  1. I couldn't have said it better. It is scary to lose that comfort. I've relied on it for so long. I am a self-pay too and I'm scared it won't be enough. The reason to abstain and to not use food is to take care of myself. I am gonna have to let myself be uncomfortable and feel all the feelings I've been stuffing down with food. That is pretty terrifying just to think of that way.

I feel just the way you do - so excited and yet so scared. I know we can do this - we have to for our health.

Oh this is so me also. I am not booked yet but going to get Sleeve soon I hope. I am self pay also so doing homework.

I sure hope for some help to not care to eat like now home all weekend and that's all I do. Eat when sad, happy , whatever

  2. Thanks, It will be Easter weekend and I hate to stick someone else seeing that it is my weekend and holiday to work but I am afraid of driving and being in pain. How about driving? Are you allowed right away?

You sound like me where you worry about everyone else but yourself

Why don't you ask someone to cover you this one for something personal if you don't want them to know and tell them you'll do there next holiday weekend?

Take time for you! Good Luck

  3. I have 8.0 cc in my band and my doctor said that I am in the green zone. But it just does'nt feel like it. I know that my food choices has a lot to do with it. But with the first band I didnot eat perfect and so that is why this is frustrating.

Hi Shelly - I am not banded but waiting to book for Sleeve in awhile is the plan. I have a huge appetite (or so I think) but whether banded, sleeve or just doing it on your own I think the best way is to eat mini meals and walk away. It takes awhile for our body to know it's not hungry anymore and I know we all know this but when it tastes good it's hard to stop. That is why these options are said to be tools to help and we still have to learn to change out thought process. I am looking forward to surgury so I am not as knowledgeable as others here but in the end that is what we have to do is learn to stop - try to eat 1/2 - 1 cup like some say and walk away and if you are truly still hungry do the same in an hour or 2 and so on. Of course I realise the band being at the right fill is important but worth a try. This is what I should be aiming at myself right now also but lack control which is why I want this also. I know I have to change my thoughts on food for sure - it's nutrition not food :)) We should make all the fast food joints pay for our surgury! :) Good luck and NEVER feel like a failure - just keep trying things to figure out what works for you! Good luck.

  4. OMG pattygreen - the reason I don't care to dicuss or listen - it's such a long sermon, enough to bore the boredest. (if that makes sense)

I've heard that before; how just being a good person isn't enough to get you to heaven but if being a good person isn't enough I will have lot's of company.

This reminds me of the school system also - it's needs a face lift on how to teach or get the education across without all the boredom and sermons.

There must be something that put us all here but what it is I don't think anyone knows for sure.

Believe in whatever you choose just don't shove it down others throats

(not meant for you patty - that is what this thread was created for so go to town)

    Enjoy the ride...

  5. my problem with the earlier statement is that when people attribute something to a certain sub-section of the population...like implying that gay mean historically stick rodents up their ass...well, that borders on bigotry. Exspecially when paired with a statement that men you are open enough to explore their pleasure zones might also be gay.

No one said they were the only ones it was a statement that "I heard" . I never heard a female so Bigotry is out of line.

I also said if a man persists with a woman and she doesn't want to he may seek elsewhere..

    ANYWAY to each there own..whatever.

  6. I have never had anal sex, but I never thought about the possibility of it streching that area out and causing problems later in life either. Anyone have any further insight into this being a possibility?

I have heard of gay men inserting a gerbil for gratrification (EWE) and having to use a tampon in there when not in use so like I said the back door is shut to large objects here :frown:)

  7. I am amazed so many do also.

That's the poop chute and I don't need that stretched out and lose control down the road. Could be real messy - ewe - nope sorry. I think if a guy is obsessed with that and the girl doesn't want it he may just have homosexual tendancies or if he didn't before he would consider it. My front door works so the back is locked to large objects :frown:

  8. i am new and i am l:rolleyes:earning.

    Hi Carrie_W

I am also from Canada and been researching for about a month and this place is the best for that. The people are extremely friendly and helpful in telling the good and bad in everything so we can make informed decisions. This is a wonderful place for real testimonials. I am in Ontario - looking at getting Sleeve and likely Mexico with Dr. Aceves is where I'm at now. Just waiting on something personal to hear about and going from there. It will be one year to see a doc in Ontario and then hoops after that to jump so not sure I can do the wait. I just wish our dollar didn't go so low - that is the biggest issue. 9500 is 13,000 to me so.. good luck in your research and let us know what your thinking or up too. These people are awesome for freindship and information :))

  9. I watched my relative's arthritic swollen fingers disappear as she took a couple puffs off a joint and now she makes Cookies instead. They eat one every few days and helps better than any pill a doc gave them and it's a weed grown naturally.

Munchies are a huge problem and don't help with maintaining a good choice of food for sure. It may be in your head but the stomach is sure willing to accept (non banded or sleeved etc) Not sure about after. Not there yet.

A controversial subject but you don't feel badly of a person that comes home from work and has a glass of wine or a beer and there is no difference. However if you smoke one beware that you may laugh your *** off - oh thats a good thing ..lol

Sorry if offends anyone but there's MODERATION in EVERYTHING - food / drink / etc..

  10. More good new as that is where I plan to book soon as self pay also. I am in Ontario Canada and will borrow the money for the Sleeve to start my new journey back to living life. Keep me posted and best of luck! I will likely be going alone too but hear how great eveyone has made out with the process with Dr. Aceves and his staff. Can't wait! Wish it was tomorrow! Sure wish the Canadian dollar didn't for for **** so badly. ouch

  11. I didnt have insurance, so was self pay. I went to Mexico and had it done, no wait, just do it.

I decided my life was worth more than the cost of the surgery. Im going in for my 4th fill next Saturday. The cost is what it is, if you are not covered, then you have to decide if its worth it.

I personally wouldnt choose the type of surgery based on if insurance covered it or not. I wouldnt have a different kind of surgery just because its covered. My body is important to me as is my health. I am a little nervous when folks post they decided the kind of WLS based on insurance coverage and what they perceive as "long term costs".

That is also my plan - can I ask what you had done and by who? I have a surgeon I want to go to but appreciate feedback on any there. How was you full experience there? Thanks!:)

  12. Thank you all for the warm hello's!

My doctor was against the surgery, she thought I was capable of losing all this weight without any help. I've been trying to lose weight for 20 years! I finally convinced her I needed her help to be approved. Then, I had a 6 month diet to finish. It was totally worth all the crap I went through to get here, having my date makes it all real!

I'll head over to the Bunny Bandsters area (what a cute name!).

Good luck to you! What is the 6mth diet for? What does it tell them? If you loose weight will they say - Oh you can do it yourself? I don't understand why they do that. I know pre-op why they do but ?? It will be a couple yrs for me in Ontario so I will likely go with self pay in awhile and get a loan to pay over 5 yrs or so. Worth it to me. I want a life back now not in 2 or 3 yrs. Keep us posted

  13. Well, then you have a decision to make.

If surgery is that important to you, then find other funding. I am uninsured, so I will be paying for my surgery for the next 5 to 7 years (I am listed as 7 years, but my wife says we will have it paid off in 5). For us, it was something that was worth the investment.

If the hospital won't extend credit, and you can't do credit cards or an independent bank loan, or borrow from friends or family (not the best suggestion anyway) then you need to decide if the surgery is the best route for you.

Whatever happens, just keep trying. Certainly, even if you don't have the surgery, hanging around groups like thic can give support to keep trying.

I just watched your you tube video - that was great. You didn't sing! Looked like you had fun and did a great job! Congrats on your weight loss OMG awesome - where did you go etc...? I am self pay also and will be booking shortly.

  14. I also am not covered under my benefit plan at all. The wait for me in Ontario is 1 yr to even get an appointment to see the surgeon etc then all the hoops to jump through after that. I am going with the Sleeve anyway. Too much after care and costs with band from my research and people getting revisions to the Sleeve after 3-5 yrs and paying more money anyway. I am looking at paying over 5 yrs and for me it is what I want more than anything. Not sure where your from but keep looking into options for sure and don't get too discouraged yet if this is what you need and want. Good Luck.

  15. hI hI

Thank you both for the support. I will find out this morning what will happen in regards to my band as I see the surgeon in 3 hours im so nervous.

I was banded on the 5th of feb 2008. I was assaulted on the 16th of feb so its been just 12 months. I never expected to have to have another op so soon!!!

I am on work cover as I have a broken wrist as well fromthe assault. I have 3 months of work at the moment and they are not being very helpful at all!! but thankfully this is all covered by work cover

Ill b back this afternoon with my news thanks again xoxox

How are you making out ? I hope everythings ok

  16. I think people get the band instead of the sleave because the band is adjustable and there is quick recovery. I am gettinf my fills done here in Toronto. I am not going back to Mexico for anything. There is a good support network here available.. Good luck !!

Where and when did you go in MX Spincan?

Was is because you didn't qualify here or didn't want to wait? I know it's much cheaper.

I just got a letter from NIS that after Doc faxes referral it will be around 1 yr to get an appointment with Surgeon etc so far away. :sneaky:

  17. If you want the sleeve why not get it done through OHIP, they will pay for it as long as your BMI is over 35 with co-morbs or over 40 with or without co-morbs.

OHIP coverage on sleeve? Are you sure you don't mean Gastric Bypass? My BMI 36.6 and I didn't think anyone did the sleeve other than in Mexico from everything I've read?

    What is co-morbs?

Where do I find that info ? Thank you so much !
