Now FloridaMomof4
Hello all, as I have indicated in my title, I have moved to Florida. Tampa to be exact. My problem is that I cant seem to find me a doctor here. I have researched on here and everything that I am finding is about a year old. I had an unfill on August 27th (with my doc in Texas) due to vomiting constantly! Now I havent lost a thing in 5 weeks! This is so frustrating. I am 15 pounds to my goal. I am depressed and yes I am eating evertime my HEAD says I am hungry. Anyway, I digress, if anyone knows of a good fill doctor in or around Tampa please let me know. I dont mind having to drive a little. And any encouragement would be appreciated as well! I was banded in April of this year and have lost forty pounds so far. Thanks to all, Deanna

Stress weight gain/not loosing
Hello all my beautiful bunnies, I need to vent a moment. I am almost 3 weeks out from my band date and I have only lost 8 lbs. Yes it a loss, but not what I expected. Which leads me to my topic line, STRESS! One week after being banded my DH tells me he thinks we should move from Texas to Florida due to his job. What a bomb that was. I can handle that, but I have 4 kids. One of which is getting married on May 22. Then two of my girls have sports banquet, which most of you know involves dresses, shoes, jewelry, hair and nails! Plus I had tofly to Tampa to find a house, plus try to get this one ready to put on the market and pack! He wants to be out there by JUne 1!!!!!!!:rolleyes2: Now, as you can see, I have alot on my plate. No pun intended. And because of this I am reverting back to my old ways and eating fast food! I guess I just need some encouragement! I go back next week for my one month post-op and fill. I am hoping that will help, because I really have NO restriction what so ever. I was so excited about this band, now its the last thing on my mind! D:unsure:

Fill Nightmare!
I am so sorry to hear of your trouble! I hope this time works for you. What I dont get is that it seems to me that your fills are huge! 2 cc at one time? I havent had my first fill yet, but my surgeon said that he will not put in more than .5cc at a time. His philosphy is slow and steady. It worries me for you, can this be healthy? Let me know how it goes, D:rolleyes2:

Port location and Pain
I am sorry so many are haveing port problems! I must be a really strange cookie! I have not had any port pain. Mine is on my right side about 3 inches under my breast . I have slept on that side since the 3rd night after my surgery. What is really weird is that it is more uncomfortable to sleep on my left side! But that is getting better every night. I hope everyone heals fast! D:lol:

a thread that had me thinking....
Girl, I like the way you think, not just about this post but all the posts you do. I have 3 aunts who have had bypass. One who really didnt need it but talked the doctor into it, has done great. Lost her weight and has kept it off. The other two.....not so good. Both had over 125 lbs.to loose or more. Lost alot of weight, then gained some back. One just recently has lost back down, but that is because she is doing weight watchers. The younger one lost alot of her hair. Anyway, long story short, I am so glad I chose the band. Seeing their lack of continued success helped me to choose the band. I am so glad I did, i am only eleven days out, but i have lost 8 pounds and going strong! My suggestion to any who are not sure which procedure they want, research, research research! IMO D:lol:

Pre-Op Diet: Help
I agree about your calories, not much of anything. You might want to call the doctors office. My pre-op diet was Protein shakes for Breakfast and lunch then a low cal low carb diet for dinner. Just be careful about the adkins advantage, I didnt realize that I was drinking down 4 a day with 9 grams of fat in each!! Thats a whole lot of fat! Goodluck D:lol:

Blurred Vision
I had the same thing, but for 2 days. I had a patch for nausa and in combo with the eye stuff the put in on surgery day, caused me to be blurry. After I took off the patch, the next day it was all better. It never hurts to call the doc and make sure. D:lol:

Slipped Band and Revision Surgery...
I am so glad that you were able to get a new band. I wish you all the best. One thing though I want to address though, my surgeon told me that he used permanant stiches to hold the band in place. Not temp ones. I wonder if it is different with different doctors? Anyway, best wishes Deanna

Hey Mick, i am a week post op also. I do still get that pain in my neck/shoulder. Sometimes it hurts sooooo bad! I try to get up and walk around when it gets that bad. The pa told me today that it could last up to ten days. So be patient. When do you go in for your pos-op? D:lol:

Those that have had surgery this week
My surgery was on Friday the 3rd. I got to the surgery center at 11:00am thinking my surgery wasn't till one. But they were ahead of schedule! So I walked in signed all my papers, paid my bill and I was off! It was a whirlwind, at one point I had 3 people asking me questions:w00t:. I have to say that the staff at Prestonwood Surgery Center in Plano Texas ROCKS!!!!!! I have never met nicer people, they were wonderful. Anyway, I digress, I was home by 4 that afternoon. Slept alot, walked some, sipped alot. I have to say day 2 was much harder, but only because of the stupid gas! The more I walked the better it got. So walk walk walk! Tomorrow will be a week and I feel almost back to normal. I have my post-op appointment in the morning. One more week of liquids, I cannot wait for mushies. Its not that I am really hungry, its just that food smells amazing! Don't stress, you will do great! D:lol:

What did you wear on surgery day?
Hello everyone, I hope everyone is doing well! I wore a "track suit" with a t-shirt and flip flops. I did wear panties, dont remember how they got back on though ...and a hook in front sports bra from wallyworld. It was cheap and comfy. I havent tried jeans yet, kinda scared to. I am still pretty puffy from the gas!!! I hope it goes away soon! Good luck with your surgery! D:cool2:

Post Op Chat
Hello everyone, I was banded on Friday. I have only taken my pain meds 4 times. I dont have much pain, got rid of a ton of gas already! Thank goodness, but I have this strange sensation in the middle of my stomach, almost like a cramp but not....I wish someone else had this so I knew it was normal. I cant tell if I am hungry or not. I had 4 ounces of Protein shake this morning and 3 ounces of butternut squash soup at lunch. I dont think I am taking in enough. Any thoughts? Of course I am drinking my Water. Overall I feel good. Just dont think I am "eating" enough....Help! D:crying:

I got my date!
Hello all you beautiful bunnies! I got my date Friday, met with Dr. Castro. LOVE HIM! Anyway, went to speak with coordinator after meeting with the doc. She started to tell me that the anethes. would call me Thurday night and the office will call me with what time I need to be at the surgery center. I went "What?" She said, didnt you want Friday, the 3rd? I was like "YES!". So obviously I have alot to get done this week. First off I would love to have a twin if there is someone out there without one. Any takers? D:lol:

Was anyone banded at a weight of 200lbs or less?
31andnew, i thought that same thing! Whats weird is that even though im in Texas, my hubby has an office in Tampa. I was just there last week with him. Maybe we could meet sometime when I am there. Do you have a band buddy yet? We could keep up and give each other support.... D:redface:

Was anyone banded at a weight of 200lbs or less?
Hello everyone, I am so glad that 31andnew posted this. I have had similiar situations at the doc's office. I am also 5'1" and am currently about 187. I will be self pay because my insurance sucks. I absolutly think I deserve this, just like Luluc. I have tried for years to loose only to gain it back and sometimes gain more back than I lost! I know I can loose, its the maintaining that I cant seem to do, thats where the band comes in. I refuse to feel guilt over this, besides I dont want to be as unhealthy as my sweet mom is. Tomorrow I see my surgeon to discuss my surgery date. I am sooooo excited, the sooner the better. I was told at one consult by the nurse that I would probably not have to do the 2 weeks of liquids, which can I tell you made me very happy! I will probably do low cal low carb for a week. Anyway, enough ranting, I wish all of you happy loosing! D:lol:
