  1. Has anyone else experencied port pain during planks? Today was the first time I have done planks since being banded and OUCH! The first set was painful, second not as bad. Wondering if it always going to be a little painful? HELP! Deanna
  2. NCLisa, I have been thinking about doing a pilates class on a reformer. Why do you like it so much? I have done a mat pilates before and hated it. But that could have been because I was to heavy to do much of it and got discouraged! But now I think a reformer class might be something good for me. I bulk up easy so weights are a no no and I have a very slim friend who does the reformer and swears by it. Please share with me why you enjoy it so much, I do think small classes would be a big pluss! Thanks, Deanna
  3. I have tried it, and didnt notice any "flavoring". I had also bought the chicken flavor to add to soups. It dissolves well. I just forget to use it! If you have any other questions, just ask! D
  4. Delivered, Congrats! I feel that way as well, I need a weight that is "real"! I want a weight that will be easy to maintain, not have to continuely worry over it! Good luck! D
  5. Wow, that would be skinny!! I wish I was 5'9"! being short sucks sometimes! I would love to be 125 but I am 43 and I havent been 125 since I got married 24 years ago! I have flappy skin already, I think I would be nothing but saggy at 125 at least at 135 there would be a little cushion under there. I dont know, I may get to 135 and decide 125 would be better. My heaviest was 220 so even at 149, I feel great! Thanks for everyones in put!! D
  6. Thanks for your opinions, that was kinda how I was feeling. I am at 149 as of today, which feels sooooo good! But I think that 135 would feel even better. D
  7. Did your doctor set one or did you set one, maybe both? I am 15 pounds to my own goal. Doctor wants me to get down to 125. I am 5'2" and I have had 4 kiddos. My question for everyone is do you feel like 125 is out of reach? I am already sagging and I cant imagine how bad it would be after 25 more pounds! And once I get to whatever goal I get to, I am still wondering how we maintain that? Any comments or suggestions would be more than welcome!! Thanks! D

BG, thanks for your blog! I have really enjoyed it! You bring up so many good points and you make me laugh! I thought I was the only one who still thinks she is fat. I may buy a size 6 but my mind still see a size 18 in the mirror, picture. I have tried recently to take pics of me to post on here but cant seem to take one that "I" think looks good (by that I mean thinner). Reading that you and others feel that way makes me know that I am not alone. Thanks!!
  9. Hello everyone, I hope you dont mind me jumping back in. I am a bunny bandster as well. Today is my 6 month anniversary! It is so hard to believe it has been 6 months already! I have lost a total of 71lbs with 44 of those since being banded. I am 14lbs to my own goal weight of 135 and 24 from what the doc wants me to loose. I am so thankful for this website and to all of my fellow bandsters. Without the support and knowledge, I dont think I would have done this good. I hope that all of the other bunnies are doing very well! D:wub:
  10. Today is my six month anniversary and I LOVE it! There are only a few things that I cant eat. eggs is one of them, I do miss them. But it is so worth the 71 pounds I have lost! 26lbs pre-surgery and then 45lbs with the band. chicken is not a problem with me, but steak is harder to deal with. My point is that we all have different things we can tolerate. I can do toast but not much of it, just a few nibbles. So its not worth it to me to mess with. Bottom line is that I think that giving up a few foods is so worth it in the long run. For me being able to walk into a department store and picking up a size 6 and buying it without trying it on more than makes up for not eating bread, eggs or whatever! imho, D
  11. 2Flyguys, I am so sorry to hear about your mom, she will be in my prayers! I did lapband for all of the reasons mentioned, but mostly so that I cut my chances of heartattacks that run in my family. The rest is gravy oops i mean a cherry on top?!? Keep us posted please! D
  12. Thank you Thank you Thank you for suggesting this WORKS!! Great taste low calories. She also suggested Lite PlumSmart juice. It's fairly new but good. I sure hope all of this helps b/c I am not used to having dry painful movements once a week. D
  13. I am wondering if you should try a Protein shake in the morning istead of eggs. I cannot eat eggs at all and know of others on here that cant' either. I am very tight first thing in the morning so I dont eat anything unless its Protein shakes. lunch maybe to much after the 2 eggs. Try something softer like cottage cheese. I have used a recipe someone posted here, cottage cheese topped with marinara and a little parm, heated in microwave. Its wonderful, tastes like lasagne. Maybe this way dinner wont be so bad. Also, if you are hungry between lunch and dinner have some cheese and lunch meat (if you can handle it). Yogurt is also a good snack. I am also wondering if you have irrated the stomach around the band and that is why you are so tight. Have you tried liquids for 2 or 3 days to see if that helps? Lost time I was to tight, my doc had me do that and it helped for a time. Ended up I was just too tight. Now a month later I am too loose! Time for a fill :tongue2: Anyway, I hope some of this helps, D
  14. I have lost: ....over forty inches all over ....a shoe size ....a fear of having my picture taken ....a fear of being the token "fat girl" in the room ....my Lane Bryant credit card :tongue2: D
  15. I understand your frustation, I have lost 42 pounds in the same time frame as you. But no I do not wish for bypass. I love my band. We need to remember that 1-2 pounds a week is healthy. You have done better than that, ten punds a month on average is great! Dont get too down own yourself, maybe you arent getting enough food? Your working out alot it sounds like. You may be in starvation mode. I have been platued for 5 weeks now! I havent excersied yet, but intend to. Try adding a Protein shake, maybe that will help. Hope this helps, Deanna
  16. It will be ok, just pick yourself up, hop back on the bandwagon and dust yourself off. Tomorrow is another day!! You can do it, besides like someone else said, you probably dont have much restriction, have you even had a fill yet? Its just been a month. Be kinder to yourself, one of the reasons I gained weight was because I was so down on myself. Thus I would get depressed and eat more! Dont fall into that pit!! D
  17. I got banded at the same time on 6/26. I had my first fill and lost 6lbs, and the second fill I lost nothing. I just got my third fill the other day and I finally got restrction and I don't feel hungry all the time. I am having a hard time getting my liquid down also, but I am trying to get that down first. Today was my first day of mushies and a very small bite of eggs wouldn't go down. So I will have to stick to Protein shakes in the am. I am starting to see that I am loosing now, since the dr appt on tuesday i have lost 5lbs. __________________ Just an FYI, I cant eat eggs or eat in the morning. I try to do Protein Shakes or just my coffee till lunch. D
  18. I too have this issue. I have been banded for almost 6 months and I still cant seem to get regular. Does anyone know if this will be long term for us? Do we eventually get back to "normal" for us? I think I will try the MOM because the benefiber so far isnt cutting it LOL! D
  19. Yes, Yes and Yes....my hands and shoulders no longer fall asleep and wake me up in the middle of the night. I also think I had the beginnings of sleep apnea, now I dont snore and I dont wake up gasping for a breath. Oh and my planters faciatis (sp) doesnt hurt anymore either! D
  20. SO WORTH IT!!! I have a very high tolerance for pain and it took me over a week to start feeling some what better. After a month I was almost back to normal, whatever that is . My doc told me not to worry about the scale, because the first month to six weeks is all about healing your body. I dont recall if you stated how much Protein you are taking in, but doc also said that the body needs the protein to heal.If you are like I was, I couldnt care less if I "ate" or not. I had no appetite. But now that I am in my sixth month, all of that is a distant memory and reality is that I am 15 lbs to goal and wearing a size 6!!!! I was a size twenty before, so YES it is worth it! hope this helps, keep smiling! D
  21. I was right where bennigancat and Dawn were before I had a tummy tuck and lipo. I thought that was going to solve all my problems, WRONG! I am 5'1"and I was at 218 when I had those surgeries.Yes I would do that again, (4 c-sections) because my stomach was nasty! After a year I had gained back 38lbs that I had lost. From 218 to 175 to 193 almost two years later. My sweet sweet husband tells me "Go get the band!" So I did. I was 193 the day I met the surgeon. I am self pay because of my stupid insurance. Today I am at 151 and I am so glad I did it. It has been 5 months and it has been awesome! I would totally do it again! I have 15 pounds till my own goal. My surgeon told me I was the perfect candidate because I was still young enough (42) bless his heart and I didnt have any health issues. I hope this helps! D
  22. My port is on my right as well. Everyone else I know has theirs on their left. I thought I was just a weirdo :bored: Now that I have lost forty, I can see mine and feel it. Strange strange! D
  23. Sometimes I do get port pain. Especially if I wear something to tight right after my fill. If the redness and pain continue I would call the doc. Good luck, D
  24. CrzyTchr, Thanks for the link, I had forgotten all about this! I have hit a 5 week plateu and this is what I need to help get a jump start again. I think alot of banders get "comfortable" with the band (I did) and forget what restriction feels like. Healthy restriction. Hopefully this will help me get back on track. Thanks again D
  25. LazyLoops, I am right there with you. Couldnt eat without serious vomiting. Didnt matter how slow or how small the bite was. So I got an unfill, now I can eat pretty much anything! I ate a slice of pizza last night! Are you having a problem with head hunger? I hope that you can wait it out and see if you get your restriction. I have waited 5 weeks so I think I need a fill  Good luck, D
