I'm ready for fill. I'm hungry and my family would say cranky--they've been great, but everyone has their limits! I feel full if I eat really slow--but I get hungry in a few hours. I allow myself a piece of fruit between meals but nothing after dinner. I go to bed tummy growling!!! So good to hear I'm not alone!!!!! :hungry: :hungry: :hungry:

Stitchy: Great answer on waiting 10 minutes! I'm using that one tomorrow!

Down 2.5 for the week. Current: 224.5 Total lost: 20 pounds

I'm not too far along, but exercise seems to be the key. Walking after supper and no snacking in the evening has helped the scale inch down a bit. I've done a lot a surfing on this site and most commited exercisers seem to be the most successful group. What's your food plan like?

Trizzy: Those days will soon be over for you. I've had more than one embarrasing moment in public over size issues. Just think, you'll be more than ready for surgery in August. Use this bump in the road to inspire you. You're blessed with young children who will greatly benefit by your decision. Make plans, dream big dreams on all the things you will be able to enjoy within a few short months from now. Self-confidence will be your middle name. I feel so much better and I'm only 3 weeks out! All the best to you and your new life.

Get a medical opinion immediately! Don't wait! Call Dr. Speigel's office. If someone there can't help you, ask them to page him if he's in town. If not, ask for his back-up doc. You'll feel better once you get medical attention. Keep us informed. We care about you!

Experienced Bandsters, what are your tricks of the trade?
Pinkylee replied to ChicagoCoco's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Coco! We can have a big plate of food. It just might take a week to eat it! Seriously, I feel your pain as I am only 3 weeks out and finding the break-up with large quantities of food at times painful. These moments do pass. I've overeaten a bit at times, and it's never worth it--no PB yet, but darn uncomfortable! I actually think some of the suffering is due to lower Seratonin (sp?) levels which are elevated by carbs--and also exercise. I'm anxious to get going on more strenuous exercise than walking--but we must heal first. My new food is LBT.com. I love to cruise. I'm never disappointed and seem to read just the right info when I need it most. Good luck! -
Thank God for the gift of prayer! I need prayer to turn over a new leaf. I've allowed myself small bends in the rules that grow bigger each day. Consequences of not following doc's rules sound ominous. I thought the band was a sure-fire way to control cravings. Now I'm beginning to learn that the gift of being banded is to be nurtured and appreciated--the pounds lost will be hard fought. Being a slow or fast loser is not an indication of being successful--learning a new way of dealing with food is. I'll be praying for you all.

PInkylee I had a pet turtle named Pinkylee when I was six. I named myself the day of my surgery--still a little out of it then. I wasn't thinking clearly--I definitely don't want to be a turtle in weight loss. My fav color is pink and my middle name is Lee. If I were a stripper I would be Lee Wedgewood (Yikes!!!)

I'm with you JucyC. The diversity of the show was what made it entertaining. It was great for a while--but the show had grown predictable. Rosie will definitely be something to watch for a while, but she's seems angry all the time. I didn't get to this size without issues. I need positive feedback. LOTS OF IT!!! Hey! I GET IT FROM YOU GUYS!!! A big THANK YOU to everyone who takes the time to share. Sandra

Aimee: I'm having the same struggles as you. Maybe we should start a "CAN'T WAIT TO BE FILLED CREW".:hungry: Sandra

I was banded on June 9 and lost 10 pounds in five days. I've been down and up two pounds since that time. Bummer isn't it? Let's hope for better results this week! I'm trying not to worry too much--but it doesn't seem fair when you're eating so little! I'm sure things will pick back up again once our bodies have adjusted to all the changes. In the meantime, I go to bed each night with an empty stomach, my legs aren't swollen and sore to walk on and my BP is way down.

I've never seen you, but I know you look great. Support from or lack of from our family is hard to take and difficult to understand. But it sure happens. A real mystery. I will be thinking of you today. I'm two weeks out and lost 10 pounds the first five days and now I lose and regain the same two pounds every other day! My Mother is my best and worst supporter. Can't understand why I'm not losing a pound a day! Trying to explain mushies and carbs just doesn't help. I hope I'm as successful as you are in weight loss 6 months from now. Congrats on all you have accomplished!!!!!

I'm starting a new studio after 12 years teaching in Michigan. I teach one day a week until I can gather more students. Guess which day I'm least hungry?
-
I took the scissors to an old bra. Snipped between the boobs and under my arms nearest my incision. Also did the same with some old panties. A few inch snips down the side. I just started wearing my regulars a few days ago. It was a comfort issue for me.

I "Joined the Band" 6-5-06
Pinkylee replied to Lucky2behome's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Lucky, I'm 55 and banded on 6/9. I too have had some struggles in the employement area. I was a successful piano teacher in Michigan. Forty students some years. Since our move to Texas, I've struggled to gather five students. I've not tried too hard. My income is secondary to my husband's and I've enjoyed the extra time off. Time to work at "getting out there". Energy is an important by-product of my hoped for weight loss. I could do so much more if I didn't enjoy "taking it easy" quite so much! Good luck in the future. May the band help us all be more of what we should be. -
Mine was after a few months on steroids I had gained 10 pounds. The real kicker was when my new blood pressure meds helped me gain another 5 pounds. The extra weight made my joints ache at night. My feet have always been a bother and I really hobbled when I first stood up to walk. I knew was in a vicious cycle that I couldn't break alone.:faint: I've lost most of that 15 pounds since surgery and my aches and pains are quickly subsiding. Blood pressure is also much better!!!!:clap2: :clap2::clap2: :clap2:

My doc says nothing but protein shake for Breakfast. Are you able to consume anything?

First fill - What was I worried about???
Pinkylee replied to *susan*'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I've been worried that I might get light-headed and need some help getting home. Since we know a lot of this is mental--I'll take a much better attitude in! Wah! No fill until July--I'm hungry! -
:phanvan I'm eating two bowls of soup (fairly thin--egg drop or broth based with pureed veges) and I feel like I'm sloshing! Is there a limit?
-
:help: When did you start exercising? I'm 8 days out and would like to start--but you know those nagging little residual surgery pains keep me from jumping in. Pinkylee Dr. Felix Spiegel 6/9/2006 244.5/231.5/159

I went home in a camisole and a loose dress. I also cut one inch slits down the sides of several pairs of painties. Took the scissors to a few old bras (at the sides). Amazing how much better I feel "free". Pinkylee in Texas Dr Felix Spiegel Banded 6/9/06:clap2:

:clap2: I'm a Junebie too! Surgery was June 9. I was banded early am. Surgery went well, but I regreted the decision until around 3:00 pm that day. I couldn't get comfortable sitting or laying down--so I walked. All the walking must have helped with gas pain. I'm a little sore--sitting in church this morning was impossible, so I stood in the back. I feel lucky to have the love and support of family and friends. This website has been invaluable. I'd like to quote Photonut--a fellow chatter-- EACH DAY GETS A LITTLE EASIER . Thanks to all of you who take the time to support and a special Thank You to Photonut.
