    Happy New Year
  2. I dropped 26 pounds on mine and most of that was in the first week. My surgion never told me of a specific weight to lose. It is mainly about shrinking your fatty liver. Good luck.

I understand why they call it bandster hell now. I hate that I can eat ANYTHING right now. I am trying my best to limit my intake, but it is so hard. I had a good restriction up until about a week after surgery. Now everything goes down with ease. I haven't lost anything for a week and it is very frustrating. I still have 3 more weeks till a fill and I can't wait. I havent really had too many food restrictions because I could start mushy foods 2 days after surgery. And now I can get anything down as long as I chew really good. Please tell me others are going through this! Bamablondie1 - I didn't have that, but I have heard a lot of people talk about how they did. It actually seems kind of common.

I am sharing all of your excitement with the 299! I stepped on the scale today and that is what it read. I have been lingering at 300 since Monday.
  5. I was told as long as you were not taking any pain meds. I had my surgery the same day as you. By Monday I felt fine enough to drive.

Sorry to hear those of you who are having a tough time getting back to normal. I generally bounce back pretty quick after surgery. I feel really lucky to be one of the ones who went right back to work. Surgery on Thursday and back to work on Monday. I must be crazy, but I go in for surgery again a week from today to have my wisdom teeth taken out. EEK. I'm more scared for that than I was the band. For those of you who are back to eating a half way normal diet: How do you make it through the day without getting hungry all the time. I am on soft foods and it seems like I am starving. I am trying to limit my intake and not have many snacks through the day.

Merry Christmas early everyone. I am a week out from surgery and feeling fantastic! I still have some soreness in my port area, but other than that I feel great. I have been able to start eating soft foods and that feels good. It is hard to limit yourself once you are finally able to eat. I took my kids to Burger King for lunch today and I made sure I had a protein shake before we left. I nibbled on just a few fries, so I think I did pretty good. I hope everyone is doing well with their bands!

I already have a food confession. I broke down and had a piece of pizza. Let me say is was yummy, but I feel guilty. I know we are going to have weak moments, but I wasn't expecting it so soon. I guess because I'm finally getting back into eating I couldn't help myself. I can't wait for my first fill and maybe then I wont feel so bad when I wont be able to eat as much.

    Post-Op Liquids

I was able to have mushy foods 2 days after being banded. I don't know how some of you do it for so long after. I would be absolutely starving.

    When is "serious" exercise permitted?

I was told to wait 2 weeks.

I pureed some chilli for lunch and it was actually really good. I had some lasagna for dinner. I just made sure to chew really well.

lpglarry - I was on just water the day of surgery. The next day i could have some jello. I am now 2 days out and I am allowed mushy foods. For lunch I blended up some chilli. It was actually pretty good. My biggest problem is not drinking while I am eating. And it is hard remembering to not gulp what I am drinking. I mainly over did it yesterday by just moving around too much. Tonight should be interesting. It is the first of many Christmas parties we have to go to. My grandma is making me mashed potatoes since I wont be able to have much of what they are eating.

Well I think I over did it yesterday. My port site is pretty sore today. But I can't get over how yummy applesauce tastes. It is a weird feeling to have my tummy growling, but I don't feel hungry. I am actually having to force myself to eat and drink. And taking sips of water is difficult too. I'm not use to that.

How much was your Psyc evaluation?

My insurance didn't cover mine and it was $400.

I do believe I got so hungry that I was no longer hungry. It is like I ignored the pain for so long, it finally just went away. I lost 26 pounds during my pre-op diet, but it seems like I lost the majority of it in the first week and then it went slower the second week.
  17. My info was submitted 3 weeks ago and I'm just wondering how long did it take to hear from your insurance? I know they said it could take a couple of months, but I'm so eager to find out. I just pray that I am approved!

I admit, I cheated a tad during my 2 week pre-op diet too. I would have a bite of something every 3 or 4 days. Shoot last night I had a small bowl of chilli as my last meal before being banded. That 2 week diet can be a killer. I think you would go crazy if you didn't reward yourself with at least a taste every now and again.

I am home from my surgery. All went great. The actual surgery took about a hour. And I was heading home 3 hours later. My only pain is at my port site. I don't even have gas pains. It is just hard because my kids don't understand. My 16 month old just want me to hold him and I can't. It breaks my heart that I can't hold him. But I have a good support system at home to give both my kids extra attention. Best of luck to everyone. I am excited and still in shock to say that I am officially banded!

Tomorrow morning I am being banded. I am ready, but scared of surgery and the recovery time. Nerves are definitely sinking in.
  21. That is interesting. I will have to look that thing up. I did read that it takes 3500 calories to equal 1 pound. Makes more sense as to why it take so long to lose weight.

Only a couple more days for me. I'm getting so excited. Mine is O/P and I have a 4 hour ride home too. My sad news is that I am now getting my wisdom teeth taken out on the 30th. I will be put under for that as well. I have had it cleared with both drs to have both surgeries 2 weeks apart. But I would much rather be doing the lap band surgery that is for sure!! What kind of band is everyone getting? Mine is the Realize.

I can't believe I am so close to surgery!! I have lost around 22 pounds on my liquid diet, but the scale hasn't moved for a few days. I would think only putting 800 calories in my mouth would make the weight just fall off. I haven't been exercising a whole lot because of the crappy weather we have had. I did eat a cookie last night because i was overly stressed out and my kids were driving me batty. I'm so ready for the scale to start moving down again. Good luck to everyone getting banded this week!
  24. If I remember correctly, you use up to 500 calories a day just breastfeeding. I would hold off on the fills. You have time to get that baby weight off.
  25. I'm in the same boat. I have always been heavy and I'm not sure what I will be like thin. Congrats on your weight loss so far. That is fantastic!!
