Any Road Cyclists on the forum?

I really enjoy biking too. I just started back in April of 2012, but found that it was something I enjoyed and didn't get bored with. I managed to get in about 1800 miles last year with 50 miles being my longest nonstop trip. we have a lot of paved trails where i live, plus there are always different groups of folks riding at different times, so its great! I will get a 100 mile trip in during 2013. I plan on doing a 100K by Memorial day. I have put it on a trainer in the den and ride indoors during the bad weather. Love my Trek!

Getting First Fill in 2 Days!!! SCARED!!

At my fills, they now do them with you standing up. Used to be lying down. At mine, they will have you stand on the fluro machine, the turn the machine on, mark your stomach with a sharpie at the port location, then put the needle in. I have never had a bad experience with fills. I was nervous the first time too, but it was all for nothing.

    Frustration

Hi Sara, First off, congrats on the 30 lbs loss. I've been banded over three years now and am down about 70 lbs, so I understand slow loss. My suggestion is to try to continue to make good food choices and continue to see your fill Dr as often as He/She suggest. How much restriction do you have? Maybe it'll just take a small amount more to get you to that restriction level you're looking for. I think I'm at correct restriction, but I COULD definatley eat more than I should. Good Luck on your continued success!

    Feeling discouraged

Do you feel any restriction? Does your fill Dr. use fluro for fills?

Getting First Fill in 2 Days!!! SCARED!!

fills are a piece of cake! as far as losing your insurance goes, your Dr probably included a year or so of fills with the pricing of the surgery? i'd certainly hope so anyways.
  6. Hi. I have aetna INS. I had to pay a program fee of "only" $375 to my dr. I think you are being taken! My opinion. Good luck!
  7. My surgeon requires the week preop to be zero or very, very close to zero calories. It's pretty much the same the first week postop
  8. I started at 324 on sept 17th......today I weigh 273-4. I drank broth, 5 calorie fruit "juice",lots of Water and sf Jello.
  9. I was banded on Sept 28th. It couldn't have went better! I was home the next day by noon and had very little pain. The first week post op i was clear liquids, then full liquids, then mushies, the pretty much regular food as tolerable. I must say the 2nd week was when i felt some restriction and had to take it easy with what i "ate". No restriction at all now, can't wait for first fill on Nov 10th. Preop clear liquid week was difficult the first couple days, then the motivation kicked in and it really wasn't so bad after that......I did NOT cheat once and lost almost 20#'s that week preop. I am down almost 50# including the preop diet. All I can say is I am extremely glad I had it done so far.

    Nervous about bad habits

What a great post!! Very motivational!
  11. I would certainly suggest to stay in contact with your pcp office and your lap band surgeons office. They both want you to succeed! Myself and my partner both have aetna and both got denial letters at first. Within about a week, the proper paperwork was submitted, mine was 6 months of supervised dieting, she had a bmi of 38 with many family histories of weight related problems. Ours were both approved within a week or so of original denial. I was banded on sept 28, hers is nov 12. Hang in there and keep on them! You'll be banded before you know it. I've been banded a month tomorrow, and including pre-op am down 50 lb.
