Anyone have an opinion on Thermogenics?
catfish87 replied to catfish87's topic in Fitness & Exercise
http://www.gnc.com/p...ductId=17905666 So I've used this for a month now....AND LOVE IT pre workout. Energy through the roof....YMMV. 20 grams/100 calories. -
Here's an interesting article that talks about various different types of aerobic exercise.....of course from the authors point of view. A good read. I believe the one you will continue to do is the best.....As always, YMMV. "cycling leads to running"...I'm a believer! http://drsimpson.net..._comparison.htm

Sounds like you're progressing wonderfully. Congrats on the loss! Swelling from surgery as went away and now you are HUNGRY/STARVING. Pretty typical and normal. Soon your surgeon will start adjusting your band to allow it to work. Until then, its just another diet. Do your best...and don't get disappointed if you don't see the scale going down right now. Lots of folks even gain a few pounds after getting back on solid food, prior to getting their band properly adjusted. Best wishes!

Frederic and others are spot on! Here's a quote from an article I read some time back and posted a link to....I've found it helpful and motivating. "You just do it"... One step at a time. "Einstein didn't think he was intelligent, because as his intellect expanded so did his ability to comprehend how much there is to know. Exercise works the same way. As you become fit, you become more aware of higher standards of fitness. Identifying yourself in the scale of being fit can be the cause of depression that will cause you to quit. You must not think about a future state of fitness you want to obtain. You must only think of physical motion in the moment. You must develop sets of physical motion without setting a goal of obtainment. You just do it as a ritual. You don't think about the time involved. You don't become over exhilarated. You just do it."

They call it the same in my surgeons office. I was referring to your statement about your doctor saying "there was no need to do the test". If he/she is using fluoro, my experience would be they can easily see whether you have restriction or not. It did for me, when I had an issue with my band.
-
My suggestion would be to find a surgeon who IS willing to do an upper GI/Fluoroscopy. That COULD easily show the issue. COULD being the key word. It did for me...easily detected why I had no restriction.

Too tight? Or is this typical?

Because I don't agree with your sky is falling approach to "educating", doesn't mean I or anyone else is ignorant or "lives in a bubble". Quite the opposite, maybe we have educated ourselves and realize your OPINION is just that...your OPINION. I'm glad you didn't try and educate my surgeon as you say you did yours.....he'd have laughed you out of town. Did they do that to you on OH? -

If we could only have believed you..... -
Hi. You mention your doctor seems to "think there could be something wrong with the band". Why does he think this? Did they do a Upper GI/Fill using Fluoro? When was your "complete unfil" you mention above?

What exercise do you do at home?
catfish87 replied to Adrienne21's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
"bike riding is really good cardio" SO true. It helped change my life! I hated going to the gym, always found a excuse to not go. And it really was just an excuse in my case. But with advice from a friend, I started to cycle...bike riding in Feb 2012. I started out only able to do a couple of miles, before I was tired and out of breath. But even in the beginning, the feeling was incredible. I could do it! I had found something I liked...something I enjoyed that would help me get fit. So almost every day, I'd hit the bike trails...doing only a couple miles at a time the first week or so. GRADUALLY, over the course of weeks, building up to where I could really get a "workout". Within a couple of months, getting up to a longer distance/time...and by then, really starting to notice an improvement in cardio endurance....and the desire for more! So I continued that, just GRADUALLY building distance, until this past June, I rode my first century ride (100 miles). I suppose thats similar to what a runner feels when they complete a marathon, although I don't know....yet.... I got a newsletter from my surgeons office a couple of months ago. An article in it said "Cycling leads to running" and it got me thinking.... Could it really be possible that I could run now? I had read on here from some REALLY successful folks about the feeling they get from running..."runners high" they describe. So...once again with some help/suggestions/motivation from folks on here, I decided I was going to try it. On July 22nd, I Ran my first 2 mile run. I couldn't believe it!!! It was slow by the runners standards....but I did it. Two days later, I ran a 5K and have done 27 5K's and one 10K run since then. And I'm really starting to enjoy it, thanks to a great coach and friend from this very site. But it ALL started with that first bike ride for me....two miles. My point, just find whatever it is you enjoy and stick with it. You don't really NEED a gym to get healthy. As mentioned above....a jump rope can provide A FANTASTIC workout...for less than $5. Its you.....its all you....that makes the difference. If I can do it, anybody can. See you in a Triathalon soon? -

I was talking with a person at work last night about my HRM. It is without a doubt in my mind, the best money I have spent concerning "exercising". I use a Garmin 310xt. I use it for cycling and now running. It keeps track of almost anything you could want...automatically uploads it to GarminConnect. I actually was talking to folks on here back in the spring about this topic. Theres a lot of different ones available, but I'll never be without one again. You can use just a strap with several smartphones too. Many, many apps that show lots of good info. But Im partial to my garmin. Heres an example of what it shows: Running http://connect.garmi...ivity/376604157 Cycling http://connect.garmi...ivity/373124229

An Olympic distance Triathalon. And running with my friend and coach Steph. Maybe even a half Ironman.....I really need to get in the pool.
