A little run for me before work this evening. Had to work off the ice cream from last night. Happy Thursday everyone!

I had borderline high blood pressure a few years and several pounds ago. Actually was on meds for a few years. Now, my blood pressure can be similar to what you and Missy describe. Sometimes getting a little lightheaded/seeing the little black dots, etc when I stand up. I've discussed this a lot with my PCP. He always suggest its dehydration symptoms....drink, drink, drink I hear. And take it easy....Ha! I will say I notice far less of this when I drink electrolytes, such as G2, Powerade Zero, etc.

What did you tell your Employer???
catfish87 replied to tifflo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'd be leary of "making up a procedure". That could, down the road be held against you as falsification of company records. I've seen it happen...Very sad but true. MY opinion, if you are not 100% comfortable telling EVERYONE at your workplace, then don't tell ANYONE. Your supervisors, etc are not entitled to know what type of surgery you had. Only any work restrictions you may have. Your bariatric surgeon's team should be very familiar filling out the FMLA paperwork to not indicate any identifying procedure. -
First one under 27 !! Just under, but I'll take it!

Congrats my friend! I certainly respect the concerns of folks who are suddenly concerned about their pics, etc being used from this site. I suppose they just weren't aware of it before. ANYTHING, and I mean ANYTHING you ever post on the web is available to be seen/copied/used/printed by the masses. I, as you mention am proud of where I am now compared to where I was.....so, Post away I say! Anybody wants a pic of you, give them one....just make it a good one with a smile. You've done awesome!

We discussed similar to this in another thread a few months back...I have had, and sometimes still have that same issue. USUALLY, it happens a couple hours after exercise for me. And my BP is ALWAYS low when it happens. I've discussed it in detail with my PCP, he always says he thinks mine is dehydration. Tells me no riding, etc for a week...um, ok. I'm not so sure it could be just dehydration. I did suffer from a self induced dehydration episode last summer, including passing out and waking up in the ER with a whopper of a concussion/knot on my head. I will assure you, you don't want that. I find that I have considerably less episodes when I drink some sort of electrolyte drink, such as Powerade zero, or G2, rather than straight Water. Just my experience. -
HEY HEY look at them Cards! I got a fool to bet me that the Dodgers were gonna SWEEP! What to do with his money??? HeHe. Great job on the ride yesterday and today. I got in a couple runs the last two days. Weather is soooo nice here. May be able to get in a ride tomorrow. Keep it up!

Hmmm..."slowly" losing restriction? "some of the saline did not appear to be there" Those two things, especially taken together...indicates a POSSIBLE leak to me. But it also could be nothing more than you need a bit more added. Maybe the fill person didn't actually get it all removed to determine how much was there. Not sure why they wouldn't be able to...but, I'm sure someone has had this happen to them and will reply. I've never had any disappearing saline, but certainly needed to ADJUST my fill amount after losing weight. Now if you had said you had great restriction and then BAM, it was gone, and all the Fluid is still remaining in the "system", then I'd suggest it could be something else. One thing is for sure, a fluoroscopy check will show a band thats come undone.....just sayin', from my experience. Best wishes

I work rotating 12 hour shifts...two weeks of days, then two weeks of nights. I've been on rotating shifts for 20 years now. BY FAR, the hardest part for me is nighttime grazing because I'm bored. Not hungry, but bored... When I'm on nights: I get up usually around noon-1pm. Rarely by the alarm clock, which is set for 2pm. I will have some sort of Protein soon after waking, within 30 minutes normally. It may be just a protein shot with some coffee if I don't feel "hungry". If I wake up feeling like I'm hungry, I'll make a shake with half a banana/ 25 grams of chocolate protein powder/ Ice/ almond milk/ sometimes PB2 as well. Then some sort of exercise for the day.... Unless I burn say more than 600 calories, I won't have anything after exercise except LOTS OF Water, before going to work at 5pm. Around 6-8pm, I'll eat as much as I comfortably want of protein rich food...until I feel full! Not everyone feels this way, but I DO get full now. Then I'll have something very small, maybe a greek yogurt or a piece of cheese with a couple crackers around midnight. Then SOMETHING solid around 4am. (this is key for me....or else I want to snack when I get home in the morning, and that is a bad thing for me!) Maybe a couple tablespoons of Peanut Butter, some tuna, or some deli turkey breast. Off work at 5am, home and asleep around 7-8am.

surgery in the morning...anxious
catfish87 replied to unbroken40's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats on your upcoming surgery in the morning! I was a bundle of nerves too, four years ago while waiting for my turn....and now, couldn't be happier with the new life it has given me. I'm sure you will do just fine. It'll be over before you know it, literally! Best wishes -
Donna, The following is just from my experience...not to replace anyones doctors advice. Just a disclaimer for those who may disagree My surgeons recommendations USED to be nothing to drink 30 minutes before, during, and for 30 minutes after eating. In the last couple of years, the drinking BEFORE a meal has been relaxed/eliminated from my surgeons recommendations. It is an ever evolving thing though...I guess thats why they refer to it as a practice... constantly learning what works and what doesn't. Still nothing during, or for 30 minutes AFTER eating is the recommendation. I normally have nothing to drink WHILE I'm eating, but I can easily tell when its "ok" to drink most of the time. For me, thats usually within 5 minutes after eating. Now if I didn't chew good enough....well, you probably know the results...another learning episode in the books. Almost time to break out the Big Blue sweaters and jerseys! Best wishes!

What do you order at restaurants after weight loss surgery?
catfish87 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Crabcakes, Grilled fish, crab legs, FRIED fish occasionally ( ), Stews, soups, oysters, chicken wings. I mostly stick with seafood. I CAN eat just about anything, but red meats are becoming a thing of the past for me. Almost never eat breakfast food anymore, maybe a bowl of oatmeal. -
Great workouts everyone! I managed to get in a little bit of swimming this morning after work, and a run after getting up. ( yes, nightshift this week for me ) Prior to surgery, I couldn't have walked a 10km. It's one step, one day, one mile at a time... http://connect.garmin.com/activity/387734238

I ran out of my fav Protein powder, and walgreens didn't have it in stock....so off to the GNC. They had this and the salesperson said he had heard good things about it, (don't they all say that). http://www.gnc.com/product/index.jsp?productId=17905666 I bought a small container and THEN got home and did some reading... seems to be quite a bit of difference of opinion around the use of thermogenic's. The only info I could find on LBT about it was back from a 2006 post... http://www.lapbandta...nic#entry309188 I'm NOT using it for weightloss reasons, just as a pre workout Protein Drink. At 20 grams per 100 calories, its a good choice in that regards. So, anybody else use thermogenic supplements? Anybody KNOW good/bad things about them? I'll ask my surgeon/nutritionist next month when I visit what their opinion is too. I've used it for about two weeks now and am undecided.... Thanks for any advice/opinions!
