    Banders Exercise

weights and a 20 minute spin on the trainer after work at the gym
  2. Thanks for sharing B-52! I couldn't agree more. I had a small amount ( I don't know how much) removed about three weeks ago, due to getting stuck on a pill and having some irritation that lasted for a few days. I too, know that there must really be a fine line between "proper" adjustment and "close" adjustment. I am finding it more like a diet again now....and I suck at dieting. Can't wait to get back in to see my surgeon to return to the Happy spot for me. Best wishes!

    HELP!

Totally normal! Not a lot of us were told about this "bandster hell"....but it's very real for many. It was for me. The swelling from surgery subsides, and you feel no different than before banding. Exactly how it was for me too. Rest assured, after you start getting adjusments, the band works. Until then, its just willpower that will get you through this phase. Hang tough and do your best to limit your portion sizes. And try not to test the types of food you can eat. Stick to your surgeons choices and allow yourself to fully recover from surgery. There'll be happy days ahead! Best wishes!

How much exercise do you all do in a day?

I have a minimum weekly "goal" of 210 minutes. 30 minutes per day average. I just checked my activity tracker and for the last year, I've averaged 558 "exercise" calories per day.....I don't exercise every day, but over the course of the year, it evens out. (203,526 calories for the past year) Minute wise, its right at 50 minutes per day average over the last year. ExerciseCalories with average2014-04-11 (4849).xlsx These are numbers from LoseIt!, but pretty close to my HRM tracked numbers, which show 189,xxx calories of exercise.

    MO - St. Louis

Hi Pinksjo1, Not sure if you'd be interested, but we have meetings the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of every month in the Metro East at the Collinsville Doubletree. Its led by a NUT from St. Alexius and we usually have several WLS patients attend with every type surgery. It's open to anyone who's had or contemplating WLS. All are welcome! Several members from this site attend. PM me if you'd like more info. Thanks, David

    Red Wine

One of the "lapband Pioneer surgeons", you'll see mentioned often on here, Dr. Paul O'Brien suggest that "a glass of wine with meals which we have shown is good for your health and good for your weight loss when taken in a modest amount." So, IMO, enjoy! http://drsimpson.net/weight-loss/Dr-Obrien's-golden-rules/Dr-Obrien's-golden-rules.htm

    First fill

Everyone has different experiences, but for me, having a properly adjusted band is the most important thing. You're not there yet....so as others have suggested, do your best to limit your calorie intake and do what YOU can as far as exercising/walking/moving....everything helps. You can get through this "bandster hell" as its called for a reason...one day at a time. Best wishes!

Go Wildcats.. since the Gators can't win I will pray that Kentucky does. I was born in Kentucky so I can say they are my home team. I still love my Gators though.
