  1. G'day all,

I'm down about 20lbs. I was banded 4 weeks ago. Haven't lost anything in the last week  I can eat anything i want and haven't had a prob with bread or rice. Really need some restriction fast!!!! I get my first fill on April 21st and can't wait as my will power to restrict myself is getting harder and harder. I have been warned that it may take till my 3rd fill untill i notice any restriction. They said i will get 1cc on my first and second fill and 2cc on my third. I truly can't wait as it really is like banded hell at the moment... as in i'm banded but have No restriction.

  2. I am soooo glad to hear i'm not the only one having trouble dieting!!!! I love this site, helps me not to feel on my own and like i have failed, infact i feel like i am on track cause i'm the same as most of you phew, lol.

I have lost nearly 20lbs since i was banded 4 weeks ago and yes this may look like steady progress..... but i lost 15lbs in the 2 weeks pre op and 1 week post op and only 5lbs in the last 3 weeks. This includes nothing in this last week!!! I can eat anything, and it is sheer will power to watch what i am eating. The other day i was out shopping and i was starving so i buckled to my growling tummy's request for food and had a diet 6 inch sub. (went down fine tasted great... but came with a helping of guilt, lol and for a diet sub it was still alot of calories compared to what i have been eating) otherwise i have been very good. I have to wait till 6 weeks post op (21st April) to get a fill and they said i may not notice any benfits untill my 3rd fill.... bring it on!!!!

  3. Granny TJ You go girl! You are losing away.

Man I swallowed a piece of gum today and am

i miserable! I feel it slowly moving down. Word of advice

don't chew gum. I have read on some threads that some

MD forbid gum mine however has never mentioned yes/no. Learned the hard way! YUK

Oh my goodness you poor thing!! :smile2: I have chewed gum recently and have done so very nervously. It's good to hear it is actually going down as i was really worried it would get stuck and i might need an op to get it out. Are you at the stage where u are startng to feel hungry? I am and can't wait till i get a fill... not sure when that will be. I guess once we have a fill chewing gum might be even more risky as there will be less room for it to get through.

  4. ok, I'm feeling really stupid about now, but I can't find the group to join (banded the 19th), nor can I figure out how to get my ticker going! Help!

Ur already in the group!! Welcome. Anyone banded in March is in the group. Add to any thread you want, it dosen't just have to be under the "we need a name" thread. For me someone had started a thread saying "banded yesterday it hurts" and at that time i really needed to read and respond to that one. But if you have a comment or question and you can't see something simular or the answer start ur own thread under the March 09 group. Good luck with ur journey look fw to hearing how u r doing.

P.S open up ur signature box under ur profile and another page with the ticker... i think it was the first link under ur ticker that i added to my signature. (good luck i too had several goes, which is why i can't exactly remember which one worked)

P.SS if you want to highlight and copy the Lucky losers sparkle thing under my name feel free to do so and add to ur signature, just edit when u were banded. That what i did, lol.

  5. OMG...my surgery was yesterday and while I have always considered myself to be very pain tolerant I AM IN SOME SERIOUS PAIN....no gas pains like several others mentioned but man does it hurt....Also my pre-op diet was liquids 2 days prior and as of yesterday its been 3 days of Clear Liquids so I decide to step on the scale WHAT ARE U KIDDING ME I GAINED 5 pounds ..... has anyone else experienced this? I am so depressed and did I mention in pain.....Can anyone tell me what our calories should be at and protein......

    Hi Pezo,

If you look through the March threads, you may notice a little one called banded yesterday it hurts! (lol) You might find it encouraging. I too was in a lot of pain!!!:) But everyday does get better. I am now 15 days post op and feel great.... but like you i had a really rough time in the beginning. I would say don't push yourself, take plenty of pain meds and give yourself a good week to heal. Don't feel guilty if all you can do is shuffle round the house in ur Pj's for a week. For me day 9 was the real turning point. But hopefully you will notice a big improvement around day 4. Good luck and thinking of you. Trace.xx :huh2:

  6. finally it is day 10 post op!!!! Horray i have made it through the worst. I am soooo happy to have made it to here.... guess what wouldn't you know the pain is almost all gone. I'm off pain meds mostly and can almost get a good nights sleep. (breath a sigh of relief) I hadn't read about how you can't sleep any where except your back lol. That was not fun. I also haven't really worn a bra for the 10 days cause i only had wire ones and it dug into one of my sores, but thats alright now too.

But i do have one question.....

I am aloud to eat Puree food but.... everything seems to go straight through me :tongue_smilie: not nice. So much so that i would be too scared to eat around others in case i had to make a mad dash to the loo. I'm just wondering if anyone else is having this problem and if anyone knows how long it last? Really hoping it will go soon

  7. I was banded 3 days ago and yes i have been needing to crush pills too, lol. My hubby just said to say that "crushing the pills beteween two tablespoons works well." He has been crushing mine that way and it works. Doesn't make the taste any better though, lol.

  8. after being re admitted to hospital for the unbearable pain i now have some stronger pain med and finally feel like there just might be light at the end of the tunnel. Sorry if my previous post scared anyone but i wanted it to be the truth. Whatever you do just make sure you go home with good pain meds and you will make it through. Turns out the Dr had grazed my rib and caused a bit of a herorreage, so this was adding to my pain and after yelling at my husband that i want this band out... i'm now willing to keep going. Like i said "marvellous how good pain meds help." I'll keep u posted on my honest journey.

  9. I was banded yesterday too. And yes it HURTS a lot!!!!!! From the moment i opened my eyes. Not fun at all, i can only hope it does get better. Burping kills, my shoulders kill... and of cause where they put the band hurts. Trying to drink with out making more burps aint easy. There is no where comfortable to lay, stand of sit. Oh my goodness i think i'm a big wimp too. I just wish i could sleep the next week away... but as it's not possible i guess i will be shufferling and wimpering.

  10. less then 24 hrs to go!!!! oh my goodness the butterflies are going crazy! can't wait till it's over, praying you all go well and can't wait to here from you. the first one of us out and on here, should start a thread or add to it call "just banded the journey" so we can all see how each of us is going.

I have lost 9lbs (just over 4kgs) on the pre op shake diet, it's encouraging to go in with a little weight loss.

    Good luck

    Trace.

  11. 3.5 days for me too. In less then 2 hrs it will be midnight here in Australia... so it will be 3 days!!!! Oh my goodness, i'm excited and nervous all at the same time. All you March banders about to be done hang on tight it's going to be an awesome roller coaster of a ride. So glad i have all of you taking it with me....makes it not so scary.

  12. I'm doing o.k on the shakes, mainly because i like the coffee ones. I am aloud some vegies at night, like brocilli, cauliflower, zuchini, onions, green Beans, tomatoe. But trying to think up ways to eat them is hard. mostly i just stir fry them with a little chilli and garlic and sometimes i add them to tomatoe Soup.< /p>

Yesterday i had the worst headache all day and i just couldn't shake it, as i don't get headaches often i wondered if it was from the diet. I'm taking berrocca Vitamins so it shouldn't be from my diet.

I miss a nice barbeque steak too, but mostly bread and potatoe. Cooking for the rest of the family means i am seeing all this yummy food and smelling it and i know if i wasn't getting banded in 6 days there is no way i could stick to this diet. I haven't been told about Clear Liquids the day b4 my op although it does make sense. I'm not having any probs with sleeping, thank goodness.

  13. I am getting very excited with only 6 days to go:w00t: So happy i am part of the March banders. I totally can make it through these next 6 days on the shake diet because i can see the end in site. Or is it the beginning woo hoo  However i am a little nervous about all the things that can go wrong, so i can't wait till it is over. Is there anyone else with not long to go?

  14. Hi I get banded on March 11th too. I have told some people. My family is supportive. I told a friend i only see a couple of times a year thinking she would be safe to tell. Would you believe she asked me to come visit her (a 5hr drive) and stay a few days, and then she said... so she could see how big i was now and then how i look when i loose it. I'm sure she didn't mean anything by it, but there was no way i was coming up to feel on display, especially being over weight! Please, i think i was too shocked to say anything.

I found this website yesterday because i really need to keep my mind active and off the fact i feel like i am starving right now. Plus it helps that just about everyone understands. 11 days to go and i just want it over and done with i hate feeling hungry all the time.

  15. Hi, it's nice to meet someone about to start like me.

Oh my goodness how exciting, we will be able to exchange how we went with the surgery ect. I just can't shake my nerves about it and the long term things like if food gets stuck or something. But i am glad i am doing it and can't wait just to be able to go into a shop and buy something that suits me instead of the ugly clothes around for bigger people. Plus it will be nice for people to know me and not base it on my size.

I have been asked to follow a shake diet (although they said i didn't have to but it is better if i did). The one i am using is called Optifast. I take it for Breakfast, lunch and dinner. I can also have a little bit of fruit, like 15 strawberries a day, a cup of watermelon, 10 grapes, i slice of pineapple a day if i like.

I have some fruit for Breakfast with a coffee flavour shake(missing my morning coffee) and some fruit for morning tea and afternoon tea.

I have lettuce, tomatoe and cucumber and a strawberry shake for lunch. (really missing bread, aaarrr carbs yum)

For dinner i stir fry some broccoli, green Beans, cauliflower, zucchini, spinich, onioins and or tomatoe. I add flavour like garlic or tomatoe paste or chilli, or soy sauce ect. (really missing meat and potato)

Then i have a chocolate shake and a diet jelly for dessert.

My bmi is 40 :) and i have a lot to loose. (just over 42kg at least) can't believe i have put that up here, my hubby doesn't even know my weight.

love to hear back from you. I think although this is only my second day on this site, that there is a March group on here.

P.S how do u add ur tracker on? I went to the site but as yet it hasn't come up with my name.
