  1. Beacheegirl,

Hope everything goes as well for you as it did for me, really a piece of cake(so to speak) I was truely amazed at how easy it was. I figured I get all freaked out, or be a blubbering idiot, but, It was almost a non issue. I am so glad that the powers that be allowed me to have such an easy time. More pain in giving birth than this. I didn't even know when they put me to sleep, I just woke up, drank some Water and went home. It was so cool!!! Good luck to you:biggrin1:

  2. I'm 5'7" and I would love to be 140, but Honest to God if I only lose enough for my apnea to go away I'll be happy. Hey is there anyone else out there like me? I have saved every pair of jeans I ever owned I think. I have every size from a size 8 (1988) to size 24 (currently) I pulled them out yesterday,I had my surgery friday, and reaquainted myself with them. I swear to God I looked at the waist of some of them and wondered how the hell I ever got myself into them. They wouldn't even go around my thigh right now. The funniest part about it all is when I was a size 8 I thought I was fat!!! What was I thinking? Bad body image I guess. Oh well I won't be having to buy new jeans for a while anyway!

  3. :faint: On june 16th at 7:30 am I got MY band!! My Doc said I did Great, and I felt so good that I stayed up all day and called all my friends. Yesterday, I went out running around with my boyfriend, cleaned my room, and did some laundry, and today, I discovered I'm not Superhuman! OUCH!!! The gas is the worst, but I'm pretty sore today too. I was planning to go back to work tomorrow, but, I think I may wait another day. I haven't been hungry at all, which amazes me, but like I said, the gas sucks. I'm having a little trouble getting enough fluids too. Have to take small sips, and have to sit up straight. I know it will get better, the big question is when? Oh I had haitial hernia surgery too, so when can I start drinking cold fluids again? Room temp. flavored water is nasty. Can someone give me aa time frame?

  4. Hey, how about a law against the morons who go all the way thru a checkout line at the grocery then say OH, by the way, here are my 2000 coupons, and when the poor checker finally gets thru ringing them up, then they pull out the check book and sweetly says to the clerk Got a Pen? Or how about women who use abortion as a form of birth control? I think the first abortion should be allowed, if she becomes pregnant a second time, forced sterilization. I'm not against abortionl, I'm against those lazy B*****s who indiscriminately spread 'em then go OOPS my bad...How'd that happen...off to the abortion doc for a little D&C. Life begins at conception...Have a concience

  5. I am a panel electrician for a company that builds paint systems for the auto industry. Just 40 guys and me. I can't wait to lose this weight so they might treat me like a female...Nah after 17 years there, I'm always gonna be one of the guys! But I love 'em and they are all rooting for me! Course if I fail, they will all say...Isn't that just like a woman! Spends money for something that doesn't work! But secretly, theres a couple of guys waiting to see how it goes for me, because they are considering having it done too

  6. Hi Everyone!

I told my Doc about this site and he is thrilled to know that we have chosen to take an active part in eachothers lives for the benifit of all. He wanted to have me tell yall a couple of things that he considers very important in the lives of all banders.

First and formost...ALWAYS tell any medical person that you are banded!!! If you undergo any type of medical procedure, I mean ANY TYPE from wart removal to Teeth cleaning, Major or Minor surgery, you MUST have antibiotics!!! He says it may mean the difference between a safe and uneventful recovery and disaster!!

Second, and still very important in the sucessful weight loss catagory, DO NOT drink fluids 5 minutes before, during, and for 2 hours after your meals. The fluids cause the foods to flow through your stoma before they are supposed to and you will get hungry long before it's necessary. He tells me that this is the most effective way to lose weight using the band, and I believe him. So for any of you who are having trouble losing weight with the band or feeling hungry too soon after meals, try to see if drinking fluids in that time frame is undermining your ability to effectively lose weight. Good luck to all!!!:hungry:

  7. I got my aproval the last week of May. I didn't go on a binge, because I wasn't going to have surgery till first week of July. Lo and behold, I get a call from the Dr.'s office last Monday, telling me, my surgery is going to be on the 16th of june. I had restraunt tours all planned out for the last 2 weeks before my diet started, just to find out that those two weeks have forever been taken from me. To make matters worse, I got the call 10 minutes befor I was to go to lunch, and I had only eaten a bagel that morning. But, I figured I have fought so long to have the band, I would just make the sacrifice. So goodbye all my old friends, sorry I couldn't stop by for a visit before my life change. Maybe it's better this way.

THAT WHICH DOES NOT KILL ME, MAKES ME STRONGER

  8. People who drive in the lane thats ending is a BIG issue with me too! If they would merge 1/2 mile back like most of us, the traffic wouldn't have to come to a dead stop at the bottleneck. I'll run 'em over (almost) to make my point, or a little horn, or international sign language, always makes me feel better. I think my biggest gripe tho is inconciderate people in stores. My Mom is handicapped, and uses one of those little carts, and it P****s me to no end to be with her and see how people crowd her, run into her with carts, and cut in front of her in line. I've almost gone to jail a couple of times because I tried to explain manners to these morons. Another thing that bothers me is skinny people in restaurants who sit and watch me eat, and discuss what I order, and how much I eat. Ok, I've vented!

  9. Hi,

I'm another june bander. My surgery is June 16th. I was supposed to have it july3rd, but the office called Mon. morning and moved it up. They called right before my lunch break, and boy was that tough. I had only had a bagel that morning. My Dr. requires a 2 week liquid diet before surgery. I still only got 11 days, but who's complaining. This time next year I'll be wearing a swim suit. Good luck to everyone. I have learned to dare to hope.

  10. Thanks Photonut. Your message was VERY encouraging. I guess most people go through the nervous jitters before this procedure. I'm getting a lot of negitive vibes from some of my friends and loved ones, and that doesn't make it any better, but I've made up my mind that this is my course of action, so I'll just take a xanax and proceed.

  11. :( Hello everyone. Just call me Sparkey. I'm about 4 weeks from getting my surgery. I'm a 50 year old female, getting ready to embark on the biggest challenge of my life. I love food!!! Taste, texture , smell, everything. Will power? I got tons of the stuff. I proved that every time I starved myself for months on end. After spending the morning reading postings on this site, I don't know if I have the courage you folks do.

My Doctors name is Dr. Gazayerli, and the surgery will be done at St Joe's hospital in Pontiac Michigan. I'm also having hernia surgery done at the same time, so I don't know how much of a shock I'm in for yet. If anyone out there has had both proceedures done at the same time, please inform me. Thanks, and wish me luck
