  1. Doodlebug, you are a strong person, you did not throw in the towel when you had your set back with the bacteria in your lungs. You got some info from someone on the site nd you moved forward, that is remarkable. If you lived in Phoenix as a child, when did you leave? I came here in 1993 from Northeast PA. What a change! From the mountains to the desert. I am tired of the desert but in this economy I will not sell and move now, not until things get back to normal. I want to get back to green grass and trees. I will keep in touch when I get home from the hospital, as I took 2 weeks off work and will have lots of time for this site. Lighterload

  2. Hey tig, Are you as anxious as I am about our surgery next week? I can hardly wait. On the liquid diet, I have two Protein bullets each day, plus broth, SF waters, SF jello, Powerade ZERO and decaffinated teas. I tried the decaf coffee and thought it be best I stick with the teas. Decaf coffee just doesn't do anything for me. My surgeon does not want me having any caffeine. I have about 147 lbs to lose and I know I must have lost 20 more on this liquid diet, seeings that I lost 12 lbs. in the first 6 days of this diet and I am on day 19 now. We are a day apart with our surgeries, so is your on Tuesday or Thursday? I will keep in touch as soon as I get out of the hospital as I will have 2 weeks off work and lots of time for this site.....Lighterload

  3. Hi Doodlebug,

30 lbs. is a great loss. I have leveled out at about 48 lbs. I go for my second fill on June 3rd. I want my sirgoen to tighten it up more than the last time. I need to get this show on the road and get this weight off. I feel great but losing faster would be lovely. Kudos to the rain you have been getting, we have temps over 100 already and its only May. Rain is rare in AZ and of course what you don't have you miss. I love rain.

I am looking at changing jobs soon, had a substantial offer that I cannot turn down so I should be giving notice to my present employer soon, that will go over like a lead balloon.

Keep walking and stay in touch, Lighterload

  4. Hey DB,

Fabulous to hear from you again. Great to hear you are doing so well. I go for my second fill on Wednesday and I am hoping he fils me up tight. I have been exercising with my stationary bike and now been in my pool as its been over 100 degrees here for the past two weeks now. I should be down about 50 lbs now but will know for sure when I see the Surgeon on Wednesday. I will let you know. Have not started the new job yet still in the 12 step interview process. They make you interview with every director when your are applying for a director position, so I should be coming close to the end of the list soon. Time will tell, if its meant to be it will happen, if not I still have a job.

Keep in touch and keep up the good work- Lighterload

  5. Hey Tig,

How are you doing? I have not heard from you and I was getting worried. Hope all is OK.

I am now 15 days post oP and I feel absolutely wonderful. I saw my surgeon Tuesday and I have lost 32 lbs already. I go for my first fill on 4/28. My surgeon is very aggressive with fills so I expect to get a fill of about 5 or 6 cc. I can hardly wait. I have more energy now than I have had in a year. I surely hope you are OK and things are going as well for you too- Lighterload

  6. Hey doodlebug11, how are you? I am 9 days out from having my bad placed. The pre Op diet is not fun but I am making it through fine. Since my surgeon has me on a strict liquid diet, I have learned creative ways with little. I added some spicy V8 to my broth and called it dinner. Jello has become my lunch and I sip water tainted with the liquid Protein bullets all day long. I feel good now but the first week was tough. Looking forward the banding on March 25th- Ligheterload

  7. Thank you for you kind words, I appreciate that. You are right, people just do not care any more, life is all about them.

I have copied down your email address and I will be emailing you, maybe just to have a shoulder to lean on with someone who does give a darn.

I am recovering but really sore with this surgery. I was telling Tig about the inscision being so much larger this time after the repair. I refuse to take pain meds but I will get through this.

Take care and my email address is raisingfoals@hotmail.com

I will be in touch, Janet

  8. Hey Doodlebug,

I am so glad you are doing OK and are now back to work. I am sorry getting back in the groove of work was tough on you. I have an office job as Nurse Manager so it was not bad for me other than being backed-up for 2 1/2 weeks. It took me a full week to get caught up. I am fine now. I go tomorrow for my first fill and full set of labs, then off to work to host a Corporate meeting for 12 at my clinic. It will be another busy day. I like it busy, I never have time to even think about food.

Yes, I do know where Gila Bend is and I live in out in the desert like that too. I live way east of Phoenix near the mountains.

It was super hearing that you are doing so well. Keep in touch and I will look forward to hearing from you on the weekends. I know its tough for me to get on line during the week too, with work.

Take care and will chat soon, Lighterload

  9. Hey DB,

Is your surgery stilled planned for next week? I am 10 days post Op and I have to tell you, it was not that bad at all. I was vomiting for two days post op but its been all up hill since. Lost 21 lbs pre surgery on that 21 day liquid diet. I see my surgeon on Tuesday so I am anxious to see how much more I have lost. keep in touch- Lighterload

  10. hey Tig,

Well here it is 10 days post op and I am feeling great. I was unable to contact anyone prior to this since my internet service was out for almost 2 weeks. We are back to normal now.

I do not feel surgery was bad at all. I had no gas pains as most talk about just had a very sore tummy, like I did about 400 sit-ups. I was not hungry until about 3 days ago and I am now starting on soft foods. I see my surgeon on Tuesday and it will be back to work for me the following Monday. I had lost 21 lbs pre op, on that liquid diet and I will be anxious to see how much more I lost since surgery on 3/25/09. Keep in touch- Lighterload

  11. What kind of scooter are you ridin? I rode a Harley for years, until I got to big for the bike but I am in the process of fixing that.

  12. Hey DB,

I was so glad to hear you are doing better, I was worried about you. Absolutely, you can use me as your guide, anytime.

I lost 21 lbs. on the 3 week pre Op liquid diet. Exactly a pound a day. Then I went for banding, was home for 13 days and had my post op appointment. I had lost another 11 lbs, totaling 32 lbs. I see my surgeon on 4/28 for my first fill and he is aggressive, I believe I will have a fill of about 5 cc.

I was swollen for about a week, then things statred turning around, the swelling went down, the soreness subsided and I was feeling normal again. It does take a good week to stablize. I have been out running and shopping for the past week so I bounced back quickly. I go back to work Monday and I am ready, I have all this excess energy.

You take it easy and give yourself some time to bounce back, the worst part is over, the rest is willpower and determination.

    Keep in touch- Lighterload

  13. Hi,

Well, you are over a month into your journey, how is it going? I will be banded next month and I envy all of you that are on your way.

  15. Hey DB,

Went for my first fill. That was not fun. My surgeon could not find the port and probed and poked me 13 times with an 18g needle before he found the port and was able to do the fill. I am so bruised and sore. He told me it would not be like that again as he measured and marked where the port is, in my records. I am down 41 pounds now and feel great except for the sore tummy. Wishing you well, Lighterload

progress.gif This is what I had sent. Sounds like you are having internet issues like i had for over a month.......LL

  16. Hey girl,

Glad to hear you surgery was moved up. By now you are home recovering. Hope all is going well.

I have not been to this site for weeks, had a death in the family and they are now believing that the pain in my hip, that I have had for almost 2 years is caused by a compressed nerve so off to a Neurologist in 2 weeks. Sure hope thay can fix this, I refuse to live on Narcotics.

Down 56 lbs. now and moving toward my thrid fill.

    Keep in touch, Lighterload

  17. Hey DB, I am praying for you and know tomorrow is your big day. You will be fine, just a bit sore for the first week. Now that I am 12 days post Op. I feel wonderful and I am still not hungry but I eat as directed.

I can't wait to hear your story, when you feel able. Best wishes and my prayers are with you- Lighterload

  18. Hey jai jai,

Well its all over, I am now 12 days post Op and feeling fabulous. I hadf lost 21 lbs on the 21 day pre Op liquid diet and I bet I have lost another 10 or better since surgery. I see my surgeon on Tuesday and I am so anxious to find out my total loss to date. I have one more week off work, have to get out and buy a recumbant bike for my exercise routine since walking is out of the question for me. I have a crumbled right hip and walk with a cane or use the motorized w/c. I do have a pool but its a bit too cool to swim yet, so the bike will be great until I can use the pool. Hope you are doing well- Lighterload

  19. Hey DB, Good to hear from you. I am glad you got the last email I resent. I am doing OK, at last check I was down 41 lbs and that was the weight at my fill. I am not a scale jumper so I have no clue as to my total loss now. I won't know until I go back to the surgeon on June 6th. He does not like his patients getting the scale all the time, he says it can be discouraging. I do not feel much restriction from my first fill and it was not a fun experience. I am going to ask the surgeon if he can really put a restriction on me come June 6th.

The weather here in AZ is warming up quickly so I will be in the pool real soon doing those laps.

I seem to be able to eat just about anything except cottage cheese and bread, so I am pleased.

Hope you are feeling well and losing.

Get back to you next weekend. Lighterload

  20. Hey Socalfosh,

Good to hear from you. I have not been on LBT in weeks either as my internet went out. I live way out in the desert in AZ so this is the only high speed ISP we can get here and when its out, it takes weeks to get someone out to fix it. UGH

Surgery went well, I am down 38 pounds now and go for my first fill on Tuesday 4/28. I am looking forward to it. Bought myself a new truck as a reward. Bought a 2009 Silverado Z-71 4x4. I got the truck on Tuesday as I am having extras put on it. I have not felt this good in 2 years, this journy is amazing. Keep in touch, Lighterload
