    Good protein drink

Oh my gosh this thread was so helpful, thanks all! I start the liquid protien preop diet today. I am worried about being hungery and calorie count. My doc put me on the preop diet for 2week before surgery 6/8. I have stocked up on all sort of protien drinks yet haven't tried any yet. I guess the next few days will be the hardest. Oh the calories on this preop the shakes are 170calories or 100cal then one low fat meal a day. The nutrionist said I could have little snake like nuts or fruit veggies but this diet seems to keep the calories 1000 or less, isn't that bad? After banding I understand the gradual diet change clears 2days then liquid protien for 7days then soft. I wonder is anyone else doing this same thing and worried about the complete drop in calories on your metabolise and working out with that little calories, I will just have to see how I feel by friday when I go in for blood work and all the pre op stuff.
  2. I am right with you, I start the preop diet tomorrow morning and I work night 7pm-7am, my diet is weird because of work, want here something that sucks it was my 14years old b-day and my house is filled with cake, ice cream and junk food. I am worried but at the same time trying to remain positive. I did find a clue from other diets that eating fiber and protien fill you up. Try fiber pills with the protein shakes. I am trying the Eas shakes that have more protein and 4gram of fiber per container there are also 170 calories each. I am to due preop work this Friday. I am not wanting to be out of work long 2-3weeks tops because I just can't afford to miss work. I am also having one those nice shakes every 3-4 hrs because I am hypoglyemia Idon't want my sugars to drop. My BMI is 43 bordline 44 I can't drop below 40 and be ok with insurance so I don't want lose more then 5-8lbs on preop and I have 14 days of it. Ouch!!! Hope I help you.

my problem is I don't want the whole program through the health wellness thing I don't wish to pay the 750 dollars for something I don't need. Dr Nagy said to me it would be fine just to get the eval. Judy has not sent a copy of something with his or a doc signature on it so I can make this appointment that the Health wellness place canceled on me for this week. Oh my gosh I am so frustrated. I called the supervisor at the office. I was told my my insurance I can go through any surgeon:confused: but it has to been done at Penrose so who else is there?????

I am so frustrated because I have to go to the springs for my band because of insurance. Judy the one in the office I need to talk to who gets insurance approval and set my next appointment with is so hard to reach I have been playing phone tag with her. I am going to the springs on Friday to get the eval's done. Man I feel stuck I want to see doc Nagy again so I can set the date for the surgery. It funny about everyone saying they are losing BCS because even the doc expressed to me how they are the center of Excellent and he has done more then 60 band and many bipasses. I wish my insurance gave me more choices. I am stuck!!! naomi

    Calorie Counting...

I am new and looking to get the band this summer. What is this sleive thing? I get nervous about getting this done. Give me some info. Would you do it again? Thanks:thumbup:
  13. I am so glad you have posted this. I have not be banded yet and my struggle is I learned the hard way about artificial sweeteners. I actually get joint pain when I eat them and have had some abnormal labs from them. When I stopped eating that bad stuff my joint and leg pains have went away and my ESR went back to normal. I say we can't trust the FDA or our government run by big money we need to be self educated, and learn to make good choices.
  14. baby blue, doctors don't always have the best bedside manner but it doesn't mean they are not good at what they do. I am in nursing school and plan to have the surgery done come May some time. I see my doc next week. Yet, yesterday was my OR day so I got to watch surgery on a person. Now, she didn't get the Lap band, but she did get Lapscopic surgery and I was amazed how invasive it was and how quick it was. I have had surgery before so getting the band that part doesn't not scare me, it is living with it afterwards and losing the weight for good. I have a nurse at work who got it done, she missed less then 2 weeks, she was on light duty for those times but she is getting along great with the band and the weight lose has been slower then she thought it would be, but everyone body is different. I hope this helps.

    Irritation

I have not been banded, but I am going through nursing school right now and I would have to say that doesn't sound right and I would get back into the doctor, you don't want to get dehydrated. How long have you been banded? Have you lost much weight? I hope you get better and keep losing the weight. :tt2:
  16. I am looking to be banded this coming May and have some worries and questions for those have had it done. How has it taken away hunger? Is the diet hard to follow? Do you still have cravings or want sugary stuff, do u feel full quickly? thanks nomebug:confused:
