    What made you do it.

Jennifer, Glad you open this thread and told your story. It was quiet sad, but I glad you can learn from the past and make changes for the future. I have tried for years to lose on my own. My mom told me to get the band I said I don't need surgery to lose, but I do. I have a co-worker who got it done and is losing slowly but haven't had much issues. I did the research and said if this what I need to do then I going to go through this. I was band 6/8/09 only one fill getting one more next week. I don't have a problem eating anything, unless I forget to chew like we are to do. I eat sometimes to much then it kind of hurts an hour afterwards. I am losing slowly so far lost 15lbs. I work out alot and learning to face my food problems. Trying to see food as a source of fuel not for funny or comfort as I have done in the past. I still eat some not healthy stuff, but smaller amounts. I need to lose 85 more lbs to reach my goal. i know I going to do it and I know I going to get healthly. Take each day as it goes and do what I can by eating righting and excerise. I am glad I got it.

  6. JessiA,

I am so new to this website didn't even know how to get your message. I am on softs, or not so much really. I been suffering because bad choices in things to eat. I do feel full, different full but full after much less, but I can't wait to be filled. I have even eaten salad just not much. I like tuna, easy to chew and make soft. I like cheese but thought about calories and going to start buying less fat cheese, but one slice helps me out. I have done fruit soft. I have had one night not proud of, did go out to eat ate 8bits salad slice bread and 2oz of meat, 1/4 baked potato and was very full. Then 3 hours later snack with kids at movies with candy and popcorn and was in pain. I paid for that. So, with this I think we learn our lesson and keep learning until we start losing. This has been the toughest baddle of my life, Losing weight. I gotta give time and for my body to heal and ajust to this new life. I will see the scale move. YOU will see the scale move.

    Can't control the hunger

I totally understand, unlike others I had to do liquid for a week then mushy for another then to soft. I haven't followed the soft, but I make it soft in my mouth I chew and chew. I have started really walking and more exercise I can do for now. I get low blood sugar, so I am sticking to higher in protein. My surgeon said don't worry about calories but I do, but the amount I can eat. The first week I barely ate, wasn't hungry. Lost those nice 6lbs too. Now, hungry. Yet, unlike others I am full after much less then I used to be able to eat. Tonight, black beans 1/2 cup. One small soft taco, I had little cheese salsa even lettuce but chew chew chew. I did found if you try to eat more it hurts! I just want to see the scale move like everyone else. I also don't want food to control me. I have to be careful because I get the low blood sugar that doesn't feel well. I got that the first week because I wasn't eating enough, but wasn't hungry so forced my self with those protein shakes. I do think counseling and journaling is helpful. I think getting the band has made me look long and hard at my self, health, body and where I am and where I want to be. It is not going to come off so quick, like all of us wish it could. I know I got work at this, make the band work for me. Make me work out as much as I can with my crazy life. The weight will come off in time. I just know it. I also make sure you eat often enough you don't get so darn hungry you try to over eat, I did that so so much before the band. So be positive and do some deep looking at your love for food. I have ever since I started this process. It is a work in progress, I am in a work in progress. Today, I feel I failed I looked at my calories and because of bad choice not so much amount I feel Ididn't do well. I did walk for more then one hour, then went roller skating for one hour. I am a little sore and tired, but I want to be active and move and not be so hard. I put my self through this surgery I had to take alot time off from work, I want it so bad to lose the weight and the love of food. I don't want food to control me, but be able to eat those things I want but so so much less and feel fine about eating so much less. So, as I spill out my heart I hope it helps anyone else on here going through this same process.

2month post op and not losing

I am so ready for my first fill. I got banded 6/8 came back to see him one week later at that time no appetite. But now hungry and haven't lost as much. I am walking a ton! Writing down what I eat and how much. My doc not concerned with calories but I am he wants to know how much portion. I got start measuring my self, but the tummy still fills some what swollen still. I go for my first fill on 7/7. I am just trying to do low cal easy to digest foods with high protein. I have kept my calories for most part 1200-1500 a day. I so want see the scale move again like it did. I haven't had a hard time with eating anything soft so far. I am ready though to see the numbers drop!!!!!!!!!!

    Post-Op Blues

It is strange to me all this doctors don't have the same post op diet. Clears for 2weeks, that just doesn't seem right. Hopefully you are taking vitamins. Yet, you need the protein healing process. I only had clears for 2days, then liquid protein for a week, now mushy. I fill up easy and am not that hungry. I see my doc today. Still, sore but not even as bad. I don't like tight clothing on my tummy. Can sleep in my bed, and sleep on my sides just being careful when i get to my side and have pillow in front of my tummy. I hope everyone else is feeling better too.:bored:

    Post-Op Blues

astera, I am right there with you with gas pain and stomach or ingesting rumbling. Oh my gosh I hate it. I think that is one reason I am not hungry. My tummy is sore those muscles, but nothing like the gas pain. I have back and shoulder pain. Ok hard question was anyone scared to have to go number 2,(poop)? My tummy still so sore and feel as though I need to go but way to much gas!!! I am going to do much more walking today and hope that helps. I also can't lay flat on back or sides still to sore. Was just banded 6/8. I am also so tired sleep can be hard, was very hard to sleep the first night. Last night woke up when pain meds wore off then took more and took about hour to get back to sleep. I going to go take a nap now before I try walking outside hoping to do 45minutes, I know it will wear me out. Thanks for all the tips nome

    June 2009 Surgery

Mine is tomorrow, so nervous but glad to get this part over I didn't follow the pre op diet to well. I am in hopes and prayers it all goes well and I keep seeing the scale drop in numbers. Weird question I started my period Friday will they be concerned with blood lose? I am still on it and will most likely tomorrow for the surgery. I just want get it over with and on to that lovely liquid diet for a week. :blushing:

    How did you change?

I am banded Monday, so sick of the pre op diet!!! My nutrionist told me because my blood sugar tends to drop easy I need to have small snacks specially when I am active and working out. So far on the pre op diet, I haven't done to the tea,but I have lost 5lbs. I am excited about Monday and not looking forward to the pain and the one week of liquid protien diet, those shakes can be so borring I have to spice things up with my blender and fresh fruit. I think as long as you are losing what does snacks matter it is about health food. I was so tormented when my kids made brownies last night filling my house with that evil chocolate yummie smell. I didn't have one!!! Proud of my self! Now my worry is I have to work 5days later after surgery on my feet mabye up to 8hrs, I am excepting to be sore and tired. I hope to see the scale move down and down I don't care if it is only 5lbs a month it moving down, and when i get below 200 I will be so excited. starting 243 surgery 6/8 now 237
  19. This third was so helpful. I am banded Monday and the nerves and anxious is getting to me. I don't want lose to fast I dont' know what to expect about feeling hungery afterwards. I read alot about others and there experience this the one big reason I decided to get the band. This third everyone was so truthful, honest and that helped calm my nerves and release this my journey I will make it happen. Thanks
  20. This pre op diet sucks i started ok but with my very so crazy busy life i haven't done so well. Not worried about liver or anything with surgery I had my gall bladder out in 2000 and was heavier just having a child, and had no issues. I still get nervous about the days after surgery, I get those fears it wont help me or something. I had such a reality check over the weekend when my kids took a picture of my from behind. That is where my fat is most, legs and butt. I realized I don't see my self as fat and I am. I am glad I am making this choice to a healthier life. I know there is the 140lb girl in me, that is how I think of my self. I am just not there yet. I am excited and nervous and praying for a phycial mental change this band can help bring about in my life.
  21. My doc is I think trying to jump start the weight lose because he told me to start the diet on the 26th but my surgery is the 8th and the paper work says start the 7or 10 days before the surgery. What ever! Doctors! I work with them and surgeons, not my favorite. I have cheated again. Ouch but still lost 3lbs on the scale, more then likely water weight. I don't like those shake I only had one yesterday then at one meal out. It was my 14years birthday. She went with me to the preop appointment the drive I have to drive to see my doc and have this done is 1hr to 11/2hrs with traffic. I am leaving this morning to the mountains to my girls gymnastic meet then spending the night and we are going fishing the next day as a family. Diet can be on issue when you are traveling and busy. I am bring those shakes lots water and protein snacks. On my preop check list I saw the chest xray. Oh by the way I work in a hospital already and in the nursing program seen surgeries done, just not this one I am having. Anyways, I was just caught running into someone I know and they never had me do a chest xray. Did anyone else get a xray? I did get the blood work and the ekg, if they really want one they can get the day of. I hate being a patient I like being the nurse or CNA so that is my fear in it all.
  22. Fang, Where did you learn that? It make since we are mostly water anyways and I just started this preop diet 3shakes day drink lots more water to try to curve hunger and one meal and little snakes when needed. The thing is I have been peeing like crazy. i going to weigh my self tomorrow see what it says. I do preop blood work and stuff friday but surgery isn't until the 8th. I am hidding this from co-workers and even a few friends. I work in health care and don't want them examining me. I hate feeling hungery I slowing get down the shakes to keep things take time to digest. Iwonder why the high protien and low carb?
  23. DAY 2!! THE 1ST DAY NOT SO HARD TODAY OH MY GOSH I CHEATED I WAS SO HUNGERY ALL DAY. I ALSO FEEL PMS COMING ON. IT SUCKS THOUGH, BECAUSE I WENT FROM CALORIES OF 2000/2400 TO 1200 IF THAT, OUCH BODY NOT USE TO IT. MY SURGERY IS THE 8TH NERVOUS AND EXCITED AT THE SAME TIME. THIS DIET IS 3 PROTIEN SHAKES WITH ONE MEAL AND LOW CALORIE FRUIT VEGGY SNACKS. I REALLY GOT TAKE THIS DAY BY DAY AND SOMETIMES HOUR BY HOUR AND STAY OUT OF THE KITCHEN. THE BAD THING IS I DON'T FEEL LIKE I HAVE THE ENGERY TO GO TO THE GYM AND DO MY NORMAL WORKOUT. PRAYER IS GOING TO GET MY THROUGH THIS. :crying:
