  1. Hi Ashley, Hang in there! You will start to feel better eventually. I was banded on 2/24 and I'm finally starting to feel like myself again. Apart from soreness at the wound sites, I have not really eaten much, had the killer D since the surgery and overall was just feel like I'd been hit by a bus. Take it one day at a time, even one hour at a time if you have to. Try to stay hydrated, follow your drs recommendations for what you should be eating, walk a bit and rest when you can.

    4 days banded

Hey JulsJourney, Two things: I have that same pain under my left-side ribs, particularly when I take a deep breath! It's so annoying and keeps me up at night. I don't think it's gas because those pains have come and gone (thankfully). Would you share with me what your dr. said? And I noticed you're in NJ. If you wouldn't mind me asking, where did you have your surgery?

    Belching

MargenOhio: Were you talking to me about being too tight? I just got banded on the same day as you and haven't had anything solid yet. I just think the lack of belching is due to my recovery more than anything. At least, that's what I'm hoping.
  4. Banderoo! I'm glad you posted. I've been thinking of you and was hoping things were calming down a bit. Your last post was 3/1 where you said you were seeing the doctor today. What did he say and do you/dr. have a plan to get rid of your extreme discomfort? I'm feeling better but still not perfect. Tomorrow is a week and I'm hoping the get-better magic wand is waved over my head and I can start to feel truly human again. Thinking of you...and all the other 2/24ers (and everyone else, naturally).

    Belching

Strangely enough, I'm having a hard time burping and I really need to do so. I miss having the relief of a burp when things are going crazy in my stomach. I've managed to get a few out but for the most part, I feel like I'm never going to get that good just-burped moment. Oh, the things we tolerate. I hope it gets resolved and that the source of the problem is identified.
  7. I'm just amazed that the players can just walk away from their lives for whatever period of time. They can't all be independently wealthy, right? Nonetheless, it's great fun to watch, even if it's a totally contrived situation.
  8. Was just banded on 2/24 and I've got a way to go but I can't wait to: 1) Tuck my shirts in a cute pair of jeans. 2) Exercise and be active with anything without worrying about looking like a blob or not being able to do it. 3) Take more pictures of me with my family. I play The Photographer now so I don't have to be in the photos. and to add more: 4) Look good in a bathing suit. 5) Feel GREAT in my body!
  9. Hi all, Still working things out so thanks in advance for your input. Feeling less pain (banded on 2/24) which makes this journey and learning stage much more tolerable. I take Wellbutrin XL 150 which I was told I couldn't take (even crushed) due to the extended-relief nature of the XLs-types of medication. So I switched to regular Wellbutrin 75 which I'm supposed to crush twice a day to get the same dose. The only thing is: how do you all get those crushed pills down? Taking them is so awful I shudder even typing this . So far, I've tried putting the crushed pills in gatorade (yuck), strawberry syrup which is OK but still insanely bitter even with the overly sweet pinkness. Tonight I tried mixing the pills into a teaspoon of no-fat Cool Whip because I couldn't think of anything else. I only gagged a couple of time which is an improvement..I guess. So what do you all do to get the pills down? There must be some secret trick I haven't yet learned . I have to crush pills for a month. After that, I can cut them down which will be much easier. But a month is long way off though. Also, I'm trying not to take the pain meds anymore and have switched to regular Tylenol. The only problem: the Rapid Blast Adult liquid Tylenol is NASTY. What other solutions have you found? Thanks for you help! –Ruth P.S. I got on the scale and I'm down 14 lbs. Is that real weight loss or is it merely a reflection of eating next to nothing for the past week?
  10. Hey Derbin247, I was banded on 2/24 and though I didn't experience weight gain, I was in miserable pain until yesterday when all seem to settle down. I still have some lingering after effects from surgery but I'm hoping these too will go away before my 1-week anniversary. Oh, and BTW, I had 2 c-sections and this was so much worse. I think because I was in the hospital for 4 full days for each of my children, the 2nd-day-in-the-worst rule played out differently with nursing care and my nurse-in-a-box (that self administering pain meds miracle machine). Anyway, onward and upward,er, I meant...downward.:hurray:

    4 days banded

Hi all, I was banded on the 24th and today am just starting to feel human. I've been hardly eating, partly because I'm somewhat terrified and partly because I am not sure if the feeling in my stomach are hunger. And even when I do eat, I feel quite strange. What I have been managing to get down is Greek Yogurt. It's high in Protein and tastes quite yummy. I've also has a few spoonfuls of SF pudding. I haven't been having too many Protein shakes. The one I bought is gross which leads me to think they are all going to be that way (which I know isn't true). Trial and error is going to be necessary with this, for sure. The best news of the last couple of day is that i was actually able to sleep on my side (had about 12 pillows shoved in there for supports ) but I managed to get some real sleep, which was enormously helpful. Hope you all start to feel better soon. –Ruth

    3 days post op diarrhea

Hi! I was banded on 2/24 and I also have terrible diaherria. I think it's subsiding though. I don't think it's from anything I've eaten (which is next to nothing). Pain medication, the gas used and the fact that someone was tromping around in my intestines seems to be a logical reason for this. I'm looking forward to this symptom disappearing.
  13. Hi Banderoo (and all the other 24thers), I'm home and completely miserable too. I can't believe I did this to myself. I know it's going to get better but right now, I can hardly move without pain, I have terrible gas (and diaherria) and couldn't find a comfortable position for sleeping last night. I spent a good part of the night cursing the insurance companies because I suspect i would have been more comfortable had I been in the hospital for another night. i also has 2 c-sections so I know what pain feels like. This is totally different. Ugh. How are you feeling banderoo?
  14. Hi all, I started my liquid diet this morning and though I'm fine with having tea for Breakfast, I realize I'm EXTREMELY nervous. All the good to come from this life change seems really far off, though I know I will make it happen. Now I'm focused on the surgery, making it through and coordinating everyone's lives. Anyone else getting banded on 2/24 and have it truly hit you - this is REAL? Anyone else with words of encouragement? Thanks for all your input. R.
  15. JENNIFER7375: My surgery is at New York Weill Cornell Hospital with Dr. Pomp. Still nervous though...
  16. Hi Banderoo! My surgery is tomorrow too and I have to be there at 5:45 AM which means I'm the first surgery. I'm not sure if it's my insurance, a regional thing (I'm in NYC) or the practice of my doctor but I will be staying over night tomorrow. I had two c-sections and know the more time I have to rest and recover before returning to Mom Duty, the better. So basically, I'm welcoming the overnight. The choreographing of the little ones is quite complicated though. Best of luck with that. Good luck tomorrow and I will be thinking of you and all the rest of the February (and particularly the 2/24) group.
  17. newdicarlo: Good luck to you too! I can't believe it's here for me. I swing between panic and excitement and everything in between. I wonder if I'm going to be able to sleep tonight?

    Surgery 2/26/09

Good luck with the surgery! Mine is tomorrow :hurray:! How about a little bit of extra exercise? Maybe that would help?
  19. I'm really nervous about the anesthesia too but I guess right now, I'd have to say I'm nervous about the whole thing. Jennifer: where are you having your surgery?
  20. vicp446: I'm having my surgery at Cornell in the city with Dr. Pomp. And you?
  21. Hi. I'm new here and having Lap Band surgery with Dr. Pomp on 2/24...one day after your fill :tt2:. I'm really nervous about the whole thing but know Dr. Pomp is a more than a well-respected surgeon. He was promoted to Chief of Laparoscopy and Bariatric Surgery in April of 2008 and he (and his staff) have been nothing but helpful. Good luck on the fill. I will be interested to hear how it goes!
