  1. I have been working out for the last two years and I do OK however at times I do not think that I am working out to my potential. I am really thinking about getting a personal trainer to help were I am lacking. I was wondering if anyone has used a personal trainer and their results. I have the cardiovascular portion figured out it is the strength training/weight lifting part I am not so good on. I have lost 110 pounds and have a lot of excess skin and no excess money to get a TT
  2. I had to go on a very strict diet for two weeks prior to my surgery and I lost 33 pounds in those weeks. I think I lost about 2-5 pounds a week and then after about two months it tapered down. Remember the old saying you did not put in on over night so you will not loose it over night. Everyone is different too. I lost 115 pounds in a little over a year.

    Spicy food

I had to have all of my fluid removed form my band today because I ate some spicy food and it triggered wicked acid reflux. It lasted about four days and after that all I could keep down was liquids yesterday I could not even keep liquids down. My doctor actually wanted to admit me for IV medications and fluids. I think because I have had my band for awhile (7 yrs) I am more sensitive to reflux now than I was prior. I cannot even eat a sliver of a raw onion without almost instant regret. I am on Prilosec and Protonix. Just be careful everyone is different. Carley you do not want to drink with the band because now you basically have two stomachs the pouch from your band and the one you were born with. The food that you eat will stay in your pouch and slowly breakdown and then will slip down into your stomach and digest. If you drink it will push your food through the pouch and into your stomach and now you fell like you did not even eat and it defeats the purpose of the band. My physician does not want me to drink 30 minuets prior to eating or during and then wait an hour after eating before drinking.

    stretch stomach lap band

You can go on line and there is a plan called the 5 day pouch test. I was concerned that I had also stretched out my pouch. I found out how much more restriction I actually had. After three days on the plan I felt like I had a fill. It really is not difficult to follow. There is a book about it however I found enough information on the internet especially on YouTube about the plan that I did not have to buy the book. Good luck.

    So Bad!!!!

I use My fitness pal. It is a free site that allows you to document all the foods that you eat daily. You just enter the food you ate and how much and it will calculate the numbers for you. You make up a profile of how many calories, fat, carbs ect... that you want daily. It is an awesome site. If you have a smart phone you scan the bar code on your phone like at the grocery store andit enters it. If you like to keep a journal you also have the option to print your daily summaries. I have totally been there too. The fact that you recognized it and decided to take action means that you have climbed back onto the wagon. I agree that you have already proven that you can loose weight just keep moving forward and watch that scale go down. Good luck I know you will get back on track.

    Night time complications

I have the same problem. I have had to have my fluid totoally removed three times becuase of this. I started to have esophageal spasms which mimic same symptoms of a heart attack. Sever tightness in your chest, shortness of breath, sweating and jaw pain. I talked tomy doctor and they did a upper GI which showed severe relux with gastritis. I also had scope done last year and showed inflammation and redness from my esophagus down into my stomach. They tested me for Barrots esophagus which is caused from long term acid reflux that actually changes the lining of the esophagus and make you high risk for esophageal cancer. The test result came back positive : ( I was placed onto Protonix. I found that my reflux is worse at night if I take my medications and then go to bed. I now try to remember to take my medictions with dinner. You can also buy a wedge pillow that elevates your head at night. I paid under $25 at bed bath and beyond helped a lot. I know the feeling ,truly I have had to sleep sitting up in a chair because the relux was so severe. It helped the most to have al of the fluid removed and then eat "flu food" for about a week. Good luck.
  8. It is because you changed your eating habits. I have had my band a while and still do not know what to expect each day.

    Am I too tight?

I would just wait and see. I have had symptoms like that after a fill and it seems to go away after awhile. You may be advancing your diet to fast. Try soft foods and advance. Good luck.

    6 days out and nervous

I think that a lot of time it is just habit. I had my band placed in 2005. You never forget the urge and the want of food. The band is a tool. You have to re-train yourself to recognize hunger and want. It will get easier just hang in there. Make sure that you are taking in enough protein because that helped me with hunger.
