  2. With my experience my band worked great the first year now I'm not losing any weight I lost 120 lbs that first year which is awesome but I'm sitting at 212 lbs and I want to be 160 and I'm not budging as of now. Its all about exercise and what goes into your mouth. I have recently started using my fitness pal app on my phone and its helping me to track my calories which I was not doing before. My band is tight and I have good restriction I'm just not losing any weight so sometime they band does not always work like you had hoped it would. I am so thankful for the 120lbs loss though. not complaining just wish I could be at my goal. Which may never happen.

food and drinks I can not eat/drink

NO SODA period can't have the carbonation

    doughy breads

    rice

    tough steak

pretty much I can get anything else down.

    Risks are:

the band could slip, erosion, the port could flip, I got a hernia near my port from the incision just being cut into and made that area weak. So more than one surgery I've had the initial lap band surgery another surgery to fix a large port and now I got to have surgery to fix the hernia so repeat surgery is possible. just google the lap band risks there are a lot of them but honestly there small risks and that should not deter you from a life changing experience.

  3. I have noticed my port is swelling I was banded June 3, 2010 and have had no issues I have the low profile port or the tiny port and I noticed 2 weeks ago that it was huge felt like a golf ball and I have never really felt the port and its been hard for the doctor to find unless i put a pillow under my back during fills. Now I lay on my back and I got a golf ball sticking up its not pain full but then on top of that I have been burping nasty smelling burps like something is rotting or egg smelling and I haven't eaten eggs. This has been going on for over a week with the burping and it goes on all day long. Anyone else have this problem? I have called my DRs office I have an appointment on Monday but just wondering what could be the issue. I have also not been losing weight for a while now almost 8 months I have stay the same weight.

    Thanks for any input

  4. Wow way to go Sue that's incredible in 8 months!!! It's hard for me right now with losing I have three small kids and my husband who are not over weight and I'm cooking for them. I try to eat under 1200 calories a day and track everything but I get busy and forget some days. Then other days I really want to be thin then I'm like we'll does it matter I've lost 135 pounds I look ok but not skinny I dunno my brain loves to play games with me. I'm just kinda staying around 210 to 215 right now. I'll be happy once I'm under 200 I think I would love for the scale to be 100s not 200s. Hopefully this year it will. But awesome job to you sue and Dennis you to great job on your weightloss!!

  5. So I have been recording what I've been eating and I wish I was doing this from the get go I might of lost more weight the last year. Well since I've started July 27 recording my intake I've lost 5 lbs I was at a stand still on losing for a very long time over 6 months so thank you both for telling my to record what I eat and making it easy with that app. ;)

  6. I was banded June 3, 2010 and I lost over 100 lbs the first year the second year I only lost about 25 lbs but I am happy I didn't gain. The band was the best decision I have ever made for my health. I would do it all over again in a heart beat I feel amazing I can run, I can play with my kids. I don't feel ashamed when I go out. I still have 50 lbs to lose to be at goal but the band does work miracles if you just stick to what your doctor tells you to do.

  7. Every time I ask my doctor what I can do to lose weight with graves his reply is that it's almost impossible because most of the weight is from Water weight from the medication ugh nothing can be impossible I just got to show them it's not impossible. So far today I went for a walk and did some squats and I'll work out again tonight some Zumba or a bike ride not sure yet but I really wanna see the scale say 1 something not 200's anymore.

  8. Thanks for all your inspiring words Dennis and ilean it helps me a lot. I am currently going for my AS in Nursing (RN) and in October I will be adding a phlebotomy degree to my list. I have a long way to go to become a nurse since I have no medical background. The phlebotomy is a way to get my foot in the door at a hospital and it's a hands on 8 week course so short and sweet. I really don't know how to count cards and Protein in all that can you to explain how to know what's in the food I'm eating and what are some things to defiantly steer clear of.

  9. Graves disease is a serious struggle it has made me a completely different person mentally some days I'm just in the worst mood ever and I don't know why. I feel depressed and have no energy to workout let alone get off my butt to clean my meds made things worse I'm so sensitive to medicine it gives me side effects like moody and can't remember things it sucks, but nothing I can do other than keep pushing forward. I don't want to give up I want to be healthy and thin. My current goal is to be less than 200 lbs by September 30th so 17 lbs I want to try and lose by then

  10. To be honest no I normally eat what I want to but in tiny amount about a cup of food 3 times a day with 1 snack a day. That's why I need help. I got 3 kids 9, 7, and 2 plus I'm a student so I'm normally always so busy I just eat whatever. But I'm filled in my band to almost max it's very tight but not to tight. I'm not getting stuck on a daily basis I throw up rarely.

  11. I'm Ashley I'm 28 about to be 29 next month I was banded June 3, 2010 I weighed 345 lbs I'm currently at 216 I lost most of my weight my first year banded and maintained 230lbs for quite sometime. I found out I have graves disease in april of this year which is a hyper active thyroid. now that I'm on meds it's so much harder to lose weight. But honestly I need to get back on the wagon I haven't been exercising like I used to. I need motivation. And support.

  12. I have lost 110 pounds in the last year and my port has been fine, about 3 days ago i was bending over and all kinds of pain around my port area. now when I sit down and bend over it pinches and feels bruised on the inside. anyone else has this issue. I made an appointment with my doctor but its not for 5 days.

  13. Hi I was also banded June 3rd 2010 and to date have lost 44 lbs in the beginning I had no motivation and was not feeling full. then In november a few days before Thanksgiving I finally felt restriction and it felt great I have a 14cc's band and I have 10cc's in it and I am tight. I never ever exercised then one day I got my but off the couch and said what the hell I started a biggest loser workout dvd. I FELT SO AWESOME after that work out I had so much energy the rest of the day I want more and more of that energy. I walk almost everyday or ride my bike and if its cold out walk inside or do a workout video. I eat pretty much what I want in small amounts No chocolate or sweets though I was caving them in the beginning and I did eat them daily but I have learned to tell myself NO. I hope this helps some
