okay, I called and went in and he took out 5ccs. Is 5 cc a lot for a first fill? I already feel sooooo much better, I drank a huge bottle of Water on my way home!!! Thanks for all the advice and help guys. Though now I'm afraid of getting a fill at all. He said I could come in and have 4cc put back in, in a week. I think I am going to start with like 2cc. What do you think?
-
I think I'm going to call. I can't even go five minutes without spitting up. It's getting worse tonight then it was all day. Why would that happen? Is it inflamation? Not to be a total downer, but I hate this freaking band!!!
-
Can you be tight after just your first fill? I think you're right though because i can't keep anything down. Should I call tonight or can it wait until morning? I keep spitting up tons of mucus even when I'm not drinking or eating. But I wonder if thats from my cold.
-
I had my first fill yesterday. I had liquids all day and until 3 this afternoon. Everytime I try to eat or drink anything today it comes back up. Even when I drink I feel like it sits right there until I burp/puke it out. I keep spitting up tons of mucus. I have a cold and I don't know if the extra mucus is causing every thing to get stuck. I had no restriction obviously before the fill and didn't loose any weight other then the 10lbs I lost on the liquid diet. So I think I need the restriction. Has anyone else had this problem? Does it take a few days for inflamation to go down?

Hey Margen!!
This sounds about like the liquid diet I've been eating the last two days. I've had yogurt and cottage cheese oh and mashed potatoes. I don't seem to have any issues with them.

Oh good god this has been a week!! Sorry I haven't posted I have been freaking miserable. The worst part has been this weird cramping spasm in my esophagus thats just random and very very painful. It trumped the gas pain. My doctor failed to mention that he did a hernia repair and now they think I may have a band position problem or some complication with the hernia repair. I am feeling much better today with no incision pain. But wow this had better get better because so far I am not a fan! I've lost 16lbs in just 2 weeks I go in to see my doctor tomorrow and I had better get some answers about this weird spasm cramping because I am OVER it! Thanks guys for all your help and advice this website is such a good resource with wonderful people!

I am 24 hours post op and I have been in extreme pain all 24. I came into pacu with the shoulder pain already so bad I was crying. I have a high pain tollerence I've had 3 c-sections and only took maybe one lortab for each on the first night. I also have had my gallbladder out and have had the normal shouder pain. This is different!!! I hurt so bad I can't get relief. I also have incision pain and distention bloating. Oh my god I can't believe I did this to myself. I put a call into my doctor but he hasn;t called back. Was anyone else this miserable?

Yes keep a close eye on it. You do not want an infection. The first few days out are scary and tough. If you still do not feel right go to the doctor or ER.I had surgery a week that it was very cold and I sat up on the recliner the first night. I had the chills every so often that caused my teeth to chatter but I had other complications too. I swelled so much that they had to go back in the next day and unbuckle my band. It all made me wonder if I made the right choice. However, things got better and while I still need to go back and get my band buckled in March I still think I made the right choice.
Hang in their and I hope you feel better. Let us know how it goes.
How did you know you needed to be unbuckled? I am 24 hours post op and I am in so much pain. I feel like I am bloated and swelling I had shoulder pain allready in pacu. I have a high pain tolerence, I have had 3 c-sections and took maybe one pain pill for each one on the first nights. This pain I'm having is almost untolerable.

Hey KartMan!
I have a 7yo girl too. She's a cuddler but I am more worried about my wild monkey 2yo boy he's a nut. My husband is going to be home with me, so I'm lucky. He's going to come to the hospital with me. So organizing baby sitting and getting kids to school for a whole day is the challenge with no close grandmas.

How many people stayed overnight with complications? I'm scheduled for tomorrow and I don't have any health issues and usually do well with anethstesia. I was wondering how long you're actually at the hospital for. I go in at 10:45.
-
Hi rathsog! Good luck tomorrow and I'll be thinking of you as well. I don't have to spend the night if I don't have any complications. I've had 3 c-sections and I've heard this is easy compared to those, so we'll probably do great!! I just don't want to be in the hospital for hours and hours. I hope I'm in and out. But you're right about resting before returning to mommy duty. Here's to tomorrow!!!

Tomorrow is my day! How long can I expect to be at the hospital? I have no medical issues and I check in at 10:45. I just need to plan for kids and stuff. My doctor did tell me but I can't exactly remember what he said. So if anyone has an estimation or how long yours took I would apreciate it!! Thanks!!

This is exactly why I am not telling anyone but my husband and my two best friends. They won't say anything about what I eat. My husband is just worried about how I'm feeling not what I'm eating. But I know most of my friends and family would be watching every bite I put in my mouth. These posts have really helped me feel better about not tellling!

Can anyone still eat sushi? Not sashimi but actual rolls or hand rolls? I am banded on the 24th and am on the liquid diet so I am just thinking of all the foods I may never eat again.
-
Well, I just got back and I didn't do it. Yay me!!! I came late drank Water and then went to the movie. I realize now I could have had wine, that's clear right? J/K!! I'm happy I stuck to it, it gives me confidence in myself.

I am getting banded on the 24th and I am going out tonight with my friends. I have been following the pre-op diet with no cheats. I am seriously considering having one last cheese burger!! Any thoughts? Did anyone else have one last easy meal?

I've had a lot of these same things. This thread above all others has made this pre-op week bearable and is keeping me from backing out. I don't know how to request it to be "sticky" but it should be. These are stories we all have and it helps to remember why we are doing this.

OMG thanks for the no Water to help it go down tip! I would have done that for sure. With the slime do you just have to keep swallowing it or do you spit it out?

Okay, so now I get that PB's are productive burps. How often do they happen? Is it really loud and obvious? Do you have time to get to a bathroom? What's this slime? Is it only with certain foods? Do you get some warning? Can they be prevented? I would just like some info on PB. I am banded on the 24 and this is the one last thing that is freaking me out. Oh and can anyone out there eat sushi after the band? I'm really going to miss sushi.

I'm not sure what kind of words of encouragement I can offer all of you. I will tell you that I was just banded 7 weeks ago, I have lost about 35 pounds. I have NEVER PBd or slimed. I was SOOOOOO anxious pre-op it. I am a nervous Nelly to begin with, added to the fact that I had never had surgery before, add that to the fact that I'm a RN and know all the weird things that can go wrong. But everything went FINE! Just take it easy, relax! Do your best to keep your fears and all of the what ifs aside. Life is full of what ifs. Spend a little time thinking about what if you don't have surgery and remain morbidly obese. I wish you all the very best! I look forward to hearing how each of you do. If you have any questions ask away!I'm a RN too. I think that makes me more anxious thinking of all the things that can happen. That's also why I'm doing the band over a bypass, I have seen way to many horror stories with that surgery.
