Gerber, It is possible that you will get approved. Tell the lady in your Doctors office to submit the paperwork and see what happens. I had a BMI of 38 and had Sleep Apnea and hypertension. I was approved in 5 days. I should also add that the coordinator at my doctors office was very reluctant to submit my paperwork and I told her to humor me and submit it.

It's been fairly easy which surprised me. I was able to eat at both Seders and had no issues.

Call care coordination. They should have given your doctor an approval number. It usually takes them about 14 days to send out the actual letter after you receive approval.

I'm doing really well. I had my first fill today. So now it's back to liquids. The fill was so quick and easy. I have 4cc's in my 10cc band.

Greyhoundgirl. I had my first fill today and it was pretty quick and easy. Apparently my doc had put 2 cc's when I had my surgery. The whole thing was done in literally a few minutes. My doctor had me hunch over and he found my port. I felt a small prick and he pulled out the Fluid that was in and then added 2 more cc's to bring me to a total of 4 cc's. It was cool seeing it done and the fluid in my band was blue!!! It really wasn't bad at all and I was surprised at how quick and easy it was.

I guess it depends on the plan you have. I have choice plus and the only out of pocket expenses I had were my doctor's program fee: $600, cost of the nutritionist: 2 visits x $105, Prescription meds: $50. I had a deductible of $255 that I had already satisfied. I've never heard of having to pay 50%...again check your plan.

Hey everyone! I was banded and 3/18 and I'm doing great. The first two weeks were pure hell on the liquid diet but now that I'm eating mushies/soft foods and the hunger isn't so bad. I've lost 20 lbs since being banded and I have pretty decent restriction and I'm having my first fill on 4/13.

WOW...It's so nice to hear everyone's responses. I guess I'm not alone after all. Crystal thanks for sharing that email and yes, I totally understand where your friend is coming from. I remember that uncomfortable overstuffed feeling. I don't miss it but it's weird not having that feeling. Right now I'm trying to re-work my relationship with food. I'm looking for healthier alternatives to the indulgent foods I use to eat. It's not easy but I'm sure I will triumph in the end.

Jennibells, Did you check the sugar and carb content of the oatmeal? Your insulun could be spiking and then making you hungry. Pezo: I have the same butt crack at my port site. It's weird and hope it evens out. As for my progress I'm now on soft solids and it's been interesting. The first time I had something semi solid I wasn't paying attention and bite of too big a piece. I knew I was in trouble the instant I swallowed. I panicked and took a sip of Water to get things moving but that didn't work. The water came right back up and the piece of meat followed there after. That happened on sunday and my band feels tight and irritated still. I've been more cognizant when I'm eating and have had no issues since. I have my first fill on 4/13 and I'm a bit nervous because I have pretty good restriction since I've started on solids. I'm worried how I'll feel once I'm a bit tighter. Also, why do you guys keep using this thread? There's a MArch 2009 sub group in the support forum.

Tell me about it!!! I didn't realize how much of social life revolved around food. Whether it was me cooking a huge dinner or going out with my friends...it was always centered around food. It's quite a difficult adjustment but I have my eyes on the prize and I'm not about to mess up this second chance.

Hey ladies! I've been taking Lybrel since 2007 and it's been amazing. I haven't had a period since november 2007. I had my surgery on 3/18 and sure enough couple days later Aunt Flo shows up. I can't begin to explain how hellish it is to have a period when you're newly banded. It's been 5 days and the period shows no signs of letting up. Has anyone had issues with birth control since getting banded.

I have the same plan as you and a 6 month diet wasn't required. You need a BMI of 40 and 5 years of documented weight. You can have a lesser BMI but you need comorbidities to qualify. Once I had all my info it was submitted and in 4 days I was approved. They do send you an approval letter in the mail which is a great reassurance. I had a BMI of 38 plus two comorbidities...I only had three years of documented weight and I still got approved. Something doesn't sound right...I would definitely keep calling. Maybe try the care coordination department and see if they can give you a clear answer.

Here's an egg recipe that some of you may like. It's a baked egg... Spray a ramekin with cooking spray. Crack one egg into the ramekin Add one serving of light Boursin cheese(about a tablespoon) Sprinkle about a teaspoon of chicken broth over the mixture Sprinkle with black pepper, salt and finely chopped basil leaf. Bake for 15 minutes You don't have to use Boursin cheese...you can use any light or low fat/fat free cheese. Once you're able to tolerate meat you can add pieces of proscuitto to it. You can also add green onions, garlic, red peppers etc. It's a nice way to have a soft egg with flavor.

Call your doctor if you're vomiting they will call something in for you that will settle your stomach. Please don't wait any longer...call now!

A little tip for you...the Protein vials are best if you put half of it in a cold bottle of Water plus Crystal light. In your case I would go with grape to match your protein. Don't try to drink the whole vial at once as your body won't absorb more than 20+ mg. I also like Oh yeah! In Vanilla and chocolate, nectar - Apple Ecstasy, Labrada Lean Body - Chocolate Milk shake. I got a great sample starter pack from bariatriceating.com It was a great way to try the different shakes without committing to buying a large one and then disliking it.

I agree with Laptastic! Your money would be best spent on cleaning your own house. There's nothing like having a clean home. Plus how thorough is the hotel about kashering? It's spring and Pesach...use this as an opportunity to give your house a thorough cleaning.

I'm officially done with this assinine conversation. Apparently people in Europe are incapable of understanding you had a procedure. The fact that you need to have a dialogue about this speaks volumes about you and your commitment to losing weight. Good luck with your trip and your "future weight loss".

Are you serious? You just got your band less than a month ago and you're thinking of sabotaging yourself before you start. I've traveled all over the world and dealt with many different cultures. It really isn't difficult to say I had a surgical procedure done and my stomach is now the size of an egg. Please don't be upset if I'm only able to eat a very small portion of food. People are capable of understanding and if anything they'll be curious and have many questions. It's not this big deal that you're making it out to be. You keep saying you want a dialogue etc but instead it seems as if you're looking for rationalizations for your future bad decision. Maybe, getting banded wasn't a big deal for you or maybe the reality of your new lifestyle hasn't set in. Getting an unfill is a BAD, BAD DECISION.

I don't know why anyone is trying to convince you not to get an unfill when you seem hell bent on doing it. I say get the unfill, eat all you want and end up possibly sabotaging all the good work you've put in because really no one will understand that you've made a life changing decision and are trying to maintain your new lifestyle.

I started taking the zantac and my pain has decreased significantly. I think I was having major issues with gas. Today was actually tolerable. I just need to work on getting my energy up. How are you doing? Glad you were able to figure out the ticker.

It never occured to me that the pain could be from the hernia repair. I took a zantac a few hours ago and it's helping with the burning sensation. I've never had heaartburn so it didn't occur to me that I had heartburn. I'm feeling a little bit better and hope things get moving soon (gas). I'm glad your appointment went well. How long will you be on full liquids? I think I start mushies not this saturday but the following saturday. I'm going to my first post-op support group on monday. I totally forgot!
