  1. Hi bunnies, finally checking in! I have been reading about all the bunnies that were banded recently - WHORAY!!!! I was banded on 4-14 and life is wonderful for me! When waking I did have sharp pain in my left shoulder from gas and a little in my chest. When I left the hospital the same day I used a heating pad on it for a couple days and things are well again. I also stopped the pain meds after 2 days as all I would do was sleep. Walk, Walk,Walk is what I have done. By Saturday (day 4) I was feeling Grrrreat! My husband, my mom and I went to the boat they had the buffet and I had soup!LOL we gambled and went home which is a 30min drive one way. Today, I feel even better, Grocery shopping, and walked (2) 30mins each. I have 21 staples, no port pain. I will have them removed 4-22 and begin soft food May 5th. Dr. said no fill for 5 weeks so around May 19th maybe? By the way, today I feel like I am starving. So Protein Shakes and creamy Soup. Can't wait to start pureed on Tuesday!!!! Good Luck to everyone!!! - Val

  4. well, i had a set back of cancer last year when i first started and had CBCA insurance. i started a 6 mo dr diet last sept and finished in feb. Which in Jan our insurance switched to the United Health Care. So my lap band people sent in 4yrs of documented morbid obesity along with my 6mo diet on March 9th. i did call UNC back in Jan and asked if it was a covered benifit and they said it was for morbid obesity. I think you should call and talk to them and ask what are their guidlines and if your dr is in their (in) network. Also ask for a number to speak with a care coordinator. Good luck to you. Keep me posted on what you find out.

  5. :tt2: YIPPEE!!! I just talked to my insurance United Health Care and I was approved on Monday the 16th. As soon as the dr. receives the letter I can meet with him to set up a surgery date and start my 2 week diet! I am sooooo excited!!!:) Hope to be and April bandster!!! I just love reading everyones post! I have retained lots of info on many experiences good and bad. I am ready to experience them too. Thanks guys! - Val

  6. I started this journey a year ago Feb. Had the start of my first 6mo dr diet in Mar 08 and in April I found out I had adneo gland cervical cancer. That halted my lap band journey. My name is Valerie or Val. I am 32, live in Creston, Iowa and I have 3 boys from a previous marriage. My husband and I would like to have a child together, which we have tried several times. So with the cancer I chose a nonstanderd operation...Trachelectomy which was preformed in the best place - mayo Clinic in Rodchester,Mn! That journey lasted from April to my cancer FREE date June 17,2008. Starting Sept. 08 I was able to start my lap band again. In Jan. they switched our insurance from CBCA to United Health Care as of 3-9-09 all documents have been submitted to them:w00t: waiting approval. I am at my highest weight ever 280. I have been lurking here for some time and have see some amazing stories with wonderful weightloss and great self esteem. I hope to be joining this great bunch of you. - Val
