  1. StrangeDZ are you back on track? I did so bad a few days ago with nachos and Peanut Butter swirl chips that I ate whatever I wanted for a day. Yesterday I started the pouch test that Missy suggested. One full day on liquids. Come on lets all lose this weight together.

Missy how are you doing on liquids? Thanks for you pouch test idea.

Bounser How is the gym? You are going to be the tonest one of us. Go girl.

evil- how are you doing? Have you many an appt with the dr to get rid of your fears and see whats going on? I made a deal with myself that if I didn't lose each week I would go see a different dr. I think it's helping.

One thing I thought of for all of us, is why did we do this in the first place? I was thinking about that and it helped motivate me some. I just couldn't wait for my surgery to start down this road. So maybe we can all list reasons why we did it. My first reason was being afraid of becoming diabetic.

Hope to hear from you all soon.

    Thanks 2 Lose Fluff

I've been doing good at the gym I went 4 days this week miss 1 day cause I wasn't feeling well due to a cold.

My reason for getting the lap-band was to get healthy. I wanted to get off my meds I was taking, 13 pills a day. Now I only take 4.

  3. Hi I have been trying for the past 3 months to get with the program. I was banded Dec. 11 2009, my highest weight was 300 lbs I was down to 232 about three months ago. Last time I went to my gp I gained 7lbs. Everyday I say this is I am going to do it and the the afternoon comes around and I eat things I should not be eating. I joined a gym three months ago and haven't been there yet. When I went the doctor my colestoral was up and my sugar levels Each day I start out good and before long I am a failure. I don't want to go back on meds for sugar and colestoral. I have read alot of your stories and I am grateful I am not alone. I will keep trying.

  4. I'm eating 60 or more grams of Protein a day, but my doctor said 90. My hair is falling out, it is so hard to eat three of those shakes!

What kind of shakes are u drinking? I buy Matrix vanilla Mix at the Vitamin shop and I add whatever I feel like with a cup of almond milk. Like a teaspoon of sf chocolate puddings or sf pistachio or sf cheesecake pudding. I sometimes add sugar free frozen fruit and blend it in or a quarter of banana. Sometimes I add a spoon of Decaf instant coffee. I enjoy my shakes. Sometimes I have a shake before I eat and I don't eat as much.

  5. New joy - you look awesome!!

Yep, I am tighter in the mornings. I thought it was pretty common. I have a friend here in town that was banded by the same surgeon and she is really tight in the mornings also.

Happy Mothers Day all you moms out there.

I forgot to update that we found out we are having twins. I was beyond shocked! We are going to have 4 kids under 5. EEK

 Congrats to you and your family Tracy!!!

Happy Mothers Day to All you Mommies!!!!

  6. anyone tighter in the mornings?

I emailed my surgeon this question but his nurse called back and said he was leave and she told me to stick with mushies in the morning some people have this problem

After I've been up and about for about 4 hours things are fine but I can't wait 4 hours to eat!

    Let me know delights-

    t

Yes, the same is for me. I have a shake in the morning also. It seems about 10:30 I get hungry, I wake up at 6, and then after I eat, I need to eat every 2 hours till I eat dinner. After dinner I feel full till the next day. I really don't like feeling hungry during the day I want to get a fill. The doctor would not give me a fill last month. Next thurs. I go for my next appointment.

  7. That is so wonderful to hear!!!!! Congratulations! How are you feeling with the 7ccs? Do you feel more restriction? I have a 14cc band too, and I have 6.5ccs. I am feeling more restriction. I am eating lunch right now, lentil Soup, I have had 4 bites and I am almost full. Keep up the good work!:frown:

Thank You Lisa. 6.5 is what I had last month I felt restriction in the beginning and then went back to only some. This fill I got yesterday, and they used the xray machine for the first time. Doc said he thinks I should be good. I am on liquids, but I am not even hungry.

  8. 3/11/10 My 3 month bandiversary had a fill. Now I am at 7cc/14ccband I have lost a total of 58 lbs since last Feb. 09, 2009.(10#before surgery) I have been off my diabetes, cholestrol, and reflux meds since the surgery. I went to my primary doctor tues and had blood work done. My blood pressure was great. The doctor office called yesterday and I was like something is wrong, they only call when something is wrong. They told me everything was great. I was in the normal range with everything. I am feeling great. This is the best I have felt in a long time. I LOVE MY BAND!!!!!

  9. Hi Band of Buddies,

You are all doing marvelously with your weight loss, I am proud of you all. I am stuck with a little loss, even though I am working my big Buns off on the treadmill! I have my second fill tomorrow, so hope for some restriction then. It has been a month since my first fill and my doc said to make an appointment if I needed a fill before the month was up - I should have taken him up on it.

I have just found a new Soup, which has only 80 cals per cup. It is 'Spicy Black Bean' made by Pacific and comes in a 1 qt carton. I found the soup at Kroger's and HEB. This is a smooth soup, so is good for those days after a fill. I add a little chopped Tomato, onion, cilantro, jalapeno and a t.spoon of shredded cheese. For a more hearty soup I have also added 1/4 cup of chicken (60 cals) and/or 1/4 cup chili Beans. (60 cals).

The company also makes other flavored Soups - tonight I am going to try their 'Creamy Butternut Squash' (90 cals), I'll add some smoked turkey for more Protein.

Just wanted to share this with y'all

    :)

Thanks for sharing It sounds great.

  10. Well Tuesday I had my forth fill that's including the 3cc in my band the day of surgery. I didn't expect to get a fill. My appointment was to check my incision that the doctor fixed in my belly button last week. He add 1cc. I now have a total fill of 6.5cc..in a 14cc band. I know now why we need to eat slow and small. (sipping too) I feel like after my 3rd bite it still up in my throat (weird feeling). When I eat slower it really makes a difference. It's been 3 days now and I still feel fuller and still need to eat slower. I believe I am getting close to my sweet spot.

  11. I was scheduled for December 22, 2009 and I chickened out. I am rescheduled for next Tuesday, February 16, 2010. I want to know how much all you December Bandsters have lost???

Since my surgery I have lost 38 pounds I lost 10 on my six month diet So my total weight lose is 48lbs.

Everybody is different. Each doctor has different diets. Good luck to you.

  12. I had my 2nd fill yesterday It wasn't as bad as my first. Now I am at 5.5 ccs in a 14cc band. :rolleyes2: I had to have my incision reopened in my belly button.(because it did not healing right) I was not a happy camper. The doctor numb it with about 10 shots of novakain which hurt worse then the fill.

  13. Complex carbs come from foods like whole grain bread, Pasta, rice, yams. Simple carbs are things like corn Syrup, fruitose and glucose. These sugars are easily absorbed by the body and turn to fat quickly. Complex carbs, although they also have sugars take longer to digest and will fuel the body. I read that people on a w/l program need 100 grams of complex cabs a day.

Sorry to disagree with what you just said but pasta and rice are not complex carbs or bread. Complex carbs are carbs you get from healthy foods like fruits and vegetables. Simple carbs come from foods that have to be processed.

  14. .

So, today I tried eating a piece of chicken again and each piece got stuck. So it's taking me an hour to eat a piece of chicken, but I never seem to get full. Maybe because it takes me so long to eat it or maybe because there is no restriction.

So my question is there really seems to be no restriction but everything is getting stuck. I feel like I need another fill so I can have restriction but with another fill Im not sure I could eat any real Protein. If I take the time it takes me to eat say a piece of chicken the first bite would be 1/2 digested by the time I got to the last. So I would never be full for 3-4 hours.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be great!

I haven't had a problem with chicken, yet, but I read that some people do. Was it the breast? Some people only can eat the thigh, because it is moister. Try dipping your chicken into something while eatting it. I dip my chicken into Sabra's garlic roasted hummus, and it is sooooo good. If you don't like hummus there are other things you can make. Bariatriceating.com has alot of great recipes and tricks for eatting. I find it to be a very helpful site.:)

  15. Does anyone know why we can't have milk? Even if it is skim? I like doing half milk half Water with the Protein powder to get some calcium... Thoughts?

    -Moe

    banded 12/11/09

    highest 233

    now 214

If I drink whole milk I get the poops, since the surgery. I have been drinking skim milk and that stays with me fine. I think I read some where, that some people who have baratric surgery, can cause you to become lactose intolerable.

  16. I was banded on the 14th and am currently on "mushies". I haven't lost any weight in the last two weeks and I am having a hard time in bandster hell.

    1. I am not getting in enough fluids. I am trying but still find it hard to sip all day long

    2. The only time I want to drink is when I eat, which is against the rules

    3. I feel like I could (and would like to) eat everything I see

Has anyone else felt the need to sip while they eat? I understand that if you drink while you eat then you push the food through the stoma faster and that you become hungry like you didnt have anything. So I am sure that my challenges are all connected. Any one else going through this same thing?

    I have the same problem
