No anethestic, It was soooooo painful. He has this spray he sprays but she forgot to spray it after the first poke and that would have helped. Do you think it's normal for me to be so sore 24 hours later. I guess it's all the pokes. Steph, I'm so sorry to hear about your dad but I'm proud it's treatable and tell him to never give up hope. My Mom was diagnosed 2 yrs. ago stage 4 non-hodkins lymphoma and was not suppose to make it and here she is cancer free right now. She has a lot of breathing problems but it is from the aggressive chemo she had. It was new but really good, it's called, ritucksin *sp*. I will keep him in my thoughts and prayers and you too. Keep your chin up. Congrats on your upcoming knee surgery. I know you were sure hoping to be able to get them done. I hope for you a unadventful, successful surgery.

Another "Old Timer" With Issues
Carlene, Wonderful news that your band is okay. So sorry to hear about your esophagus. Just try to keep your mind off of it and stay busy and I'm sure that time will fly by. Your almost there and I hope you get a great report back. You will probably shed some more pounds on the mushies too. Good luck.

July 2006 Band Crew
Hey guys, Well to get to 3 and 400 calories a day all I did was drink Water, unsweetned tea, and one slimfast and would try to eat 1/2 cup vegetables per day. I went yesterday for my slight unfill. You guys aren't going to believe this. They checked my fitday and sure enough I was averaging 348 calories a day for almost 2 weeks. This had to be the one of the worst days of my life. I got there and Dr. Curry was busy so Lisa, his pa, who has done fills for a year and is very good decided to do my unfill. She poked the first time and it was like usual, not too bad, then the second, getting worse and finally after the forth I was in tears, and broke out in a sweat and starting trying to pass out. She went and got Dr. Curry and he didn't hit it the first time but said he would try one more time and if he didn't hit it we would go over to the hospital and do fluro, Thank God, he hit it the second time, he is such a fabulous Doctor. I just absolutely love him. It wasn't their fault, my port is the mini, lowprofile and since I've lost the almost 70 pounds and 50 inches it's just hard to get too. Well, to make a long story short. I walked out to my car and cried from the pain for about 30 min. and when I caught my breath I drove straight to the hotel and went to bed. I got up later and guess what, I could eat, mushies, but I ate about 1/2 cup. Got up this morning and they told me to stick with mushies and I ate 1/4 scrambled egg with gravy on it and had already drank some orange juice when I woke up. lunch, I went to cracker barrel and ate applesauce, mashed potatoes and some corn. Went down fine but after 1/2 cup I was stuffed. Make the long drive home and I know it's too soon to tell but after 5 weeks of weighing 222, I had gained those 4, anyway, I weighed 220 at home. That's the first loss in 5 weeks. What have I learned, that it is possible after living on 3 and 400 calories to not loose, how I don't know but I'm living proof and now that I'm probably up to 1000 calories after I eat supper am losing again. BTW, I had 3cc's in my 4cc's band and Dr. Curry took out .3 so now I'm at 2.7cc's and it feels so much better. Would you believe I am still so sore today that I can't bend over very well and am just bad sore. I guess that stomach muscle hurts. Just wanted to let everyone know. Have a great week everyone.

4cc band....I want to know....what is full?
My doctor said he can put about double in it if need be but I've just returned home from a slight unfill and don't think mine will ever even need the 4cc's mine holds, lol. I had 3cc's in the 4cc's, 9.75cm, inamed, lowprofile mini and was so tight I couldn't eat and they took out .3. Now I have 2.7 and omg, it is so good now.

How Will I Know....
I had my surgery in Mexico and right after surgery when we got back to Dr. Sanchez's guesthouse he brought me the box it came in with the serial number and a credit card looking card that had inamed and that it was a 9.75cm, lowprofile, mini port. It had all of the info on it and then he brought paperwork explaining the same thing to me.

July 2006 Band Crew
I've thought and went back and forth and back and forth on what to do. I mean I've not lost a pound in a couple of months and I track every single morsel I eat on fitday and it has been ranging this week from 300 to 400 calories a day and no weightloss. I know people probably don't believe me but it's the truth. I emailed Dr. Curry and he said I definitely need a slight unfill. I feel so stupid. This will be my second unfill. I just can't seem to get it right. But, really, I couldn't even get ice cream down until 5pm this afternoon. I eat 1/2 cup and that is all I had all day until now and it's 11pm and I eat 1/4 cup of tuna fish and it went down okay. Maybe it is not enough calories to loose weight, I have no clue. Wish me luck. I miss your emails too. When you get time email me sometime. I'll do the same. I know your busy but I love hearing from you. Hope you all have a great week and pray I have a safe journey. Last trip I almost got in a wreck on the interstate. I was doing about 78 behind a diesel and he slammed on his brakes for some reason and I was going to rearend him and slammed on my brakes and they are the anti whatevers but I still started sliding and almost hit a bridge concrete thing. Will let you all know how the unfill goes. I am going to feel like such a idiot getting it but I know I need it. Love you all,

I'm soooooo tight
Oh, I didn't want to be like this, it just happened. Thanks for all of your wonderful advice. I'm going to make the 10 hour drive tomorrow for a slight unfill. It hasn't loosened up any. Thanks again everyone.
-
Your mileage may vary - newbie alert!
You hit the nail on the head. I'm learning the hard way. I'm driving 10 hours round trip tomorrow for a slight unfill and I'm not happy about it, lol. Thanks I think everyone needs to seriously realize that results are not typical thing.

not feeling restriction
I'm up to 3 cc's and I have the 9.75cm inamed band as well that hold's 4cc's. It took me 6 fills to get here and now I'm too tight and am going for a slight unfill tomorrow. My fills never take full effect for a couple of weeks so maybe it's just taking a little time. Don't get too tight, it's miserable and I'm not losing an ounce. I've not eaten over 500 calories a day in 2 weeks and can't even eat ice cream. Good luck.
-
Adjusted?
I could get one every 2 weeks as needed BUT, every single fill I've ever had has taken anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks to fully become effective. Let me give you an example. I've had 6 fills to get to 3 cc's in my 4cc's band. My last fill was 5 weeks ago. Up until 1 1/2 weeks ago I could eat solid proteins up to about 1/2 cup, perfect right? Well, now, 5 weeks after my fill it's fully kicked in and I'm having to go tomorrow for a slight unfill. So, it may take yours 2 weeks as well. I would give it a little bit of time and let your esophagus and stoma and everything get use to it and if in a couple of weeks you still need some I would get a little more. This is imho only though. Good luck.

singing the second fill blues
I feel you on the drive. I am going for a slight unfill tomorrow and it's 5 hours each way. That's so weird the differences in everyone's bands and fills. I had mine done in Mexico too but Dr. Curry does my fills. It took me 6 fills to get to 3 cc's in my 4cc's band and now I've having to go get a slight unfill because I can't even eat icecream. I mean I can't eat any food. I'm having him take me down to at least 2.5cc's. My fills never, ever kick in for at least 2 weeks and this fill here is 5 weeks old and I could eat 1/4 to 1/2 cup up until 1 1/2 weeks ago so mine didn't kick in this time for over 3 weeks. Maybe if you give it a week or two I bet you it will kick in. Good luck.

Have you ever had a unfill
Thanks Jack, I always enjoy reading your posts. I guess I am not dreading it as much as feeling stupid about not knowing that I shouldn't have got the last fill. It just makes me fill totally stupid.
-
Have you ever had a unfill
I was just curious about having a unfill as I am going for one tomorrow and feel bad about it.

How do you know when it is tight enough
Wasabubblebut, Thank you sooooo much for posting that. Your my hero. I needed that in the worst way. Going for a slight unfill tomorrow. I can't even eat ice cream.

Please advise-How do you know if you stretch you pouch?
Jachut, I admire you and you are a very smart bandster. You told me a while back I was probably too tight and you were soooo right. I mean I checked fitday.com for the past 5 days and the most calories I had was 379 over 5 days, that was the most. I emailed Dr. Curry and he emailed me back that that is why I haven't lost a pound in 2 months. Now, I can't imagine why at that low of calories and exercising why I wasn't losing but I agree with what you told me that it wasn't healthy so I'm making that dreaded 10 hour round trip drive tomorrow for a slight unfill. I have 3cc's now in my 4 cc's band and he ask me how much I thought I wanted out and I said at least .5 cc's what do you think? I appreciate your help and your always soooo helpful to all of us.

Yeah, that's right...
I'm sooooo sooooo proud you started this thread. I got my azz jumped a couple of times just because I exercised my right of free speech to support a President I voted for both times and would most definitely vote a third if he could run but got enough and have never ever been back there. I can't believe how some people think they, whom have never been President can lean back in their chair and say what he's done that's wrong and what they would have done. I was taught to respect our President as a child. I really hate to see where we'll be in 10 years but I'm afraid it won't be good. I hope that thread is still around after a couple of terms with a President with no balls then lets see where we are.

Lap band size question..
Oh sorry, In my Inamed's handbook given to me by Dr. Sanchez it says, 9.75cm that holds 4cc's and 10cm that holds 10cc's. I had already posted earlier that they sometimes CAN hold up to double but is not recommended. Sorry

Anyone From Ky!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi guys, Paducah, Kentucky here. I will be going through Louisville on Monday on my way to my doctor, Dr. Trace Curry in Cicni. I've got to go for a slight unfill. So nice to meet other Kentuckians, keep in touch.

Admitting you need a slight unfill
Thanks both of you for the advice. I just feel like after 9 months I should know when I need a fill and when I don't but I guess it's just a learning experience. I agree about the junk food. I don't eat hardly any but I grant you a potatoe chip goes down so smooth and you let me eat meat and I'm going to get stuck and is just that simple. Well I am going to go for it and get a slight unfill, I have nothing too loose but a little money but that doesn't matter at this point. Thanks for your help.

did they forget to put the band in?
My surgeon said no on Peanut Butter till week 3. If your surgeon told you liquids for at least one week then you really probably ought to do that. I know it's hard, it was for me too but you don't want to damage your esophagus, band or tubing. Your still healing and still swelled. If your surgeon says it is okay then I wouldn't worry. Congrats on being banded and welcome to bandland. Hope everything is going well for you.

Intro and question...Rules
Do you mean lapbanding rules or rules for this forum? Congrats on your decision, you will love your band.

Lap band size question..
I have the 9.75cm, mini, lowprofile port. I had a BMI of 39 so that's why he used it. I've never heard of one holding 20cc, it must be new. I know there is a bigger band that is 10cm and holds 10cc's where mine only holds 4cc's. Congrats on your surgery.
