Hi! I'm currently living in the Richmond area. I may be going to Louisville for a support group at Norton Hospital once I have surgery (if I can't find one closer), so maybe we'll see each other then.

Hi guys,

Paducah, Kentucky here. I will be going through Louisville on Monday on my way to my doctor, Dr. Trace Curry in Cicni. I've got to go for a slight unfill. So nice to meet other Kentuckians, keep in touch.

Hi I am from Louisville Ky. I am working with Dr. Lusco from St. Mary and Elizabeth's bariatric group. So far I have been to a seminar and I am going to my first consultation on May 15. I still have to start my medically supervided diet, next month. My ins co requires it. I think you will do great just don't let obstacles keep you from moving forward. ;)

Hey Melissa,

I am in Louisville and I had my surgery through Louisville Bariatric associates at St. Mary's and Eliabeth Hospital on Feb 14. The whole process is nerve wracking sometimes waiting for insurance. I have Humana and had to do the 6 month monitoring, but got through the process. I had Dr. Schuster, but the team all work together on everyone's operation. The day I had surgery, there were 6 or 8 of us getting a lapband. The hospital is really great about having the whole process go smoothly. I was out of the hospital by noon, having my surgery at 7:30am.

Let me know if you are using the same group, and I'll tell you more.

Kelly

Hi, What Seminar Did U Attend? I Attended On April 24. I Sent My Paper Work Back The Next Day And I Still Have Not Been Contacted.

  • 5 weeks later...

Hi there from Campbellsville, KY. Hopefully your insurance co will tell you everything you need. I did not have to do the pre-op diet as my health records showed that I had continously been trying to lose weight via, pills, slim fast, med-fast, Jenny C., weight watcher, Healthy heart diet, Atkins, South Beach, Mayo diet, etc.(I always told my dr. what I was trying so it would be charted). I had documented back pain, arthritis, reflux, high BP, hx of blood clots, and hypo-hyperglycemia. So instead I just had to have the x-rays, bloodwork, stress test, sleep apnea test, ultrasound and H-pylori test done. I had to have a letter of referral from my family physician but, I also submitted one from my neuro dr that I saw for my back problems.

Hope all this info helps...

Hey Kentuckians,

I am from Eastern Ky, (Prestonsburg). I am going to Ashland to Dr. Thompkins @Kings Daughters Thursday for my first appt.

I would love to hear some of your experiences after surgery. I have attended two seminars and the doctors tell you all the pros and cons but I have yet to talk with anyone that has done the Lanpband, Everyone I know has done the by-pass. That is not for me. I am a little scared of the surgery but more concerned about not getting to eat and grieving for the foods I can't have.

I am at my all time high weight of 290 and my BMI is 58. I have a host of weight related medical problems and I have tried EVERYTHING except surgery.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
