  1. I guess my body was trying to reject the band. She said that normally there is swelling and inflammation, but mine was excessive. Internally, my stomache had sealed the hole of the lapband. She said there is nothing I could have done to prevent it. It was just by body's reaction. They gave me steriods and anti-inflammatories via IV. I feel better now, just exhausted. However, I'm very nervous. Going back to bed - talk to you tomorrow.
  2. Hi, just checking in. Surgery was done outpatient and I went home able to swallow clear liquids. However, by late that night I was unable to even swallow my spit. Doctor re-admitted me to the hospital and I was released this afternoon. I guess I was a lucky one with complications. :scared2: I have to do clear liquids for the next couple days ~ at least I can swallow now, that scared the crap out of me! I'll be in touch soon. -Malissa
  3. Kerrik- I had 2 Protein powder shakes mixed with Water and 1 meal of white fish or chicken with a green vegetable. It was very difficult - but just stay determined.
  4. I am so excited!! I don't know how I will ever fall asleep tonight! I completed the entire 2 weeks of pre-op without even cheating once. During that time I've went to a baby shower and made complete dinners for my family every night. ....I am in the ZONE! Hope everyone else is doing well and I wish everyone the best.
  5. I don't think they will waive it - but it really does go by faster than you think. Just start now and keep going faithfully every month. Good Luck!
  6. My band date is 03/11 and for the 2 weeks - I haven't cheated once. My weigh in at week 1 was down 15lbs. I haven't got on the scale since, but I hope I'm down some more.... Just waiting for Wednesday and then Post-Op diet here I come!!!
  7. I too gained on the 6mo diet. However, Humana still approved me...
  8. I'm not going to get my "time" until the day before. But we are almost at the finish line now! LOL -Malissa
  9. Lora - Hey my Florida Neighbor! Yes!!! We only have 1 week to go! I'm so excited. I have followed my doctors instructions exactly. I'm also nervous about the liver thing.... Best of luck to us both! :cursing: -Malissa
  10. Hi Maestrita! I'm so excited about next week. I can't wait. I have stuck faithfully to my pre-op diet and I'm down 15lbs! My surgury is in St.Petersburg, FL. Good Luck to you!!
  11. Keep your fingers crossed... I also gained on my 6mo diet - but Humana approved me with no problem. I'm currently on the pre-op diet with a surgery date of 03/11. Good Luck!!
  12. Julie- I can only wish that I do as well as you! We are very similar- My BMI is 58.1 and I've been fat forever too. I weighed 75lbs when I was only 5! Today is my first day on the 2wk pre-op diet. Surgery date is 3/11. I sure do hope I'm sitting in your position 6 mo. from now.... Take Care, Malissa
  13. Thanks everybody for your responses. I have researched getting banded the entire 6mo of my supervised diet. I think I'm just getting nervous as the date gets closer. But I really do wonder...is it forever? I guess you guys are right, it is too soon to know. I feel very comfortable with the doctor I selected. Her name is Dr. Tiffany Jessee in Largo, Fl. My only complaint about her is the $1,000 fee she charges (not covered by insurance). This covers my 2 weeks of liquid diet protein shakes, vitamins, and admin fees. I looked into other doctors, but I feel most comfortable with her - so I'm willing to pay it. She does both the realize and lap-band. Does anyone know which is better?
  14. Hi- I've been reading the boards - as I'm scheduled for surgery on March 11 and I'm getting kind of nervous. I have just sat for over an hour reading the complications that some are having. Do complications happen more often than not? Also, has anyone had their band (without complications) for a very long time? I assumed that I would just keep it forever. Does it eventually have to come out? Thanks, Malissa
  15. I'm in Tampa Bay area - My band date is March 11
  16. I will be having mine done in St. Petersburg. Best of luck to you! Hopefully we will both be successful!
  17. Hi All! I just discovered this board and wanted to say hello. I am scheduled for the procedure in March.
