  1. per my insurance co.i too have to be in 6 months of nutrition classes. i weigh 260,my height is

5 feet tall.i want to have the lap band done, however i was told that i would only lose 50-60 pds and that i should consider gastric bypass because i will not get to my desire weight (120-130) with the band.my co-worker's daughter had the band done last year..she has lost119 pds(weighed over 200pd). when i do finally get to speak with the dr.if tells me i can't have the band than i will not purse gastric bypass. fyi this will be my 2nd dr that i would have seen for wls the first dr.kept telling me no to the band, yes to gastric bypass, yes to gastric sleeve and i was saying on the way out the door" forget you" i will go some where else and that's what did.

in the end it should be the patient's choice to decide what type of surgery he/she wants.

    good luck!!!

  2. last night she was on dateline talking to anne curry.they did an updated interview with her yesterday and she admitted that she gets food stamp after she denied she was not getting help from welfare.she claims that is all she getting.

i live in ny and i know for a fact that if you have no income or not working you get medicaid, food stamps and maybe some cash. i heard it on the news this am that her dad said she gave a false name for the babies father.

does she know what the truth is???

  3. wow!!! thanks for sharing that information.i had heard arnot let moon go because of those things.i plan to see dr.rahman a new guy from wisconsin.a friend of mine called his last employer to get the run down on him and they spoke very highly of him.

one of my friends had o'malley do her lap band before thanksgiving last year and she loved him.i wanted to go to him but my husband said no to far to drive and if i do go ahead and get the surgery done i need to be close so he can get to me in case something happens.

hats off to your neice for all the weight she has lost.:crying:

  4. hi,

i just read your post and wanted to say don't be scared of getting a lap band.for the past few years i was scared about having it done too and never kept my 1st consult visits.well, one of my dear friends had the surgery done last year and is doing great. she has really encouraged me to get the band done. next friday i will have my first consult with a dr,my pcp has already sent my paper work to his office and i am going ahead with everything they tell me do.researching the band and reading testimonies have been great but in the end you will need to have a made up mind if you want to do this.

    good luck!!
