  1. I will admit, I was nervous for my first fill after reading bad fill stories. However, I was pleasently surprised to find it to be quick & easy! First my doctor just numbed the area with a small needle then injected 4.8 cc's of saline into my 10 cc band, while he had me drink a glass of Water. The whole process was quick and easy..the worst part is being on liquids for 48 hours! I will be on mushies tomorrow, which is nice...just in time for my 23rd birthday! :w00t: Just thought I would share a happy fill story!
  2. I have the AP Lapband...I was banded on the 27th of March.

    Surgery - weight gain?

Well, when you have surgery they pump you FULL of liquids all day long and with the fluid retention & swelling, you are bound to weigh more. I weighed about 4 pounds more for a couple of days and then that plus 3 pounds came off. You will loose it.

    Anyone have United Healthcare???

I have it and it took me 3 days! Good luck! :rolleyes2:
  6. Hey there, I am great! How are you feeling & how is your weightloss going? Have you had your first fill yet? I have mine Monday..so far I am down 24 pounds..averaging about 2 pounds a week..kind of slow, but glad it is coming off. :)

  7. Christy, I am in a simmilar time frame as you, as I was banded on March 27th. I too went on my first long weekend trip this past weekend with my husband to the mountains. I planned ahead and bought my food like yogurt, cottage cheese, and turkey lunch meat then packed that into a cooler. That way I had my Breakfast and lunch food with me at the hotel, which meant I had no need to go get stuff from a bad source. We did go out to eat for dinner, my first time since surgery, and I made a meat and veggie choice. Like you said, it is your new lifestyle and more than likely you won't even feel temptation, because this new lifestyle has become habit. My best advice is equip yourself with healthy Snacks and try to make good choices. Don't expect to loose over that weekend, but you should be able to maintain at the same weight. I also made a point not to take my scale with me, b/c I didn't want to obsess over not loosing. You can do it!!! Good luck and most importantly have fun!!

    Banded Tuesday the 14th

Congrats to you both! It is good to hear you are doing well now! Good luck on your journey! :sneaky:
  9. Your liver is incredibly resilient (sp) and can repair itself very quickly. So, if you are worried about what damage you have done in the past, I wouldn't. That is what the preop diet is for, to shrink your fatty liver. If you stick to the preop diet, you have no reason to worry. Good luck & it is worth it!!!
  10. Do any of you ever wake up in a scare that you have just consumed food that you shouldn't have? I am having them on a weekly basis! The most recent one was of comsuming an entired Dr. Pepper and I wok up and freaked out!! It is hilarious to think that food is my new nightmare!

    plateau...already..is that even possible?

I have experienced simmilar situations twice now too. My surgery was March 27th and I will loose 1 or 2 lbs and stop for a good 5 days or so then it will start again. I have only lost 7lbs since surgery, but the bright side is we are loosing! You are doing great, it is normal to experience things like this when you are introducing new things in your diet.

16 days post op and 30 lbs lost

WOW 16 days postop, your scars look great! I can barely see them!!
  13. Not to be neggative, but you really need to buckle down and become commited to the preop diet. It is for your own safety, as you really don't want to go through all this for your doctor to open you up and not be able to do the surgery. You can do this, but you have to become determined. You only have a few days left before your BIG day, you really need to stick with it through this short period of time.
  14. Hey there Debbie, I have to ask you...how have you been so sucessful with out a fill? I am 2 1/2 weeks postop and am finding myself already hitting platues! I will be stuck at a number for at least 5-6 days at a time! Do you exercise regularly and what do you eat in any given day? Any advice would be greatly appriciated!

  15. G for it! Those sound great!

  16. I was banded on te 27th with pretty much no gas pain at all, but directly after surgery, I started to feel a stonge pain under my left side of my rib cage. I can't figure out if it is gas pain or not, because I don't feel it unless I take a deep breath or cough. It almost feels like it is brused. It seems like where my liver is, could it be that is was brused during surgery? Has anyone else felt this type of soreness in this spot after surgery?
  17. Other than hitting a platu every other week or so, no struggles yet. My preop diet consisted of 2 EAS low carb protien drinks a day and one 250 calorie or less/ 15 carb or less "Smart One" frozen meal a day. A LOT of water and a some sugar free jello here and there- pretty simple. I know the first week was tough, B/C I hate sleeping on my back! I am very happy to be back on the tummy!

  18. I had minimal gas, but what I did have was stuborn gas! For about a week it was stuck under my left rib. I am 2 weeks postop now and feel back to normal. A few of my incissions are still a little sore, but the gas has since left.
  19. Hey there 303! Yes, I was banded on the 27th and feel great! I am completly back to normal and even sleeping on my tummy now! I am down about 6 pounds since surgery, so am averaging about 3 pounds a week. To answer your question regarding what I did after I got my date set, I started my preop diet a week earlier than I was supposed to. I wanted to really get a good start on things. If you have any questions, feel free to ask! Good luck on you journey!

    Food Obsession

Oh gosh I was the same way and still struggle with it! I will see a billboard or commercial witha a huge burger on it and all the sudden my mouth will start watering! It doesn't even have to be something I really like, if it is something bad for you, I want it! Luckily, I have not given into that temptation and everyday gets easier. Since I have been banded, it has gotten a lot better, but before in the preop stage, I would dream about food! I never even knew how obsessed I really was until I started my journey! It is truely eye opening!
  21. Ha Ha, Oh yea! I have 6 mini butt cracks! It is a beautiful sight!
  22. Oh that is awful, I am so sorry. I know they are like children and it is really hard, just allow yourself to go through the grieving process. It will be fine and you can do this! My prayers are with you. If you ever need support, please know we are here to support you.
  23. YAY! You are an inspiration to us all! Congrats on your success!!! Happy Bandiversery!

3 weeks post op and so depressed

10 LBS in 3 weeks is deff. not something to laugh at! You have done great! That is a little more than 3 pounds a week and that is great! The point is you are loosing and that is what matters. It isn't happening over night, but it is happening! Keep your chin up, as you are doing great!
