When will I be happy with my body?

I can really relate with you on this one. People, like my husband, just can't understand why I am still unhappy with the way I look in the mirror. Sure, it is fun to shop for new smaller size clothes (now a 10, before a 18)- but to be honest, the second I take my clothes off to get in the shower & I see my self in the mirror, all is see is fat! I am 144lbs and you would think by loosing 75lbs, I would be ecstatic. However, I really was happier fat- as bad as that sounds. I never thought I looked fat when I was fat- it was everyone else who thought I was overweight. Now... everyone thinks I look great & I feel like crap! I know this sounds so ungreatful and maybe it is, but I can't relate to myself anymore. I look in the mirror and pick every little thing appart. Now, don't get me wrong, there are days when I feel on top of the world (normally weightloss days) and the second I gain even a half a pound I feel like crap again! So, I'm going to tell you as an outsider looking in...you look AMAZING and you have done a phenominal job, but I do relate to you and understand where you are coming from. We can only hope with time, we can relate better to ourselves and start to accept our "new" flaws. Great job & congrats on your success.
  2. Thank you so much for that sweet comment, b/c I actually feel very flabby & not tonned at all. It is good to hear maybe someone else thinks differently. Comments like those keep me going! :) Congrats on your success!!

  3. Thank you for that sweet comment. It is a lot of hard work and little comments like yours keep me going. :) Good luck & Congrats on your progress.

    No Ride Home

You will not be able to drive home the same day- you will be lucky if you can see strait. You are going to be WAY too sleepy for one! PLUS all the pain meds they put you on, honestly you can't drive for SEVERAL days. The hospital may not even let you go if there isn't anyone to be with you. If you can't arrange to be picked up, I would reschedule. It isn't worth getting into an accident and really hurting yourself or even worse, someone else.
  5. WOW Meagan 100 pounds in 6 months is phenominal! AMAZING is all I can say! Good for you! I too am about 6 1/2 months out and have lost 71 pounds (17 pounds from goal), not as much, but I still look at it as above average. I on the other hand sometimes do cheat, BUT not often. I DO have realistic expectations- IF I cheat, I won't loose. On average I try to eat leass than 900 calories a day, with less than 60 grams of carbs and more than 70 grams of protien. If I cheat, typically it will be on the carb part, not the calorie part. On a daily basis I eat the following: Breakfast: 1 packet of weight control flavored oatmeal & 4 pieces of turkey bacon OR 1 4oz. fat free yogurt. Luch: 1 lean cuisine under 220 calories OR 1 4oz can of tuna & 4 oz. frozen veggies. Snack: low fat string cheese Dinner: 4 oz. lean hamburger patty OR 2 low fat turkey hot dogs Dessert: 1 4oz cup of lowfat Jello or pudding. Excersizing... I do it 5x a week, religously. I run in increments for about 45 minutes. Interval training is GREAT for weightloss and it helps build stamina! However, at this time I do not do strength training, as I am waiting until I get to goal to do that. Congrats on your choice to get banded- you will do wonderful!:cursing:

Does the weight loss increase your sex drive?

I can SO agree with the feeling of discomfort now that I have lost weight. I critisize EVERY part of my body now. I believe it has everything to do with, when I was heavy I consentrated on my makeup & hair (shoulders up). Now that I am thinner, I look at everything and find myself thinking, "geeze, I have big thighs or a loose tummy". I have considered going to a shrink to find my self acceptance again... I just hope it goes away when I get to goal. As for the sex life. Gosh yes it gets better!!! I am 24 and completely lost my drive with my husband the fatter I got. Now that I am smaller than when he met me, I feel like we first met again. It is great & I am sure you will be the same!
  7. I thought the exact thing when I read that!! I mean thats wonderful success on your own- why go through surgery when it is obvious you could accomplish it by yourself? Either way you should be very proud of the weight you lost!
  8. I'm 7 months out and am not far from goal weight. The more I loose, the more I can feel & see it. I can only imagine what it will look like the flatter my tummy gets. It isn't painfull, but my port is right at my bra line- really high up! So, it sometimes rubs by under wire. I just get reminded that it is there, but not enough to be painfull.
  9. I actually have 6 scars from the laprascopy, not sure about the belly button thing. This was the only option my doc gave me. Believe me though, they really didn't hurt.
  10. Oh, no I am not sickat all. I feel better than I ever have. I am SO much energy. I do on ocassion get ill to my tummy if I eat to quickly, but it is something you learn to control.

  11. I was 218 LBS & 5'1 with a BMI of 42, just 6 months ago. Now...BMI of about 29 and I am at 151 LBS. I have lost 67lbs in 6 months and am just 21lbs from goal. I have gone from a size 18 to a 10...in 6 short months! So, yes even though you may have a smaller BMI, you can do it!! If you feel deep down that this time is your time to change, anything is possible. Good luck!

    Hair loss

It happened to me at about 3 months out too. I tried everything from biotin pills to Nioxin shampoo- nothing would work! Trust me, I too was taking in a TON of protien and it still happened! It did stop thouhg about 2 months after it started...once I began eating an all around diet. This includes the dreaded carb every once and a while... I used to NEVER eat carbs, so maybe it has something to do with the lack of everything thing else other than protien- who knows! It will stop though, good luck!

    Eating...

I have to weigh** (no pun intended) in here for a minute... 1500-2000 calories a day is a lot- even for a male. Now everyone is different, but I think anyone will say that to loose weight consistantly- you would be anywhere between 800-1200 calories a day. Typically, I try to not consume more than 700 a day, but some will say that is too little. When it comes to maintaining, maybe that amount will work, but I just can't forsee taking in 2000 calories a day would put you loosing a steady 2lbs a week. Try to consintrate on 70 grams of protien a day and you will probably be way too full to even think of wanting more.
