    Banded Today!

No for #2...I took milk of magnesia each day after surgery and that helped tremendously. I love ensure! The EAS shakes are really good too.

    Banded Today!

I found malox worked better for me than gas-x did. I keep a bottle at home and one at the office. As far as shakes go, I love Ensure - chocolate of course.
  3. If you guys are feeling that restricted, you're way too tight and need fluid taken out of your band. Just a smidge will make a huge difference! Turkey and fish are my protein favs! When my band was too tight, I was get severe heartburn from things like cauliflower or broccoli and would make myself sick as opposed to feeling that pain in my shoulder. A key for me is my nose...when it starts to run...that's my sign to stop eating because my tummy is full to the brim.
  4. I went through the same thing at first, but got over it quickly. My family and friends felt guilty over eating in front of me more than anything. I found myself avoiding any restaurant that didn't serve soup and was always amazed at other bandsters that would order salad and eat chicken. I have gotten sick more times than I can count in the past 4 years, but finally found my sweet spot about 6 months ago. I am no longer hesitant to order real food when out with my friends or family. I go out or even grab my fav Chinese food a couple of times a month now. I live by fish and turkey these days for my protein. I do not eat anything fried - the grease will kill you for sure! Had I not moved 4 hours away from my surgeon, I'm confident I would have been a "normal" bandster within that first year. That's definitely the key! I'm only at 2.7, but that amount works for me. I still have my moments, like now, that I lean towards soft foods or liquids only. Everyday is an adventure!

Congrats to you too! I'm 4 years out and won't ever forget how excited I was! You're both going to feel better than you have in a long time!

Moved To Area And Need Doctor For Fills

I meant to add that he knows the problems that I've had finding a Dr to touch me in Tallahassee. I think he would be more understanding re your relocation.

Moved To Area And Need Doctor For Fills

DiCicco is a fabulous doctor! I lived in New Tampa when he banded me in 2008. He has an office in Zeph and in Tampa.
  9. I was just about to say the same thing! I was banded in 2008 and lost 79 lbs, but it's been rough letting go of that lost 30 lbs in between spinal surgeries. I think I'm finally at my sweet spot and am now eating very healthy thanks to Weight Watchers. I've fought those physiological issues for years and I think WW is helping me get past that point.

I Hate To Ask This But...

Your nutritionist is absolutely correct. You have to assure that you are taking in an appropriate amount of fruits and vegetables. I have had multiple spinal surgeries and the medication that I take comes with the constipation side effect. Without a stool softener each night with my normal meds and taking in fruits and vegetables, I too would probably be where you are. Hope it gets better soon and good luck with your appt.
  11. I wish I had known that moving to another town would be a problem when I needed to see my surgeon. No dr in this town will touch me because of liability issues. If I need to get an adjustment, I have to drive 4 hours to do so. No cool.

    Will My Tightness Go Away?

Keep adjusting until you do. Hang in there! I know exactly what you're going through.

    Will My Tightness Go Away?

I recently had a cc removed and I feel the best I've felt in a couple of years. Yeah, I gained weight afterwards but I'm eating healthy and able to take in an appropriate amount of fluids now. You'll feel much better once you find your "sweet spot" I promise!

    Feeling Down

I have to agree with Dolly. I'm approaching my 4 year anniversary in the bandster club and what a journey it has been! We all have our ups and downs while trying to find our way. At first, my family felt so guilty for eating certain things in front of me because I couldn't eat them. Now, they know that I always come prepared with my own food. I never put myself in the position to be without appropriate foods/portions. You have to work at this as it definitely is not a solution to the behavior that put us in the position of needing gastric surgery. This is a tool to help us. I've struggled with the mindset required to lose weight. I think we all do. Surround yourself with supportive people, stop hibernating and get out and exercise and I guarantee you'll feel better! I've had multiple spinal surgeries, which has resulted in weight gain from time to time. I'm still working on my last 30 lbs and it's tough, but I know if I eat right and exercise I'll get there. I'm an Army brat, so this has been drilled into my brain for years - Adapt and Overcome!
