  1. I had my surgery in March '09 and I've got sucked back into my old eating habits and need help getting out! I've tried on my own for about 5-6 months now, and it's not getting any better. I'm currently 7 lbs from my surgery weight, and starting to get depressed. Lost my job in Sept. so that's not helping me much either.

I try and do Portion Control and not drink anything around my meal time, but it just seems like 40 minutes to an hour later, I'm hungry again!

It seems like right now, I'm at a dead end and getting no where.

My insurance switch and now does not cover this so I can't go back in to see my doctor.

So, does anyone no of any good and helpful support groups online? I looked on here, but couldn't find any.

    Thanks so much!

  2. Most important is to find out which surgeons are in her network or covered by her insurance. For example my primary sent me to a group that my insurance wouldn't cover! LOL Fortunately I thought to ask them before I started all the paperwork etc. She needs to start there, and then can narrow it down to a surgeon she likes.

You want one who has done a lot of lap band procedures, who offers good after care (is accessible) and whom she likes.

Okay thanks. I wasn't sure because the process for me was so much easier than it probably will be for her!!!

  3. I have been trying to figure out my "new stomach" since my last fill, but I can't understand it.

I don't know how much was in my band the day of surgery, but last month they put in .6cc's.

Depending on what kind of food it is, like Soup, I get full quick. But on other food's like sandwich's or pizza (I caved this week for pizza  ), I can eat.....forever, until I stop myself. But I just won't feel full.

I thought to myself that it should be opposite. Like soup would kind of just go right through, while carbs would take a while to travel through the band.

Is anybody else feeling the same way? Or is there anybody that might possibly be able to explain to me whats going on?

    Also....

I get hungry really quick after eating. Maybe like 1 hr and 30 minutes later...

    Is that normal?

    Thanks for your help

    Kayla

  4. I was just wondering what everybody was doing for their exercises besides just walking.

I'm just clueless about what I should be doing. I do my walking, but what else would be helpful.

If I do some sit ups, then I think, am I doing enough or am I doing too many...

  5. I actually just had my first fill on Wednesday. And I was surprised when I saw the size of the needle vs. the pain I felt. I was actually laughing when she put it in. Now, I'm one of those panzies where a paper cut sends me home from work...lol. My Dr. told me that I was going to feel bubbles and that was WEIRD!!!! I think she like sucked the air out before putting the stuff in or maybe it was the opposite...I don't know. But anyways....the pain is definately not as bad as you will think it will. Just a little sting...

My first fill they gave me 6cc.'s on Wednesday. It wasn't too bad, just a lot of gas yesteryday....lol

    Good luck

  6. :glare: I had my first fill yesterday and told me to go on the "straw diet" for two days. Well, while at work today they didn't have anything to eat that could go through a straw. So what I did was chew banana with a little Water in my mouth to make it more mushy.

I have terrible pain in the middle of my stomach with painful back ache. My stomach is growling and the same time I feel full.

Is there something that I can do at home to get rid of this pain? I saw somewhere to try drinking something warm, but I already tried that and it didn't work.

    Please help!!!!

  7. I'm having surgery on the 9th of March through CBSI. So far I have no complaints. However, I have read that there are a lot of people who don't like him. Since you are unsure about going to him or not, I would recommend going to the free seminar (if you haven't already) and setting up a consultation. I'm fully covered through my insurance, but if you aren't, which I am assuming you aren't if you are coming to colorado, they will fight with the insurance company to try to approve you, if not all, then some.

    Good luck on your decisions!

  8. I have seen on these threads something about a "pre-op diet". Can someone tell me what that's about and how long you have to be on it before the surgery?

I have the initial consultation with the surgeon on Monday the 23rd. I am very anxious about this.

    Thanks.

The pre-op diet is usually 3 days before surgery and it's a clear liquid diet only. It's just so that your spleen/liver (can't remember which on:)) is smaller, and that gives the doctor less of a chance of hitting it and causing complications during surgery.

Don't be nervous about the consultation. They are basically just going over most of the stuff that you already know about it...lol. Just ask questions!

Good luck and hoped this helped.

  9. Hi,

It is great to see another one of us in our 20's get control over our life and better ourselves. Congrats, this was the best thing I ever did for myself, difficult, yes, but well worth it.

Wishing you health and happiness and don't hesitate if you have any questions.

    Good luck hun.

I was actually suprised because they (the doctors) almost denied me because of my age. I don't know what made them decide to change their minds, but thankfully they did, and I'll actually be able to get onto a scale and have it go down!!!

But one question I do have, is....

What did you bring with you to the hospital?

So far, all I'm bringing is chap stick and slippers...I don't know what else I will need.

    Thanks!!!
