Anyone want to chat tonight?
Tiffykins replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yeppers, I know. I am having a super craptastic day so I doubt I'll be on much tonight. I don't know, but I have felt horrific all day, and I've had about 10 of those low blood pressure fainting episodes after not having any for a couple of weeks. I almost passed completely out when I was trying to get dinner in the oven for Caysen. He wrapped his arms around my waist and was like "mom what's wrong?" Apparently, I went stark white, and my eyes rolled back. Super creepy, so I'm just hanging out in my recliner tonight. I've eaten pretty good all day, and am on target for calories so it's gotta be my BP acting up again. -
what's the deal with hair loss
Tiffykins replied to seaview's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It does regrow. I lost half of my of my hair, literally half of it. I didn't wear dark colored shirts if I could avoid it because I was blonde during my losing stage. But, it does grow back. My new growth is growing in stick straight. I had super wavy, voluminous hair pre-sleeve, now my hair has little body, and it takes a lot of product for me to get it to do anything. I mainly flat Iron it now to tame the stray, fly away, chia pet new growth. Edit to add: My shedding started right around 3.5 months, and lasted 3 solid months. During this entire time, my labs were fabulous, and I was consuming normal foods and hitting Protein goals every day. -
Sleeve set for Apr 19th, anyone else?
Tiffykins replied to lil.ole.me's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So very glad to hear that you ladies are doing well, and I can't wait to hear your updates once you are able to post more. Welcome to the loser's bench, it's a great place to be. -
Youtube Videos and your photos
Tiffykins replied to Tiffykins's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I know it's super creepy to me. I have found at least 6 other members of OH that have been featured without their permission and have filed complaints with Youtube. The uploader did remove the photos from the links I found earlier today. But, I keep finding videos that contain pics that have been posted within the last 2-3 weeks so it's very recent activity. So, there is a lurker here snagging pictures, and using them. I'm trying to watch for members here as well, and notify them as I recognize them. I'm trying to find the Rules/Copyright rules here on this forum and see if there is a violation by the uploader snagging pictures from here. If the uploader wasn't trying to get people to join their forum, I probably wouldn't be as upset. I know the internet is not private and nothing is sacred. But, a little common courtesy would have been appreciated. And the uploaders attitude really ticked me off so instead of playing nice, I just keep flagging the videos that I find. -
What a difference a month makes.....

Anna, I'm super proud of you and all that you've done in this month. You did have a rough start, and you conquered through it all. Keep it up, and keep posting. -
Youtube Videos and your photos
Tiffykins replied to Tiffykins's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
They have removed my images, but I'm not rescinding my privacy violation complaint with youtube help center. They can contact her, and let her know that unless she has permission from all the people in her videos then she is violating the privacy TOS. She also has a bunch of other pics, and Biggest Loser contestant pictures and P90X users on her channel that I'm sure have some sort of copyright. I honestly think they got the pictures from here. It's the only forum/website that I had my pictures public for everyone to see. Everywhere else my photos are private, or password protected. -
I was released to eat nuts at 3 months. I started off with slivered almonds, and worked my way up to other nuts. Macdamia nuts, almonds, peanuts, and cashews have worked just fine for me.

Youtube Videos and your photos
Tiffykins replied to Tiffykins's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I did report it, and she has 2 days to remove my images. I went through some of the other videos and there are people from OH in her videos as well, and I'm trying to contact them to let them know that she's using people's pictures without consent or even knowledge. I was trying to be nice, but then she wanted me to thank her for not using my pics with some diet pills that I supposedly used. I didn't even address that comment. I've bookmarked her channel, and will be watching for other videos in the future. -
Many congrats, I'm so glad they were able to get you scheduled during that crucial time for you. I'm excited for you ! ! !

How much non-surgical shrinkage is possible?
Tiffykins replied to ouroborous's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I have 3 pretty decent size tats on my back. I was extremely round with lots of back fat. Now, my ribs and backbone stick out, so it's literally just skin and bone back there. My tats have not changed at all. I have one at the top of back right below the collar, one over my right shoulder blade, and the infamous tramp stamp. All of them look fine not like muttled messes. -

Tiffykins replied to Tiffykins's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This is the message I received back in regards to my request to remove my photos. BTW, I do not have before/after photos posted of Flickr.com. My OH photo album is private to friends only, and my photobucket is also password protected. I don't care what intent the poster had, call it motivation, or inspiration. It isn't her place to share with the Youtube community about my surgery. -
A member here, youknowit, let me know she had seen my before and some after pics of me in some youtube videos. Least to say, I did not authorize this usage of my photos. I contacted the poster, and advised them that they were violating the TOS of youtube. I'm assuming they snagged my photos from this forum because my OH is completely private. So, I went in and made my photo album here available to only my friends. I gave the poster 24 hours to reply. If I do not hear from them, I will report the privacy violation to Youtube. If your album is public, go to your User CP, hit Privacy Options, and then make it available only to your friends. I'm not completely upset by having my pictures out there. It's the principle that the poster did not ask for permission to use them. I realize the internet is not private. I realize once it's out there, it's out there. That is NOT my concern so I don't need a lecture on posting pics on the internet. My point is that the pics were snagged, and used without any consideration or authorization. Even a common courtesy to say "hey I'm making some videos on youtube and would like to use your pics." would have been appreciated. Also, the poster has a weight loss forum/community (not just for WLS patients) that he/she is trying to get people to join. So, least to say, we'll see what happens.

More concerned w/ the liquid diet than the surgery!
Tiffykins replied to lavonwarrior's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Welcome, and we're glad to have you here. I only had to do high protein/low carb for a week before both of my surgeries for the band and my sleeve revision, and my BMI was 49 pre-op. To shrink the liver actually takes a few months on a stringent diet. From what I've been reading on true fatty livers, essentially the pre-op diets helps the slippery fat that is on the outside of the liver to shrink making it easier to move out of the way with the liver retractor, and it's not as "slick". Pretty much reducing the risk of a liver laceration during the procedure. The surgeon has to move the liver out of the way to get to the stomach, and keep it out of the way while dissecting the large portion of the stomach, and making sure the fundus (we want this all gone, it's the biggest part of the stomach that makes that nasty hunger hormone called Ghrelin) is fully dissected. We'll be here to help you in every way possible. Let us know how your appointment goes, and keep us posted on your progress. -
Anyone want to chat tonight?
Tiffykins replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I've been hitting the sheets early this week. I've found since I've been taking the Wellbutrin on a consistent basis that I'm sleeping so much better. I have been getting up and around by 7am, and crashing out around 11. Plus, John and I are trying to go to bed together instead of him crashing super early, and me staying up all night. I'll try to be in tonight for a bit. -
I was the same way when I started post-op. I was shocked, and really had to rearrange my thinking about food. I also became very label conscious with everything I put in my body.

Another hair loss question.
Tiffykins replied to excited2lose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost half of my hair, literally half of it, and it got thin on the crown of my head. I had super thick, coarse hair, and it freaked me out as well. It would go in spurts for me. I did lose a huge amount at first then it would not be as severe for a few days then it was back to having to use liquid Plumber in the shower drain every 2 days. -
Need a little info.....
Tiffykins replied to ShellieB73's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I can't help you on the insurance stuff. But strictures can happen, but with the sleeves being made with the 32fr-40fr they have seen less strictures. Ulcers can be an issue if you are prone to ulcers pre-op, and but I haven't seen it in any of my research as a long term complication. My surgeon said smoking post op can cause ulcers. Welcome to the forum, I hope you get some answers on the insurance front. I know how frustrating the band can be. The sleeve is a great tool, and it's night and day vs. the band. Best wishes. -
10:30 tomorrow morning - surgery begins for sleeve

ODD Man Out!
Tiffykins replied to ichefmastersgirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You aren't alone. The others will chime in I'm sure. But, OregonDaisy had zero issues drinking post-op with her revision. Maybe y'all are quick healers? OregonDaisy said that Dr. Aceves made her slow down while she was there because she could drink so much so soon after surgery. If you want, she's really great about answering questions, so shoot her a private message, and she'll reply back if she doesn't see your thread. -
YAY YAY for a great surgery, best wishes for a smooth recovery ! ! ! We've all scooted over for you Tiff on the loser's bench.

Not a lot to report to be honest. I'm having a love/hate relationship with my body right now, and honestly there isn't anything I can do to "fix" it. I'm doing everything "right", I'm eating, I'm enjoying life, but now the scale is being down right evil. I'm not sure how much smaller I can get. Last night and today, I'm weighing in at 123. Honestly, I'm pretty damn devastated over it. I'm trying so hard to just maintain, and not lose anymore yet my body will not cooperate. Just when I think I've got it figured out, I step on the scale and BAM 2-3lbs gone. I've even quit weighing every day. I wish it was just water weight, or bloating, but this is actual weight. I told my husband last night that if I hit 120 I'm going on weight gainer. Because I refuse to slip below 120. I'm hoping my new work out routine will help build some muscle mass, and that will help stop the loss and even add some pounds back to my frame. I'm only going to lift weights, and do ab/core exercises. No cardio, I may go swimming in my neighbor's pool, but nothing to burn the calories I get in every day. Mentally, I am absolutely drained. Physically, I feel great.

LOL I just couldn't tolerate Isopure. I know a lot of people that love it, but ehhh it had me wretching up my guts.

Really struggling with eating
Tiffykins replied to Stacie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you've been released for regular food, then you could try to eat something crunchy. I started off slow with crunchy stuff, I ate those big thick pretzel sticks with some mustard, it was only a couple of bites, and I was done. It was just enough crunch to satisfy that need, it got super soft and dissolved with me chewing it. I know it's tough and you're right your sleeve is probably smaller because it hasn't had anything in it in so long. So, it's going to take you some time to be able to get in anything of substance. The Protein drinks suck, and I had a really hard time getting in protein until I could tolerate chicken and tuna salad. Even then it was really difficult. I'm almost 11 months out, and I can only 1/2 taco with meat, cheese and sour cream. I was scared to eat too because of the complications we went through, but you're gonna have to eat. Your body needs it, mentally you will feel better. -
I went through the same thing around 2.5 to 3 months out. Literally, everything tasted horrible, and I was force feeding myself as well. It does pass. The one remedy I found was trying to overseason food, and new recipes. It's what spurred my obsession with cooking new stuff. It is very frustrating, and I know it's difficult. I wish I could give you some better advice, but it just took time for me. Hang in there.
