I'm type 2 & take metformin, glimeperide and Lantus at night. My bs is running 200 in the morning taking nothing. Trying to work with my endo to figure out what to do. Surgery was Monday and so I'm still healing. Taking in mo calories and Dr sent me home with liquid meds, with sugar. Go figure.

I had my surgery on Monday and my surgeon has me on Clear Liquids for 7 days, then on to shakes, and Protein Soups etc. I don't think I'm ready for anything thicker. I just want to give my stomach time to heal. Best wishes on your recovery.

Omg no! I paid $150! My Dr had me do it online. You take an assessment and they call and it takes like 15 minutes. Bariatric Phsyc evaluation.

Well, I had surgery on Monday and it went well. I had a small hiatal hernia repaired. I'm in a world of hurt. This by far is the worst surgery I've ever had--most painful. I'm going through some serious buyers remorse, like wtf did I do to myself?
I can barely take care of myself, so my daughter got up and gave me pain medicine and crushed my anti-nausea meds.
Today is day three of clear liquid only. Still a bit parched. Good luck to all the new surgeries coming up.

I have lost 14 pounds in 6 days. I'm barely able to function at this point. I'm worried how bad it will get with one week of no nutrition. Not allowed vit clear liquids after surgery. When is yours?

It will be worth. Remember it hurts to be beautiful! And just think how beautiful you’ll be after this. Maybe I should say beautiful you’ll feel. Everything comes at a price. You’ll make it!
Just can’t believe some surgeons send people home when they are not ready!!

I felt the same way for sure. I didn't have a repair but I was hurting really bad and was in the hospital for 4 days. I definitely thought wtf did I do? Mind you, this was my first ever surgery. Like star said though, each day gets better in some way or another, something hurts less, something gets easier. I'm 2 weeks, 3 days out and I almost feel normal again. I still have some pain though, nothing compared to day 3 though. I wish you a speedy recovery.

I have diabetes and I have quite a regimen of medications. I've felt terrible sick on my pre-op diet. I can only imagine how lovely I will feel on Clear Liquids only for 1 week.

Agree with all of the above! I’m going to make Soup from now on & only use half of my usual stock. I’m amazed at just how salty food really is!!

Here's my theory (not sure if it's founded in science, but here goes):
As a society, we've become more tolerant of salt and sugar to the point where we're kind of "taste blind" to it. During the pre-op and immediate post-op period, you're on a very specific and restricted diet. You've essentially purged sugar and salt from your diet. So, when you start introducing these things again, you're more sensitive to it.

gabybab reacted to AlteredReality in Stomach spasms turned out to be an ulcer
A couple of days ago, I posted about the horrible pain I was dealing with. I thought I was having stomach spasms. Well the pain got so bad today along with the vomiting, that I just couldn't even take it anymore. So I decided to take a trip to the emergency room. They did a CT scan and ultrasound, they saw that my gall bladder was distended and that I had an ulcer where my small intestine and new stomach connected. They decided to do an endoscopy and found that I had a 2 inch ulcer and admitted me to the hospital to start immediate treatment. My advice is if you feel like something isn't right within your body, get some medical help as soon as possible...Don't procrastinate

Results will vary, regardless of which surgery a person has had. It's not just the surgery itself that is a factor. BMI plays a part, as well as genetics, age, plus a number of other factors. At my 6-month checkup, I'd lost a total of 110 pounds. I was told that, by 6-months, they expect patients to have lost 50% of their excess body weight. Which I'd accomplished. At 9-months post-op, I'm still losing weight. I've lost 67% of my excess body weight, according to my surgeon's nurse practitioner. But that was 17 pounds ago. I don't regret choosing the sleeve, if that helps.

I was scheduled for bypass but my small intestine was too short to do it so I ended up with the sleeve and couldn’t be happier. It seems now that I’m 4 months out my stomach is more sensitive. I feel hot and cold food like never before and am nauseated a lot. I guess that’s my signal. I get nauseated on car rides. Crazy huh?

The liquid diet in the hospital was absolutely gross. I was on a floor with several Bariatric patients and specially trained nurses. They took very good care of me. The dietary department had issues. I’d rather not eat at all sometimes
