  1. I just had my 2nd port revision this past friday 6/14/13 due to being flipped. This time it looks more swollen but my Dr. Said that he was going to use a mesh to make sure it stuck this time and did not flip. I hope this is the last time since I have been banded since 3/09. I have been having minor pain and went back to normal routine, just no heavy lifting.

  2. I'm 4 years banded and only very few people know. When I had it done I told the nozzy people at work that I had a hernia and that was it. People would ask me if I had the band and I would tell them that our insurance did not cover. They agreed. ( maybe because they also tried) LOL!! Even my sisters and brother don't even know. This is a tool to help me lose weight so they don't need to be up in my business. But it is hard going out to work related events. I was known as being able to pound the booze without a problem. Now I take it easy as the band has also affected how much alcohol I can handle. Stick with one story and you should be good.

  3. You should be good. When I was on my pre op diet I went out on to a work even and had a meal and drinks. It was only one day so that was not a problem. From what my dr is that they want your stomach to shrink a little and also have it empty at the time of surgery. I'm 4 years banded and was the best decision made.

  4. Six months should be enough time to heal. I also feel some pressure or mild discomfort when I try to pull start my edger or kick start my quad. I guess we will always have the feeling of doing something that can damage the band or port.

Day 2 for me and I'm feeling good. I'm using this as a starting point to get back on track in eating right and hopefully losing more weight.

  5. I was told that its rare. The Dr. Said that when they place the port on your abdominal wall, sometimes the port will move with the scare tissue. So the port is not flat and you will not be able to get a fill. This time the Dr. Placed a mesh behind it to make sure it stays fastened to my abdominal wall. I was banded in 09 and have no regrets.. Good Luck and stay positive.

  6. My port has already flipped once and had surgery to fix it in 8/10 The dr says that the body rejects the suchers and they depend on scar tissue to help it stay in place. Well I went in for a fill a few weeks ago and the Dr. Could not find the port again. Did the floro x ray yesterday and it's flipped again. Dr's PA called me this morning and he said that my port is at a 90 degree angle and wants to see if he cann get to it now that he has seen the x-ray. I go back in on the 26 to see if I get surgery again or just remove the band.

  7. What's up fellas. I was just banded on 3/3/09 a week ago today and I feel great. I was about 305lbs before I started my liqiuid diet 1 week before my surgery. I did cheat only two days with a bit of food. I was a bit freaked out becase I have never had any type of surgery before. Went in and out in a flash. I'm on liquids right now till next week and have been doing god in controling my hunger.

I just weighed myself a while ago and I'm down to 278 lbs.

I have not weighed this since probably 2001.

If I can do it all of you can also. I was the type that if I was infront of the computer like right now I would of had 2-3 twienkies by now and a few Cookies to.

Good luck to all. You can do it!!

  8. I have my surgery date set for 3/3/09 at Oraqnge Coast in F.V. I have been looking at this site for questions that I have. I guess that I'm still in a shock mode that I'm doing this so I have not started to prepare.

What protien driks should I begin to try and what is the best place to buy them.

Only my wife knows about this and plan to keep it that way.

Does anybody have a preferance between the two bands.

    Realize band vs. Lap Band

    Any help will be great.
