  1. Im not sure where you are in canada, but if your near Buffalo N.Y. I highly recommend Dr Aaron Hoffman at Buffalo General Hospital, only about 10 min from the piece bridge. My prayers are with you, if you need his phone # let me know...vicki

  3. Hey BG, have you made a decision yet? im ok, got out today and drove and went to wegmans, came home and went back out to walmart...need to move around. even walked the dog...
  4. Mommy, i'm trying to find some one sleeved not too far out like you, i was sleeved 12 days ago and i lost 9 lbs the first week, then gained three back and have lost one since, and i have stayed the same for several days, its hard to believe that the weight is not falling off since I'm not eating, just liquids which incl: v8, fruit juices and protien drinks. everyone one else i read about seems to lose so much the first couple weeks, how did you do and do you thing i am losing slow? thanks, vicki
  5. Yes Shar, that was me, i wish i had known who you were because i know so many by name and not face, since i never attended the meetings before...have a great cruise, i hope you enjoy and fill us in when u get back...
  6. I have heard of strictures, where ur stomach binds together in the middle and consticts due to scar tissue I think. please let us know and god bless...
  7. I do understand what ur saying about another surgery, i dont think i would opt for another surgery after this one. I try and think about this too, but if we are not chasing cookies with milkshakes, i dont see how we could gain it back, with out stomachs being 80% smaller. but I guess you never know, our bodies are amazing and could adjust I guess, I dont know, but they have been doing this surgery for 7 years in the us, it is not new, its just that they were doing it as the first part of the duodenal switch when patients were to big or sick to have the whole surgery at once and they seen that the pts were doing fine without the second part of the surgery, hence the sleeve was born. so they have at least 7 years of data, why dont u talk to Posner and see exactly what the stats are? I would be interested myself.
  8. thanks so much, i really want my straw back LOL....feel like a baby and his baabaa...
  9. ty. i guess thats what im doing now without the straw, but i sure miss my straws. i feel like i swallow more air without it....
  10. Dear sleeve, i thought we were not suppose to use straws, or is that just in the beginning? i miss my straw and feel like i swallow more air without the straw. does full liquid mean like blended chili or ministrone Soup etc....? thanks vicki
  11. Hi oregon, what exactly is full liquids, i keep hearing that term and dont know what it is? ty vicki
  12. How long does that last val, until you start eating more solid food?
  13. well, let me say, that the pain was not worse than the bands, the only thing that hurt was where he took out the port, i never felt any internal pain like where the stomach was stapled, ever. You can check with val, but even the other site says most people say not any worse..so dont worry about pain, cause you already experienced and made it thru that. i Didn't even have any gas pain at all,,
  14. Well NBG, its the shock of a new sugery unexpected, all of us were given the news of a new sugery and not expecting it. we all seemed to just go in for a fill and were hit with the prospect of a new surg. and scheduled within a few weeks, so your mind, like mine was, is spinning, so much to absorb and think about and learn and its exciting and scary, so i get it... the clear diet is broth, jello, watered down juices, skim milk, protien shakes, vitamin water, diet gaterade, crystal lite popcycles, and drinks, etc.... watch what u read online because the post op diets are all over the place depending on the doctor. some doc's wont let their pts drink flavored protien shakes, but hoffman does, i had the chocolate fudge eas myoplex from sams club... you will have to check because u have Posner and he may be different, but i would thing they are the same since they hand out the same paperwork. Your not driving me crazy, I had soooo many questions too..:rolleyes2:
  15. Thank you, i had seen it mentioned a couple times and just couldn't put it together...
  16. she did say plain yogurt thinned with milk, i would imagine same holds true for pudding, and yes you can have sugar free jello, i just didn't, even though i do have it, just jello'd out...i did have v8 juice today and orange juice yummmmm, and coffee YAY. got downstairs in the lobby and smelled that coffe and forgot to ask, so i called back up there and told melissa to ask someone and she asked barb and she said decaf..... ive heard alot of people on the vst.com talk about going straight to chinese rest. and getting wonton and drinking the broth, it does sound goooood....:rolleyes2: Now, whats this about nerves, your the one who told me not to worry about anything, so whats your beef. hmmmm, beef.
  17. have fun and dont get towed back by tug boats, no airconditioning , no toilets, and have to eat spam before you get sleeved LOL
  18. Thats what I'm doing, liquids for 1 more week, i too would rather not eat LOL......who in their right mind could eat like that. yuck is right...i cant even do the baby food.:rolleyes2:
  19. Wow LilMiss, my hats off to you, your a much better woman than me. i cannot even fathom driving 66 miles 4 days after surg. As far as driving, my doc says i had to be cleared by him on my first post op, because of anesthesia and drugs given during surgery and post op meds have to clear your system and if u get into an accident, your insurance company will not cover u, this is true for all surgeries, at least here in NY, good luck and dont medicate and drive...
  20. Well, i went for my 10 day post-op and only lost 7 lbs and i actually gained too because i was down 11 and gained 3.8 back the last couple days so i know how your feeling. I would have to lose 8 lbs in the next four days to be where u are, so you are doing better than me...my doc said the first few weeks are up and down because of Fluid loss of retention, we can become dehydrated and lose a couple lbs and then our body holds onto fluid to compensate, so i guess we need to get over the initial trauma of surger, and be able to drink adequate amts of fluid to determine what our true gains and losses really are...hope that helped...vicki
  21. Hi , I just want to say you remind me of myself a couple weeks ago, i was terrified of a leak and still am since I'm only 10 days out, i was sooooo scared i was ready to cancel my surg. but i did obviously go ahead with it, the odds seem right because 1 in 200 is 1/2 percent, but it also means you have a 199 out of 200 chance of being ok. I am not telling you what to do, that is a decision only you can make, i just wanted to let you know, your not alone with the fear factor and i also just wanted to flip the number so you could see the other side of the odds...good luck to you and let us know how you make out in your decision...
  22. Thanks NBG, i tried doing cheddar soup from campbells and i put a full can of skim milk and it was too thick so i added more milk and i took two bites and put it down the garbage disposal it tasted bad to me. i do have other creamed soups, but i usually eat them the way they are and to thin it to just more than the consisancy i am doing now, which is clear fluids, it just altered the taste, or maybe it was me. some people say their taste changed after the surgery, im not sure if thats what it is, im not really hungry honestly so maybe that is a factor , so, to make a long story short, i am back to protien shakes and in one week, i can do puree, so i will just hold off. PS i aso bought a bunch of baby food, forget it she said that was too thick to so to thin it out, i tried the bananas with orange juice and ewwwwwwww..... so im hoping thy take all the rest back, cause if i couldnt do bananas, im not doing chicken and turkey thined with broth...just cant do it....
  23. I have to say that was about as funny as it comes ....
