  2. i'll meet u in the lobby BG is anyone else going?
  3. I hope i can get some emotional support here since i cant get any from home, i am getting sleeved on 11/1 and i am 54 yrs old. i have had the lapband for 2 1/2 yrs, but after an initial loss of 104 lbs i had a prolapse in march and an emergency revision and have since gained 40 lbs back. My doc had reccomended the sleeve, and everyone i need to help me get thru the fear and surgery are totally against it. one min. i am having the surgery and the next i am cancelling it due to fear...i am sooooo scared, i cant function or sleep.....thanks for listening.
  4. I was just reading everyones posts and was surprised to see talk of hair loss, i didnt know there was hair loss with the sleeve. duh! i heard biotin is good for hair loss. also, i drink myoflex lite protien shakes premade. 20 grams of protien, they are the only ones i found that i like anyone else try these. a little pricey, i buy them at sams club by the case. can throwing up cause a leak? thanks vicki~

    terrified!

thanks everyone, Sarah, the reason they are against it is pretty much the same as your family, they say i should do it on my own lol..if i could, i wouldnt be fat, and they say it is dangerous because i am removing most of my stomach, and when i say it, it does sound extreme, but if i cant lose the weight with diet excersise and the band, whats left? I am too scared to do bypass, so this is the only answer it seems for me... i am scared of leaks or infection, how long does it take before the suture line is healed and leak is not a concern anymore and how do you know your not eating or drinking too much to break the staples. Is the surgery extremely painful, im sorry if im a pain, but i am just so scared, especially since my neighbor and friend who is an anesthesiologist says she has seen this surg and it is radical......grrrrrrrr why do people make things harder than it has to be? thanks for listening...soryy im whining...........vicki
  6. dear dave, i am very new to this site, but not to lapbandtalk.com, because i was banded on 6/9/08. i slipped in march and had my band revised. i lost 104 lbs with the first band, and gained 35 with the second because i fell of the south beach diet and didnt get back on. the band is work, but it really does work if u work with it..lol....anyway, since i have lost my mojo, the doctor feels i should go with the sleeve so my surgery is nov. 1. i am not sorry i got the band, i did lose 104 lbs and probably would have continued to lose if not for the prolapse. im not sure how the sleeve with work for me, but i do not blame the band on my failure. I am still down 70 lbs, and am greatful. goood luck with your band and let us know how you make out. also visit lapbandtalk.com you will get alot of support over there......good luck again vicki

    What causes leaks?

wow, well dont feel too bad cause my band was revised and i do have restriction, and i have gained 40 lbs since march...lol...not really funny, but true. i hope the sleeve helps more, i just dont know what to expect, and my doc also wants me to have the sleeve, cause although i lost 104 with the first band the second just isnt working, or maybe im not working with it...

    Mourning the loss of food

thanks for your reply and good luck on your up and coming surg. i only had to do 2 wks of south beach for the band and my friend who had to have her surg. done on an emergency because her band slipped didnt do any pre dieting so i guess as long as we dont do heavy carbs our liver will shrink...thanks again for your help , i will look forward to seeing your posts after the surg...good luck vicki
  13. I am going to the meeting and I dont think i will ever not be nervous about the surg. I just realized that Lynn told me the surg was 3 weeks from last mon. and this morn i see its three weeks from tomorrow, so that gives me an extra week to fret....lol

    Mourning the loss of food

dear lay, i was just reading your post and have a question, i am having my sleeve surg on november 1st, and i have had the lapband for 21/2 yrs and a revision of the sleeve back in march, so, i did the liver reduction diet for two weeks prior to the band, but when the doc scheduled me for the sleeve, he never mentioned the diet again. i was wondering what your diet consists of and for how long, because besides wanting to shrink my liver, i need to detox from the sugar..thanks for listening and ill wait for your reply.....i am sooooooooooo scared, how do u feel about your upcoming surg.? PS what is nutrimed?
  15. Oh bg i hope u feel better soon. i had my tonsils out when i was about 7 yrs old, but i still remember the pain i had when they were infected..
  16. yes val i cant imagine a flat belly, good for u! i cant wait to hear from u i have so many questions before my surgery in 2 1/2 weeks, I have no idea what to expect. I hope u tell me it is easier than the band and you dont feel hungry all the time and you dont want junk food LOL...... Rain, i hear your pain, holloween is coming up and i wont let him buy any candy till the day of...grrrrrrrrrrrrr.....and u r sooo right about junk food going down so much easier, its true....
  17. thanks rose and emma for all your hlep and encouragment, i really appreciate it, i asked about drinking because i am not suppose to drink with the band because it flushes the food thru and then you are hungry again. im not sure if the same is true for the sleeve or if it because they want you to get your solids in first....i was also curious about the hunger and craving issues because i have read the remove the part of the stomach that releases the hormone ghrelin that causes hunger, but not sure if u still crave food. I am sooo scared, im afraid of leaks and infection etc...also, does everyone get those drains and how many for how long....thanks again, i appreciate any input so very much.... vicki
  18. Hi, i am writing to you because of your age, i am 54 and have been terrified of my up and coming surgery on 11/1/10. everyone on the site seems to be young and i am terrified, i have had 2 bands, and now going for the sleeve. also, does the sleeve take away the hunger and cravings or do u have to work hard with your diet like the band, and can u drink when u eat...sooooo many questions,,,sorry...............vicki

i am set for surg. on 11/1 . got banded on 6/9/08, slipped in march and rebanded. i have gained 40 lbs since then and cant control my hunger or cravings, so before i go thru with this i want to know if the cravings and hunger dissapear or will i still be miserable. waiting to hear from you....tysvm vicki
  21. How long does it take to go from liq. to mushies, to solids, and what do they consider solid...lol...how much can u eat and what can u eat when u go to solid? sorry about all the questions, i just read the forum on complications and now im freaking out again. not to mention no one is supporting me on this surg.
  22. THANKS FOR BEING POINT BLANK, NOW THAT I KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT, I WONT FEAR THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG. CONGRATS ON YOUR WT LOSS YOU LOOK SO THIN IN YOUR PIC.
