MY DOC ALSO GAVE ME A CARD WHEN I HAD THE BAND STATING I HAD BARIATRIC SURG. SO PLEASE ALLOW ME TO ORDER CHILD SIZE PORTIONS, BUT WHO THE HELL WANTS TO DO THAT AND THEN GET STARED AT AND SEE EVERYONE OF THE STAFF WHISPERING AND LOOKING AT YOU....I DID TRY IT ONE TIME AND THEY REFUSED ME. I WAS SOOOOO EMBARRESED I LEFT...

JUST SEEN YOUR POST, I TOO AM BEING SLEEVED ON NOV.1ST. I AM 54, AND AM FREAKING OUT, ITS FUNNY CAUSE I HAVE THE BAND AND THEN I HAD IT REVISED IN MARCH AND WASNT SCARED AT ALL, BUT NERVOUS WITH THIS ONE. PROBABLY CAUSE THEY ARE TAKING SOMETHING OUT...LOL...GOOD LUCK TO YOU, KEEP US POSTED

I HEAR ALL THESE STORIES ABOUT LIQUID DIETS FOR WEEKS AND REALLY HARDCORE DIETS BEFORE SURGERY, IVE HAD 2 LAPBANDS, AND AM BEING SLEEVED ON NOV. 1ST, AND MY DOC JUST HAS US DO PHASE 1 SOUTHBEACH, FOR 1 WEEK PRIOR TO SURG. EVEN BYPASS..???? DONT GET IT.

im being sleeved on the first and am going on vacation 12/23 and again in march, do u think it would be a good idea to get it and take it with me...?

Thanks guys for the responses after the initial post because i have the band and am being revised to the sleeve on 11/1, and I am always hungry with this band, so if my ghrelin is down due to pressure from the band, then i am in trouble, cause its not working.....glad to hear everyones stories about how the hunger went away after revision from band to sleeve....~Vicki

Good luck to you, I'm sure you will do great....my surg in nov 1st, so hurry back and tell us all about the good stuff...lol

so tiff, i dont know what i would do without you..lol, so why dont i just work the band harder? is the difference from band to sleeve alot. like will i not be hungry all the time, because i am now. i also cant stand the stuck feeling anymore, so i drink sips after meals just to get some relief. but i wont be able to wash it thru the sleeve, right. and slider foods, how can they slide when its in your stomach? am i stupid or what, i just dont understand.

wow, this is kinda scary for me since im already depressed, have been since a child, am on paxil and nothing helps completely, my surg is scheduled for 11/1 and im scared of the surg and now the post op...i have the band and after 1 1/2 yrs it slipped in march of this year and hasn't worked since and ive gained 35 lbs back so the doc offered me the sleeve, i was totally excited at first,, but then came the negativity from friends and fam and reading major complications and now this,,,im freaking out, but i guess it is best to know so when or if it does happen i'll know im not alone....hope you feel better soon, big hugs to all...vicki:)

Can someone tell me what it feels like the first week after being sleeved and how long it takes to start feeling normal or better again...i am going from band to sleeve in 2 wks and im not sure what to expect...if anyone reads this who went from band to sleeve, can u explain how the restriction differs. thanks for listening.....vicki~

Dear Tiff, if i am being too nosy please tell me to mind my own business, but after just reading your post, i was wondering what happened to you that put you in icu, unrecognizable to your son and made you so limited for 3.5 months.? was it all related to the sleeve? sorry if i asked to much...vicki

got my medical clearance from my pmd today, so final weigh in on 26 and surg..on 11/1... waiting for jeannie to call with my pre-op diet...ugh....

I have had the band since 6/08 slipped 3/10 with a revision of the same band. i have since gained 40 lbs and the doctor had offered me the sleeve to be done one 11/1, i am terrified, i am 53 and this will be my 3rd abdominal surg. in 2 1/2 yrs! im afraid of leaks, or infection. what does it feel like, when u eat, does it feel like the band, getting stuck and still hungry all the time? any words of wisdom or advice is much appreciated....ty vix

absolutely, i want to feel like i ate something and it went into my stomach and not stuck in my chest, lately i have been drinking with my meals because i cant stand the stuck feeling anymore....i am freaking out now again, because i saw a post earlier from some husband who's wife is in icu after her surg. because she had a leak and he was asking for prayer because they thought she may not make it, did u see it, did u know of her...this is terrible, i hope she is alright...keep me posted if u know of anything, thanks vicki

sorry mary, i posted in the wrong place and then could not delete it...was just wondering if i would be able to fly to georgia and then drive 5 hours to savannah for a pre scheduled vacation 6 weeks after surgery or is it unrealistic? thanks vicki

thanks shana, what i wanted to hear was that the food didnt get stuck in your chest and it is a more normal full feeling, cause the whole time i had the band i never felt full or satisfied and i hate the stuck feeling in my chest. i too am freaking out about the surg. and hope i do as well as you...thanks for your reply. still learning to navigate around in here...lol vicki

I am going from band to sleeve in 3 weeks, and i am due to travel from N.Y. to Georgia on the 23 of december for christmas, while i am there we will be taking a 5 hour 4 day trip to Savannah site seeing etc. do u think i will be up to it, my grandchildren are 7 and 9 and are so excited about the trip? thanks vicki~~
