    2 questions

Wow LilMiss, my hats off to you, your a much better woman than me. i cannot even fathom driving 66 miles 4 days after surg. As far as driving, my doc says i had to be cleared by him on my first post op, because of anesthesia and drugs given during surgery and post op meds have to clear your system and if u get into an accident, your insurance company will not cover u, this is true for all surgeries, at least here in NY, good luck and dont medicate and drive...
  2. Well, i went for my 10 day post-op and only lost 7 lbs and i actually gained too because i was down 11 and gained 3.8 back the last couple days so i know how your feeling. I would have to lose 8 lbs in the next four days to be where u are, so you are doing better than me...my doc said the first few weeks are up and down because of Fluid loss of retention, we can become dehydrated and lose a couple lbs and then our body holds onto fluid to compensate, so i guess we need to get over the initial trauma of surger, and be able to drink adequate amts of fluid to determine what our true gains and losses really are...hope that helped...vicki

    1 in 200 die ?

Hi , I just want to say you remind me of myself a couple weeks ago, i was terrified of a leak and still am since I'm only 10 days out, i was sooooo scared i was ready to cancel my surg. but i did obviously go ahead with it, the odds seem right because 1 in 200 is 1/2 percent, but it also means you have a 199 out of 200 chance of being ok. I am not telling you what to do, that is a decision only you can make, i just wanted to let you know, your not alone with the fear factor and i also just wanted to flip the number so you could see the other side of the odds...good luck to you and let us know how you make out in your decision...
  4. Thanks NBG, i tried doing cheddar soup from campbells and i put a full can of skim milk and it was too thick so i added more milk and i took two bites and put it down the garbage disposal it tasted bad to me. i do have other creamed soups, but i usually eat them the way they are and to thin it to just more than the consisancy i am doing now, which is clear fluids, it just altered the taste, or maybe it was me. some people say their taste changed after the surgery, im not sure if thats what it is, im not really hungry honestly so maybe that is a factor , so, to make a long story short, i am back to protien shakes and in one week, i can do puree, so i will just hold off. PS i aso bought a bunch of baby food, forget it she said that was too thick to so to thin it out, i tried the bananas with orange juice and ewwwwwwww..... so im hoping thy take all the rest back, cause if i couldnt do bananas, im not doing chicken and turkey thined with broth...just cant do it....
  5. I have to say that was about as funny as it comes ....
  6. Yeah, when she told me to take cottage cheese and put it in the blender with water or milk and then put it in a mesh strainer and drink what comes thru, i though UH, NO, I dont think so..ewwwwwwww:drool:
  7. thanks BG, you'll be on the losers bench soon ) It did take a while before Jeannie came in and then some more time with her..sorry i missed ya before you left...(
  8. YAY!!!! she actually gave me a nov 30th and changed it to dec.3rd...
  9. ok, so i was down to 211 lbs for 2 days and then yesterday jumped back up to 213.8 and same today, he said the fluids in my body are adjusting and is not even worried about me losing weight right now. so im down 7 lbs. he took the drain out and im on to watery baby food yuck...well what ever i can put in the blender water down and then put in a mesh strainer and its what come out, the liquid is what u drink, well, i amost threw up hearing it, i did buy some small jars of stage 1 baby food and will thin it out so able to drink it if i cant handle it, back to straight liquids i go, cause it is just nasty sounding and if i had to prepare it, i wouldnt drink it ewwwwwwwwwwww~~
  10. OMG...hahahahahahahhahahahahah that was hysterical... :wink5: :lol2: :tt2:
  11. BG, where did u go today, i had to see jeannie and then you were gone?
  12. Hi jenn, im doing well, will know more after the doc today. how r u doing, glad to hear from ya..
  13. I wonder why you didn't get one val? Not that it matters now, but just curious...
  14. Oh thats right, you have Posner, so, he might do things a little differently, not sure, but the drain is too catch the fluid that collects in your abdominal cavity after surgery and if you would every get a leak, less than 1%, it would collect that too, so im really glad i have one, it gave me peice of mind... congrats to you on your decision, and we will welcom you to the loser's bench after your surgery LOL... I will let you know how I make out tomorrow...:crying:)
  15. i go in tomorrow for the post op appt., but yeah it was gross the first couple days, i never had one before, after a couple days, i got used to it. i'm not sure, as far as how long, i guess until your post op and mine happens to be 10 days, i guess it could be anywhere from a week to 10 days. Val didn't have a drain, but i guess he is doing it on everyone now. Have u decided what to do yet or are you still researching? Oh and yeah you could go out, just tuck it in your pants or tape it to your belly or pin it to your shirt LOL. use it as any earing. oh, im sorry, getting silly now...cant wait to eat something, im not sure what they let you puree at first?
  16. Yes well me too BG, but i did good until last nite, i just tuck the bulb in my waist band, but last nite i forgot after changing my clothes and sat on it and it was pulling, thank God he puts one stitch in to hold it somewhat, but if i had pulled any longer, that woulda come out. It must happen, cause he said in the hospital, be careful you dont pull it out. LOL....
  17. WOw, good for you shelby, i was sleeved on nov 1, and i was on here crying like a baby, i would have eaten anything if i could, and everyone told me it was normal, and to just breathe and focus, i dont recommend this, ask your doctor, but honestly the only thing that got me through was chewing sugar free gum, i chewed tons of it just for the flavor and the chewing, it satisfied me enough to get me through the last 9 days, i go tomorrow for my 10 day post op and this morn i was down 9 lbs since surgery day. hang in there, it does get better.....
  18. Yes, NBG, her name is tiffkins and she is a walking encyclopedia on the sleeve, she is scouting new questions everyday and answering them, she is ver sweet and very knowledgable, I havent seen anyone gain weight yet but i seen a couple posts about being afraind to lose to much and most people responded by sayingto increase your intake and decrease cardio. just ckick on forums, and then their are different ones with different content and people are righting in everyday, all day, with questions and answers and tiffkins will tell you to pm her. hope we helped alittle bit..) I go in tomorrow for my post op and get the dranin out...YAY!! honestly, it wasnt bad at all.....
  19. You go gurl, I just got a nook e-reader and down loaded the complete idiots guide to low carb cooking and i have to say some of the recipes look yummy. cant wait to start eating again. Yeah, i never thought to ask val, what does happen when you cant process the protien and if it does get stuck, where does it get stuck at ? LOL.....thanks val, your the pro now so we have to badger you with questions .........hahaha:thumbup:

    Acid / Lump feeling ???

my doc was reluctant to sleeve me because i have a hx of reflux, he said the sleeve can make it worse. i am only 1 week out so dont know what to expect, but i take prilosec. luck to you and i hope i escape it too cause reflux is horrible!
  22. cant really help u on that since i am only 1 week out, but i heard some of the girls say they went from 2 oz to 6 or 7 oz in 7-12 months so i dont think it is unusual, i dont think you would want to go for years only eating 2 oz of food. my doc also said it goes from a small banana to a med banana sized pouch. i hope that helped alot. im sure some more experienced girls will chime in..lots of luck...vicki
  23. when did u have surgery, did u have lap surg. cant help u with the stitches cause i have glue but i do have a drain since my surg was only 1 week ago and it is still draining pink/ yellow clear fluid.
