  1. Short answer is no.

Long answer is I take contracts to work overseas, Kuwait, Iraq, etc. when the money and situation is right. Currently, I have no plans to do another one. I am in stand by mode in Oregon, supporting the DW's career waiting to go back to Texas and burning through some unused college benefits. Once back in Texas I am 90 percent sure I will stop doing contract work (risk vs. benefit) and join the Texas State Troopers and get a little stability location wise. This is assuming I have success with the band. So.... I have all day and night to be the best El Diablo / Dan2001XJ I can be.

  2. Okay, Dan, since you know I love to tease you, I'm game!

See the quote from you above? Now I will copy and paste a piece of the above quote where you say it: "I don't get along with women."

Okay, okay, it's taken out of context, but you defied and I complied.

Outwitted by a peach! :cursing: :crying:

  3. Oops, my name has been used in vain again, so I will respond.

I defy anyone to copy and paste a post of mine that where I said I don't get along with women.

What I did say was "Since the forum is predominantly women, I would probably offend a lot of you"

If your'e gonna quote me, which I love and shows that you pay attention to me and care about what I say:biggrin: just quote me right.

  4. No, Dan, no! You didn't get it! My tongue was firmly planted in my cheek. I was gently teasing you. I thought you'd find it funny.

*scratching monkeys and hyenas off the list*

(The list of animals to compare you to, that is - assuming you're not a camel. Get it? It's a joke!)

I get it peach, I found it insanely funny:biggrin: see the wink, I was tongue in cheek too. But you can see why I get in trouble I guess, my funny ain't funny enough. BTW I am contacting the NAACI national association for the advancement of camels images and filing suit against myself. Maybe camels don't want to be associated with me.

  5. Yes, you don't care so much that you wrote a book to respond. I don't care if you think I am a snob. You have the manners of a camel. Just leave me alone.

I suggest that everyone who objects to be talked to with the tone you use, immediately and permanently stop communications with you.

Count the words, your book is longer than mine. I never met a rude camel. I agree but why do you keep starting conversations with me:confused: Somewhere in your user control panel is an IGNORE feature.

  6. One more post on this subject from me, to help educate dan and other pre-ops.

Remember what the surgeons say is "normal." It is "normal" to gain weight post-op from the mushy stage until 1, 2, 3, or 4 fills have provided restriction. Whatever weight is lost in the 2 week liquid diet is frequently regained (and then some). The first fill is usually 4-6 weeks post-op, with subsequent fills 4 weeks apart. It is also "normal" to lose 1-2 pounds a week with restriction.

So here's a scenario I'm making up based on what's perfectly normal, but which dan would label a failure:

    A LAP BAND STORY

    by dietpeach

"Amanda" was banded on New Year's 2008. In the 2 weeks post-op liquid diet she lost 10 pounds. She regained 6 pounds in the next 4 weeks before her first fill at 6 weeks post-op, making her 4 pounds below her surgery weight. By her second fill at 10 weeks post-op she had gained 4 pounds more, bringing her back to her surgery weight. In the next 4 weeks she didn't gain but didn't lose, and got a 3rd fill (14 weeks post-op).

At this point she started losing a half a pound a week for the next 4 weeks. At week 18 she had another fill, and she was 2 pounds below surgery weight. It was too tight, so they slightly unfilled her. She felt pretty good. She started losing 1.5 pounds a week at this point, from weeks 18 - 38, for a total loss of 30 pounds during this time, bringing her to 32 pounds below surgery weight.

At this point she starts to lose restriction because she lost some of the fat around her stomach, so that her band was no longer tight on her stomach. Over the next 4 weeks (bringing us to week 42) she regains 3 pounds. She calls to make an appointment for another fill. It takes 2 weeks (week 44) for them to get her in, and in those 2 weeks she gains another pound. she is now only 28 pounds below her surgery weight at week 44.

This fill does the trick again and she loses an average of 1.5 pounds a week (1-2 pounds) for the next 8 weeks, bringing us to week 52. Her total loss for the year is 40 pounds.

Dan would call her a failure, but he'd be wrong. She continues to lose an average of 1.5 pounds a week, with minor adjustments here and there, and over the next year she loses 78 pounds the second year after surgery, for a total loss of 118 pounds. But she isn't finished. The weight loss slows at this point because she is close to goal. She has changed her life, is exercising and eating right. Over the course of the third year she slowly loses the remaining 32 pounds for a total loss of 150 pounds.

Dan meets her in a bar but she's too hot to even notice him. Regretful, Dan goes and gets banded. Having waiting all these 3 years to get the band, and having done so much research for so many years, he thinks he's sure to succeed. But no! He doesn't stick to the band rules. He keeps eating ice cream, milk shakes, chips, chocolate, and soda. In the first year after surgery he loses only 5 ponds. What a failure!

He comes groveling to lapbandtalk and apologizes for being so judgmental. Everyone forgives him and supports him to help him get back on track and stick to the rules. One member in particular (Amanda) helps him the most, only he doesn't realize it's the hot chick from the bar. She supports him as he sheds the 100 pounds he needed to. They get very close online as she helps him, and they decide to meet in real life. When they finally get together it's love at first sight.

They get married and have twins, a boy and a girl they name Danny and Mandy. They are careful to raise the children with healthy eating habits. Both twins grow up to become lap band surgeons.

    The end. :rose:

    I love you already!

One problem though, what if I ever find out that you had previously rejected me in the bar? love conquers all? or the betrayal, oh the betrayal!:rose:

  7. Hi all,

I didn't intend to post on this subject again as it was intended to be cheeky only but it appears a nerve has been struck and it may in fact be a real subject for debate.

So........ on that note here is my nominee for future president of the I hate pre-banders club. Yes, I do realize she is also pre-band IN ADVANCE. It's only five or six posts so just a short Detour (I know some folks don't like to link away)

  8. Dan, This is not the response I am looking for. I know I am paying for this, even if I were going to go through my insurance, I pay for that, too. In fact, I pay in excess of 15,000.00 a year in insurance premiums, and I remind providers of that when necessary. My disposition is appropriately respectful toward these professionals, and I would expect the same of the clients I serve, as well. I've asked you not to correspond with me. I don't want your less than humble opinion. You are downright rude, and you would not be one of my clients....ever. If I talked to people the way you do, I'd be afraid to ask that same person to operate on me.

I have done my "research," (it would appear that we've developed a rather lose use of this term) and as such don't have a lot of questions to which I don't have the answers already. It is interesting that there is an assumption by someone who is not even banded that perhaps I haven't done my homework. I am a school teacher. That's what Maestra means, BTW.

Thanks, Forggin. I am interested in finding out if there are things that people wish they'd asked that they hadn't. I had written down that I'd like to ask why he chose to go into this area of specialization in order to get a better sense of his personality. That is important for me, too. I realize, too, that once I am under, it more the responsibility of the anesthesia doc than it is the primary surgeon as to whether or not I come back. I wish I could chat with her, too before the surgery day.

Oops, your request not to correspond with was not ignored, I simply didn't find it important enough to remember your name but now that I know what it means I could care even less. If I purposely answer all of your threads or send you private messages I suggest you report me to the moderators, until then however your threads aren't private property and if I have something to say I will say it. Further, I don't recall suggesting that you hadn't done your research, I provided a reasoned and thoughtful response to a person who it seems likes to perpetuate the god complex that many doctors seems to have and the 'my time is more important than yours' attitude that seems to exist. And finally, Foggin gave you essentially the same advice but you choose to blast me, who is rude now?

PS I don't recall requesting to be one of your "clients" and I submit that I'd move on to a different customer service rep or teacher of whatever you specialize in. Seems you've jumped the gun a bit too in your disdain for pre-banders but I guess you are in training to be queen of the post band snobs. Please feel free to ignore my threads and posts as you clearly have fixated on me, wish I could do the same but sorry, I'll forget your name as soon as I post this, sorry to hurt your feelings but again, I'm just not that in to you.
