  1. I was out driving around this evening passing a long strip of Fast food locations and could not help thinking what each one of them had that was band friendly enough for me to eat. I have always loved Burger King but I know I will never be ordering a Whopper with cheese Meal again. I now get my flame-broiled fix with a two pack of BK Shots.

What are some of you guys favorite go to spots?

  2. Hi there,

25 pounds does seem like an awful lot to have to gain. I understand though because at my first weigh in I was told that add atleast 5 pounds would not hurt in my attempt to get approved. So for me those little 5 pounds was nothing to add. A couple of slices of pizza here and a few cupcakes there and wala!! 5 easy pounds.

With adding 25 pounds I have to agree is that really worth it. You have to decide if you really want the band that bad. Mind you, I am very happy so far with it and I am only 3 weeks out.

  3. Hey there,

I have BCBS of GA PPO. My work was submitted on April 7 and I got my approval on April 16. It may have come a day or two earlier but that is when I called my insurance company. I had been calling every other day. I called the number on the back of the card I did not wait on the doctor to call me because once you get approved it takes them up to a week to get the response to your doctor. So my advise to you would be to call on Friday and then again on Tuesday or Wednesday and you should have an answer by then.

I had my surgery on 4/28 this was because I was suppose to start my pre-op diet which I never really did. I was just soooo hard to stay on it. By the way where are you getting banded at? Who is your doctor?

Let me know how things are coming along. And good luck!!

  4. I really must agree also about the clear liquids. I am 8 days post-op and I must say that even though you will get extremely tired of them you must hang in there. The pain doesn't last forever. I am still not totally pain free. Just make sure no matter what you stay hydrated even if you have to take a single sip of Water even 10-15 min or so. It will make you feel better. Then after a few days try to atleast get in 1/4-1/2 of a Protein shake in the mornings that will help with your inital energy.

I know you may think that you know what is best for your body cause I thought the same thing but you really should listen to some of the advise that others are giving you. We have gone through it. Your doctor may be the expert but nine times out of ten he or she has not personally experienced the band and they can never truely know what you are going through.

  5. I was banded april 27 and everything went well. I didn't have much gas pain until yesterday, my first day back at work. the pain in my left shoulder, collar bone and neck was almost unbearable. I work about an hour away from home so I had to drive like that. When I got home and took the pain meds, percocet, I was fine but it also knocks me right out. My doctors office said it can't be gas from the surgery because the surgery was a week ago. Did anyone else have gas this late after surgery. I am 7 days post op.

Last night the pain in my left shoulder got to be so bad I was in tears. So I went to the Post-Op section to see if anyone else had these issues and there is an entire section on Left Shoulder Pain. As it would apper this is a major side affect that we were not told about. Something about a nerve being aggrivated and for a lot of people it never ends. Not even with pain meds.

I got up this morning and called my doctors office at 8 am because I have a hard time sleeping with this pain. I had to leave a message and they have yet to call me back.

I researched the lapband for months before I got it and at no time did anyone tell me of the possibility of such a pain. It is unreal. I am very upset with my doctor for not mentioning it also. I can't wait to hear the explaination they have.

  6. Hey I was banded also on the 28th. I had major gas pains the first two days and diarreah is leveling off. I too have the neck and shoulder pain. The other problem I am having is the ability to burp. I called the Dr and they told me to sip on a Sprite but that did not do it for me. I am still taking Gas-x just to give myself some relief but I would kill to burp right now. Any body got any ideas?

As far as eating, I struggle to get all my liquids in because I am just not hungary.

My diet has consisted of Soup broth, sf pudding, sf popsicles, crystal light, and Protein shakes.

I hope everyone else is hanging in there....I hear tell that things get better.

  7. Well I was banded on April 28. The surgery went well. They had a few problems trying to find my vein for the IV so I think that was the most painful part of the entire surgery. Surgery started at aobut 11:30 and I was back in the car on the way home at 3:30.

I had a lot of gas in my chest and shoulder I think on the port side. Also had the usual soreness at the insicions. DH is being great. Letting me rest and watching our 2 year old. I am taking Tylenol Extra Strength liquid and I guess it is working pretty well. The only thing I have eaten is about a cup of Jello and drink part of a Crystal Light. I am really not hungary but I know I have to have something in my stomach to take the meds.

Thanks for all the support. I am really looking forward to my new life and celebrating my new birthday every year.

  8. Is there anyone here from GA that can shed a little light for me and tell me how long BCBS of GA usually takes to give a response? I am on pins and needles waiting to hear something. Also, does anyone know if BCBS of GA cover fills? I am going through True Results with Dr.Hart.

    Anything would be helpful.
