    10/26/2010 My Band Birthday

Mushies are going well. I'm still emotional lol Ive also been having my TOM since before the surgery so Im gonna blame it on that. but really things are getting better I guess. im learning to cook in smaller quanities since it is only my daughter and myself at home and the freezeris getting full. my bf has also been a great source of support even though he is out of state. well he tries anyway lol. after you are able to eat more substantial food u start feeling a little better each day.

    Yeah.. I ate Doritos

for mushies...cream of wheat with sf syrup, ricotta cheese with spag sauce and a meatball (I made them super soft) I also have been eating a lot of ground turkey-yesterday i made taco meat with ground turkey and put it over some black beans with some cheese..super good. over cooked veggies with parm. scrambled egg with turkey sausage crumbles. I also made chicken soup but with less liquid and a cream soup and added veggies and cut the chicken reallllly small, almost like the inside of a pot pie....that was good too.

    10/26/2010 My Band Birthday

I was an emotional mess. I still kinda am. Im also going through some rough stuff personally. I have a close friend who was banded a week before me and she has also ben a little more emotional. I think its a combination of weight loss, hormone changes, and grief. We can do it. We can also cry if we need to and not be ashamed. so if you feel like crying do it!

Are heavy people looked at differently

as a girl who works in healthcare and sales i can tell you that heavier ppl are looked at differently. on top of it im lond so i already have two strikes against me. I actually lost a job because i wasnt healthy enough. the company wanted to present a healthy image sine it was healthcare after all. im just hoping to have the last laugh. i am very good at what i do and my weight has nothing to do with it. i do think that skinny attractive people get paid more get advanced more etc. there are studies to prove it, just google it. hopefully we will all be the skinny minnies soon and all get nice big fat raises lol best of luck!
  6. Congrats on your weight loss! I think its fantastic! I am losing very slowly so far so I think that its great that you are having such quick loss! I hope that It will contnue for you! whatever you are doing is working for you! i was banded 10/12 and havent lost an ounce in the last two weeks. Most of what I lost after surgery I think was fluid and most of my weight loss was before surgery. I hope that it wont slow down for you, some arelucky like that! Good luck to you!

    So far not so good

Try maybe ice chips or a popcicle, to help the swelling go down. YOU CAN DO THIS!!! It took me a while to start feeling human again but it will happen. YOU will do great!!! Keep on trucking!!! Everyday it gets better!

  10. So i am now 19 days post op. in my mushies stage. I am not currently working so I am home all day. When I wake up I can not eat, dont even want to at all. so I drink a protien shake. then I am hungry at about 1 or 2 so i will eat 1/2 to 3/4 cup of whatever mush protien. then i will eat again around 6 or 7. then around 9pm my stomach growls and feels so empty I am starving! I feel hungry, its not just head hunger, its a little soon to eat again but really i am hungry!!! So every night nw i have been eating cream of wheat with sf syrup to sweeten it, made with milk and i also add beneprotien to up the protien content. it helps but i am still hungry after that. I try waiting an hour and then drinking fluids to help, which it doesnt really. I am also not losing any weight despite not going over 900 calories. I am getting the right amount pf protien and working on the fluids right now im at like 60. Am i doing something wrong, am i hurting myself by eating at night? if i dont eat i cant sleep because i am hungry. I am not losing at all, and i am exercising 3-4 times a week since i was released to do ....ack! HeLP!

    Itchy incisions

try lanacane or another type of anti itch cream! the lanacane has a numbing agent in it, ive been using it on mine, works pretty good.
  14. Fluffy_Gurl

    Approved and occupied

Sometimes the sugar free drinks cab cause the bathroom issue or sf popcicles ...try drinking a lil of something else to see if it helps............you CAN do this!!! I think that preop diet was the worst!!!!

    Sugar free candy

so i have been sucking on suger free hard candies to help with my craving for sweets after meals. im not sure if it helps or not really, it may be just continuing the cycle for the craving..my biggest question is...is eating sugar free candy ok or will it affect my weight loss. i probably have 3-5 a day, depending on the hard candy i have the serving size is different for a few of them but i never have more than 30 calories which i add into my count....what do you think? do you eat sf candy?
  16. i was banded on the 12th. I can gulp water and drink a glass at a time. I am trying to be very careful about when i eat but not so great with the liquids. i am also not very good about drinking as much fluids as i should. as far as i know there is no fluid in my band. i still feel some restriction from the swelling but it has been slowly going away. i am worried that maybe i am no doing something quite right or i may damage or slip my band...help please!
  17. I know this is crazy but I weigh multiple times a day. i even keep my scale in the entry way into my kitchen. Stepping over the scale to get to the fridge helps me. this has been a habit for me even before the band when i was losing weight. It helps me keep myself in check, especially now. I know that even when the scale moves throughout the day its bceause of normal stuff. It reminds me that I have a goal. It also helps me with..Am I really hungry?

Hello! Newby Here! Surgery was 10/12/10.

I was also banded on the 12th! YAY us! :smile2: Welcome, I've been on this site for a while now, ITS GREAT!!! Here's to a new us!
  19. my doc required I be smoke free for two months prior to surgery. I quit cold turkey the day I walked out of the office on my first surgical consult. It was really hard but well worth it. I couldnt have quit any other way. Good Luck!
  20. So I am 13 days post op..I have been following the diet to a T...liqiuds etc. Right now I am consuming between 800-900 calories a day. I had been losing..now all of the sudden I'm gaining weight. I'm drinking my Water, taking my supplements, tracking my protien consumption...which is around 50 most days at this point. So what am I doing wrong??? Who the hell gains weight eating a half a cup of puree 3xday and a protien shake?
  21. So i was banded on 10/12. The first week was awful, i was in pain! could barely move etc. This is my second week, I am still sore and have no energy. I am sleeping like 14 hours a day. Since surgery Ive gotten my days and nights mixed up. I lie awake all night, fall asleep around 5 am, wake up with my daughter at 6 am until 7 when she goes to school and then sleep again until 4 when she gets home from school. a few days after surgery, i started feeling this burning painful sensation about two inches below my port site. seriously painful, almost dropped me to my knees when i walked. My doc said it was prolly just irritation. i had my doubts then. now i still have pain in that area but not in my incisions. otherwise im feeling pretty good as far as that is concerned. still no energy tho. Is this normal??? to be so tired this many days post op??? To not be able to sleep at night??? Shouldnt I be back to normal???

    October 2010 Bandsters!!

Well my surgery went well! I am now 2 weeks post op. Ive lost and then gained and then lost and then gained. I now had my daughter hide the scale and told her she was not allowed to tell me where for at least a week. I have struggled some, have had awful pain-mostly because i didnt "want" to have to take pains meds- stupid...[please take ur meds!] Through it all, I have no regrets! Im ready to get the show on the road! Good luck to those of you still waiting for your surgeries this month! You will do amazing! The surgery is a breeze! And all the liquids will be worth it in the end!!!!

    Scheduled massage

That is a great reward! Congratulations!!!! Hope you get lots of frequent massages!!!
  25. You should tell who you want to tell. This is a personal decision. I presonally have only told family and two friends...not exactally close friends but they also have the band and are a good source of support. I personally didnt tell anyone at work and only told extended family because I had to (they were visiting from out of town the week I had my surgery) You will probably be suprised at what your mom will say. Mine was worried but once i showed her info, this site, and a few videos on youtube she felt alot more comfortable. Good Luck with our journey!!! This site is an amazing source of support and knowledge!!!
