    September Bandster Check-in

way to go JWRN!!!! I had my fill appointment today, but they thought Iwas still pretty tight so they thought to give another month or so and let me decide. but this month even though I struggled a bit - it was really tight this month - they felt I made good nutritional choices and I lost 12 pounds since my last visit last month. so far this a record month for me. I am so stoked about it too. 9 more to go and I'm below that 200 mark... I can't believe it finally!!! I haven't seen 199 since I was probably 22.... YEAH ME!!!! and yeah to all of you and your successes!!!!

    Fast food!

thanks for the suggestion of wendy's chilli, tried it last week and it was awesome!
  5. I know it took a good couple of weeks after my last fill before I didn't feel all gassy and gaggy. protein shakes helped me get through it, warm tea in the morning and maybe warm broth for lunch and then I was able to eat solid food for supper. seems like after my last fill my stomach and esophogus was irritated, it took some time to get use to it and laying off solid food for a day made a big difference. I notice too that if I don't get enough fluids one day the next day I pay for it, I'm very tight the next day if I haven't had enough to drink the day before and then I get all burpy again until i loosen up again.

    September Bandster Check-in

I just got a call from my son, he and his girlfriend just got engaged...I imagine it will be 6mos to a year by the time they have the wedding and I can't stop wondering how much I will have lost by then. I hate being selfish like this but when my daughter got married about 5 years ago I could have died when I saw how big I was in her wedding pictures. Yes, I'm excited for my son but I'm sure you all understand.... I won't be the frumpy mom of the groom!!!!
  7. funny that I run into this thread a little over a week before my scheduled vacation. I'm due for an appointment on Monday but think that I will pass up on a fill, I've contemplated having a slight unfill but mostly because it took most of the month to be able to eat period. maybe, they will tell me I'm not due for a fill anyway. I had a fill last month and it seemed to irritate me on up to my throaght, like i've said this week is the first week that I've actually felt not scared to take a bite of food. I'm at 4.5 cc in a 10cc band. banded in sept and have a twisted port so unfills aren't so easy for me, they can fill but have problems retrieving fluid after it's put in. everybody talks about a sweet spot and i'm still not sure what exactly that feels like or if i have reached that point, i'm still learning as i go, I do know I now feel satisfied after eating but i have to concentrate and be very careful when swallowing because it can be kind of uncomfortable when i eat. eating is not a pleasure at all anymore and frankly that is ok with me. your question is very valid and I imagine it's crossed everybodies minds now and then. bon voyage and have fun!!!
  8. Amen, it's annoying and some days aren't as bad, it's worth it!!
  9. I have troubles keeping track of the calories, I do a daily journal of my food and wonder sometimes if i'm doing right, I'm going to show the nutritionist it and get her thoughts on my next appt. I've been having trouble with tightness in my throaght feeling lately and wonder if I need a tad taken out. anyway. for breakfast usually oatmeal. lunch an atkins protein shake or lean cuisine and supper a lean cuisine or a few bites of meat, bake potatoe and something green. and it is a struggle for me to eat solid foods no matter how much I chew... but I'm trying very hard to get the protein in.. can someone tell me if this sample day menue seems like I'm getting the appropriate calorie intake? and what is your opinion on the lean cuisine as a meal, they seem to be higher in carbs but that seems to be all I can eat without having to gag. oh and a side note, seems my weight loss is on average 1 lb a week, that seems low to me. I was banded Sept 19, 09

    September Bandster Check-in

I'm so glad I came across this thread. I too had my banding in September, I had to cancel my second fill appointment in December so didn't have my second fill until after the new year. so December with the holidays and all I didn't do as well with the weight loss. I was getting a little frustrated with how slow my loss was, but think i've pin pointed it to too many carbs in some of the lean cuisine meals that I have been living on... i've cut back on that and really trying to focus on more protein. but it's hard to get the protein in. but each day brings new challenges and i'm starting to see results. right now it's trying on clothes. i finally had to break down and buy a few and dig in my closet, the baggy look was starting to get sloppy. this is the first time i'm looking forward to shopping for a summer wardrobe, I can't wait to see how much I lose by then.

    flipped port/twisted port

I was told mine is just a little twisted or possibly a kink in the tube leading from the port, my first fill the nurse had a time getting the needle to go in port but all was fine and was even able to extract to see how much fluid it held. second fill she found the port ok, could put fluid in but couldn't extract any, she had the surgeon then come in to talk to me. he wasn't overly concerned. he explained it was like a garden hose sometimes gets a twist in it and can work it's way out the more fills i get and the pressure from fills could straighten it or just repositioning after weight loss. he said when i get fills they will only put in smaller amounts each fill since it may be more difficult for me to get an unfill. my surgery was in september and the spot where my port is has just now lost that bruised sensation. my only regret is that I didn't have the surgery years ago. I feel better than I have in years!
  13. I'm new to this and don't know hardly where to begin, whatever friendly advice comes my way will be greatly appreciated

  15. burp and girgle girgle girgle, a lady I work with also had lap band surgery and she came to my desk one day jokingly said "just came by to see if you could burp the alphabet yet"
  16. new to this and would like to hear how others are getting along, starting weight 252 post surgery 248 and today at 218. sometimes I get a little impatient with the speed of the loss but at least I do see it going down and my goal is 160.
