  1. Just something I wanted to share with you guys.

I'm close to my 1 year mark which will be November 18th. I went to a local grocery store tonight after not seeing a scale in some time. To my amazement I have lost 75 lb (+/- 3 lb for accuracy). I'm a male, 21yo with my HW at 350, now I'm 275. I go to my doctor on the 25th of November I would have hopefully lost another 15lb by then. I wish I could have lost more sooner and I constantly beat up on myself for it. I think I need to start giving myself more credit :smile2: I think we all do.

  2. Well, I'm officially a failure. I just got back in town from the holidays and I have a net gain for 2 lbs :smile2:

Holidays are the death of me!

losing weight over the holidays if very hard! I kept in mind that I need to lose weight but over winter break I only lost a whopping 3-4 pounds! I am disappointed but I'm not going to let that hold me back. Lets set a longer goal for 50lb before summer.

  3. I just got my second fill today. I'm kinda bummed I only lost 4 pounds in the past 3 weeks but my surgeon assured me that what is not in pounds most likely is in inches. To add to my frustration my surgeon knows that I work out everyday because he happens to go to my gym and when he sees me he smiles and says keep it up. I'm staying active, I do 30-45 min cardiovascular workout at the gym or home every day. I just want to be under 300 already, I feel like I'm working hard enough. Any tips on what else I should be doing. I eat a lot of Protein throughout the day and barely no carbohydrates. I also drink a lot of low calorie to no calorie fluids throughout the day. My surgeon said just keep doing what I'm doing but I need more advice. I hate to pull this one out but aren't the guys supposed to have an easier time than the women at losing weight :smile2:

  4. I had my first fill yesterday. The PA had to do some probing of the needle to find the port as i'm still quite swollen - but no pain thankfully. The surgeon ended up having to be called in and to no surprise he got it on the first try lol. Well, my first fill experience wasn't all that pleasant and I woke up this morning around 7 with a bit of Constipation. I don't think there is a correlation but I'm still going to call in later. I'm down 25 lb. My mom and dad noticed but I still haven't. It's hard to imagine I weigh less than I did 1yr 1/2 ago already.

  5. it seems IMPOSSIBLE to get the liquids in... i feel sooo bloated and full. but i just start sipping as soon as i wake up and sip all day until i go to bed. i'm not hungry at all, but im trying. my first fill won't be until january. 6-8 weeks post surgery

I know I have a hard time getting liquids in too! I just woke up and I'm sipping Water right now. I'm back on full liquids till dec. 2 then I can start mushies.

  6. hey guys im back and everything is good. My mom is a nurse and she is taking really good care of me and all my demanding lol. I have been resting a lot. My port area is a tad swollen and the pain was a 7/10, but when I took my liquid 2 teaspoons of pain killer it went down to about a 4. My mom said it's a narcotic so do not overdue it but c'mon lol. I am having a hard time falling asleep in bed so i've been in and out of sleep but I don't feel very tired. I fell asleep easier on the couch. I've been savoring Peach Ocean Spray juice mixes so refreshing you guys have no idea how thirsty I was post op. My father went to buy some chicken broth for me but is having a bit of a hard time because all the thanksgiving shoppers lol. He is running to another store now to look for it. My surgeon was great, he even let me mom see me as soon as I was out and man waking up from the anesthesia really had me tripping lol. It went well and I'm glad you guys were there for me thanks a lot! I haven't had a chance to weigh myself I look forward to updating my ticker since the 11th of November.

    Love you all, later bandsters.

  8. I know! Do you have all ur stuff together?

yeah, everything is fine just my pcp decided to send the clearance at the last minute for giggles I guess. I have a morning surgery but I just don't know the time. I will get the check in time tomorrow morning I'm pretty anxious. Hope all goes well. As soon as I'm out I'll report here to let everyone know I'm alive and well.

  9. I cheated just a little. I had half of a home made steak fry. I just couldn't finish it, I took a bite and I threw the other half to the dog. I was around company who decided to grill steak and make steak fries while I ate vegetable puree Soup. I wasn't strong enough, but I'm happy to say that I started the diet a full 2 days early. I have 2 full days of this diet left before surgery on Wednesday morning.

  10. guys the ketosis is a good thing it means you're burning lots a fat which we want. The only bad thing is that the acetone is released in your saliva which makes it smell bad. My partner complained about it and now I carry orbit gum in my pocket. I've been doing a lot of walking around my campus but haven't been sweating a whole lot. I guess it's because I haven't been staying as hydrated as I should.

  11. It is true that some people are rude . . . but sometimes they don't even realize it. If she is from a different country, perhaps it is not considered so bad to joke around about it.

I have a good friend from another country that said "oh I remember you were so fat before" . . . I was horrifically embarrassed at that moment, but I know she never meant it in a way that was insulting, I think it was actually her way of complimenting me.

Try not to take things too personally regardless of where it comes from or how it is intended . . . you are you and no-one can judge you.

You can also tell someone who makes that social faux pas that you don't appreciate those kinds of comments. Usually that nips it in the bud unles they were intending to be hurtful.

no don't take offense to it she didn't mean any harm. My partners mother is from another country and she sometimes says things to me that make me feel a bit embarrassed but she doesn't mean any harm. Also her mastery of English is Intermediate. Your friend I'm sure loves you and was just saying what she thought you were comfortable with hearing.

For example she was cooking for me before my pre-op diet and my partners mother said at the table "take a mental picture because you're not going to eat this again until you're muscle man." I was like "uhh, gee thanks." But we laughed about it and moved on.

  12. the rule is eat your Proteins first then your vegetables and then your starches/carbohydrates. Don't mix anything together.

Start off with your meats, if you're full stop. Puree your meats.

Continue on to vegetables, if you're full stop.

Finally move on to carbs, when you're full stop.

You should actually never get to the carb stage if you balance your plate out with enough Protein. Sure, when you reach your goal you may get there but since you're just starting the puree stage stick with the hydrated meats and vegetables.

Don't drink while you eat. Drink 20 min after a meal. and don't drink 30 min before your next meal.

  13. same here and my weight has affected my personality. I plan on going to therapy after my surgery because I know I'll never feel the way I should if I don't. It hasn't been a huge character flaw but I tend to restrict myself a lot because of my weight and it kinda has affected my relationship. So therapy is my answer for you. I already scheduled one for me 1 week post op. It's great and once you begin talking you'll feel so much better.

  14. I was banded November 3rd, and I think I am doing very well.

The first two days were not the best, my back hurt from laying around so much.

Every day has gotten better and I feel pretty good now. I just have a little tightness and pain in the area but I am able to get around just fine.

I work from home, so I work a few hours and rest. I am walking and climbing stairs and everything.

My incisions are doing great, the "superglue" has held on all of them except the one in my bra area. I just slapped a bandaid on that one.

I think my surgeon must have done a very good job with pushing the gas out of me, because I did not have any of the gas pains in my arms, neck, whatever.

I was lost 8.5 lbs post-surgery, and I have stuck totally to the 2 oz of yogurt, applesauce, cream of wheat. I have not been hungry one time.

Can anyone tell me how to get that ticker?

Here you go! Just follow the directions and you will have your ticker in no time. First choose your ticker and continue from there.
