  1. Great work Knewme, I was banded on the 2nd April and I get what you mean - visualising the little pouch etc.

I have not been hungry either except a little yesterday. Although I have had icecream which I never have and it was sooooooo good that i had to have another bowl. Hard that you don't get the FULL feeling on liquids - just the constant "im not very hungry" feeling. Can't wait to have both!!! Icecream going down the drain as cannot have that temptation! I tried to eat the tiniest bit of cake (like as long as your thumb) and chewed bites off it as big as little fingernail, and thought i'd be sweet but BOY will I not cheat again! bloated indigestion freakout central!!! I was all concerned I'd buggered it up well and truly! liquid liquid liquid for me until they say so! Have my first post op appt this afternoon at 4.30, so will see how well I have done. I think I will only be down about 1-2kilos (2-5lb) as I have weighed on my scales. A little disappointed but HELLO!!! ITS ONLY BEEN A WEEK!!! Will let ya'll know how I get on. Off shopping this afternoon... fun times!! Knewme - how on EARTH are you walking 3miles - I am so exhausted after DRIVING 3miles!!

  2. I hope for:

    - A hot husband!

    - The ability to get pregnant - so long Polycystic Ovaries!

    - Not to die of a heart attack at 40 like both my parents!

    - To feel sexy and confident and for my weight not to be the BIGGEST thing about me, the preceeds all other things and defines me to everyone (including myself). I want to be the "pretty loud girl" rather than the "fat loud girl" or even just the "loud girl" would do me fine!

    - I want to RUN!!!!!!!

  3. I feel full i had a cup of mixed veggies and a slim fast and full i have 7 more days of this i still didnt drop a lb i might start running so i can lose some lbs

That will make you even hungrier I fear! That, or make you faint!!

  4. Here is a perfect explaination of Ketosis:

Lowcarbezine!: What the heck is ketosis? And how important is it to my low carb diet?

The Atkins diet is all about it, but that part is irrelevant - the reason they want us to do low carb/low cal pre-op diet is to use all the liver fat up to make surgery safer.

So if you gotta cheat, cheat with veges because they don't have any carbs or calories! They laughed at me at the doc office when I said I am sorry I cheated, I had more than a cup of veges at night. They cracked up!

  5. I'm so excited to hear all this positive feedback and to know I'm not doing this alone. My surgery is scheduled on April 14th and I'm a nervous but happy wreck. I wish the best to all that are recovering!

If only I knew then what I know now, I wouldn't have been nervous at all!!!!

It was a walk in the park!!! You will be fine for the surgery, and fine after the surgery and then you get to be healthy FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wish I had done this when i was 20!! woe woe woe is me!

  6. Hi, This is my 1st post on Bunny Bandsters and 2nd post in all. My band date is April 27th. Yay!

I have a question: Does anyone know how soon we can exercise after surgery? I have a party scheduled 4 days after. It's a Sock Hop with dancing, etc...

    I'm glad to be here!

Congrats on your band date! I would consider VERY slow walking after a week, and maybe cardio after two weeks, I would definitely NOT jump around four days post op! You will be very sore!!!! :(

  7. Sissy, how was your first day back to work? I am hoping to be out no more than 2-3 workdays and a weekend.

I could be back at work now I'd say but I have 2 weeks off.

I had my op on thursday morning, friday off, sat and sunday off, could have gone back monday with a bit of pain but emotionally I would have struggled I think to get my head around the food adjustment. Better to have more time off I think.

  8. Yeaaaaaaaaa i got my date after one year of fighting Aetna/ I am scheduled for April23th,could do it sooner as well but i have to complete work tasks before i got in , after years of low self esteem and no sense of worth, i am going to finally live my life to the fullest. Thanks God.

YEEHAAA GOAL150! Congrats!!! Onwards and DOWNwards!!:(

  9. Well I am not a chef by any means! But I will share anyway!

    I roasted two free-range chickens

Boiled up sweet potato, pumpkin, spinach and carrots.

Made a very very watery gravy

Blended it all up together and frozen in little 300ml containers. Tastes like I am having a roast meal! YUMMM

  10. Overall I feel good. Just dont think I am "eating" enough....Help!

    D:crying:

Um!! Don't know!!! I am seeing my Doc tomorrow afternoon so I will ask him what I am supposed to be eating. I am kind of enjoying the fact that I don't have to eat. ahha. probably a bad approach!! but every pound down helps! ha ha.

  11. Well how interesting this band is...

I am just not hungry at all. Thought I *might* have been today, but it was actually just empty pains. What I have realised though is that I can eat whatever I want so long as it's liquid and I won't get BLOATED and full, it will just go through and I am left with the same "not hungry" feeling. So I have to be a little cautious to stick to only healthy liquids as every day since my op I have had a small bowl of Movenpick icecream and I am feeling guilty!!!

    Today I ate:

    - Up and Go (1 cup of Protein shake type thing)

    - 1 cup of chocolate low fat milk

    - 1 cup orange juice

    - 2/3 cup of pureed veges and chicken

    - 1 cup icecream

I am having a lot of trouble keeping my Water intake up... boooo... only cos I am lazy

What are you guys eating day four post op? :smile2:

  12. Wow, i was going to post and ask what it costs - but I guess self pay in Mexico about $10K US. What does it cost to have it done in the US if it's not under insurance? What are these advertisements on the side of this page saying $6000 band, and $11,000 bypass? I am too scared to click!

In NZ, we have public funded healthcare, but many of us have elective medical insurance to cover procedures in private hospitals or if we don't want to stay on a waiting list. This surgery is not covered by public system, nor is it completely covered by private insurance. I have an insurance policy who make a one off ex gratia payment of $4,500 towards the banding so long as I met the criteria which I did. However, the rest of the bill needed to be footed by myself. The total cost before I get my $4,500 back was $16,200 NZD. Which is a LOT of coin!!!:smile2:

  13. I told the snoopy folks at work that I was off getting "female surgery" and the one guy who wanted to know more was told that I am getting my tubes tied. I have to eat out a lot with my clients and bosses (I'm in sales) so I'm somewhat stressed about that and what to say.

My family and some close friends know. Some are supportive..and some are not. I'm finding that the fat friends are not as supportive! Huh.

Same here moonbeam, I told my boss I was having girly stuff done, and same as one other chick at work. Our company are BIG Drinkers and very social, so I am going to have a tough time, especially since my alcohol tolerance will be RUBBISH after this! I think we can get away with "smaller portions" or ordering the Soup so we can at least eat most of it!! if we do it under the guise of "being healthy, trying to eat 6 portions a day, and I am saying I have a personal trainer who works me to the core every morning before work - they'll never know!! muhuhuhahahahha!!:smile2:

  14. Don't cheat guys, you make it 10000 times harder for yourselves! After day four or five the ketones start to break down and suppress hunger, every time you cheat you have to do those five days again, its torture!

Eat everything they tell you to eat and if you have to cheat have non root vegetables, carrot, celery, tomatoes, cucumber, lettuce. I totally ate more than my fair share of salad and veges, and my Protein shakes. Stick at it, it is ONLY TWO WEEKS OF YOUR LIFE YOU CAN DO IT!!!!

  15. Took my dressings off today - and replaced them with new ones. Ugh!!! The biggest cut is about 2 inches long!! I am sure they heal up really well though, I just disinfected them and put new dressings on - I think that if they are kept clean and dry there is less chance of scarring. When there is no seepage I will use Biooil. Should be sweet tho! I am impressed that there was no stitches!

  16. Swiss, it might be the iodine from when they sanitise you and its trapped under the dressing. Otherwise yellow is a normal bruise stage - so long as they are not big and red it is fine.

Mine are itching like crazy - they must be healing - but I will ring and check that it is okay today! ha ha.

MommaD - RELAX!!! you are as bad as me. I am day 5 today and on day 3 I went supermarket shopping - and goodness me - did I regret it! As boring as it is - sit on the couch and watch TV, Water the potplants outside, make yourself a cup of tea, watch more TV.... it will pay off!

  17. You know what, this is something that gets my goat about people. Everyone's a bl00dy expert. The thin people don't understand why you'd want to "RESORT to such measures" and the people that are bigger than you are jealous and wish they could have it done - OR are justifying their weight by saying that it is so drastic.

All of these comments are about THEM and their own baggage, not you. You are doing what is right for you in your own heart - and I salute that - and if they were real friends then they would too!

    Stay strong!! xx

  18. Yeah I can't cancel dinner we have it every Saturday

Well cheating is not an option - or you may miss out on surgery!

    a) tell the truth

:welldoneclap: tell him you are on a diet

    c) tell him you are not feeling well, go anyway and don't eat

    d) tell him you are not feeling well and cannot make it.

    e) tell him you have to catch up with someone else earlier for dinner and you cannot get out of it but you will come round for coffee later

  19. I wouldnt stress too much about what you are taking to the hospital. I packed WAY too much!!

    What I did use was

    - toothbrush

    - facecloth

    - facewash/toner mist to freshen up.

    - warm socks

    - laptop/ipod to watch movies/listen to music

    - flipflops so you dont have to bend over to put shoes on when you leave

    - cellphone and charger.
