  1. I just couldn't believe my eyes this morning. I am three lbs heavier than yesterday. I am 2 weeks fours days post op. I lost 16 lbs in my 2 weeks liquid diet pre-op and 8 lbs on the 2 weeks liquid diet post-op. The scale still showed that I lost total 24 lbs yesterday. And this morning, oh boy, I was suddenly 3 lbs up. What could I have done? I have not been cheating on food. I started soft food this week; basically my Breakfast is a hard boiled egg and 1/4 cup of fat free cottage cheese w/h pineapple. lunch is 2-3 OZ of fish, 2 oz of well-cooked vege, and 2 oz of tofu. I usually ate three popsicles in between the meals as Snacks. Is this too much to eat? Yesterday besides all the usual stuff I ate half more egg in the morning, had maybe 5 sugar free popsicles instead of 3 and drank 1/4 cup light soymilk. Maybe it was the additional half egg, 2 popsicles and 1/4 cup of light soymilk that did it? But according to the calorie counter, I am still eating below 1000 calories. I am so discouraged this morning, just couldn't believe my eyes. I mean I was already frustrated that I am not losing weight. Now that I even gained! Did this ever happen to someone else? How long did it take you to lose the extra pounds and some more?

  2. Hi, thank you both for your kind response. Probably I was eating too much and too fast. Old habits are hard to die. :tt1: It just comparing to how much I used to eat before the surgery, the amount of food I eat now does not look that much. For breakfast, I have one hard boiled egg and about 1/4 cup of fat free cottage cheese. I usually have a sugar free popsicle two hours later as snack. For both lunch and dinner, I would have around 3 oz of fish, 2 oz of tofu and maybe 1 or 2 oz of well cooked vege. I also have one popsicle after lunch and one after dinner. I guess maybe I am still eating too much. I'll cut down the amount. I was eating really slowly the first day and it look me one and half hour to finish my dinner. I chewed 50 times each bite. My Mom said that I was overdoing it. I speeded up a little yesterday. I'll make sure again to chew each bit of food 30 times. As for lifting the heavy thing, it was my Dad's briefcase. His briefcase has some weight, then he also put two lunch boxes with food in it. I didn't think it would weigh that much before I lifted it. I'll be more careful from now on. Thanks again to everyone.

  3. Hi, I was banded on 03/09/2009. So I am now 2 weeks and 3 days post op. Starting from this week, I began to eat soft food - including fish, eggs, fat free cottage cheese, well-cooked non-stringy vege and tofu. I haven't had a fill yet so I don't know where my port is. I could not feel it on my left side as well. I have a realize band. Sometimes I feel the muscle being pulled and tightened to the left of my bellybutton. I have a big incision right above my bellybutton, but the soreness did not come from the incision site. Last night after dinner that area (under the left breast to the left of the bellybutton) felt sore again. Could this area be where my port was placed? Is it normal to have this kind of soreness? This morning when I lifted up something a little heavy, I felt soreness in that area again, once I put the thing down, the soreness disappears. After I sat down in my office cube and starting to eat my Breakfast - hard boiled egg and some cottage cheese, my stomach felt uncomfortable. It actually felt sore on my left side. I don't know if this means I was eating too fast or eating too much. I hope I didn't do anything wrong to cause any problems. Has anyone here also experienced this before? Thanks.

  4. Thanks for the response. This morning I left something a little heavy, probably 9 lbs, the site to my left bellybuttom sores again. Once I put the thing down, the soreness disappears. However, after I got to office and sat down to eat my Breakfast, one hard boilded egg and 1/4 cup of fat free cottage cheese, my stomac (area under my left breast) sores again. Does this mean I am eating too much or maybe I was eating too fast?

  5. Thanks for the compliment. Yes, I did lose it quick but it was not always easy! I struggled with "banster hell" at the beginning but once I was restricted, the weight melted off. My whole mindset towards food seemed to change with restriction and I have never been so healthy and happy.

You are doing great so far! Best of luck to everyone!

Thanks for such quick response. I am only losing like 1 lb each week since last week, even though I was still on liquid diet last week. That really frustrated me coz I was so hungry all the time, yet I ate nothing but was not losing weight. I am glad to hear that after reaching a good restriction, the weight would start to melt off. Do you exercise everyday and a lot? I am only walking (slow walking) about 25 minutes each day coz I still feel the soreness to my left of bellybutton sometimes. I wonder if that is where my port is.

  7. Congradulations!

I, too, have lost over 100 lbs. I was banded 8 months 14 days ago. Isn't it a great feeling, almost hard to believe. I never thought I could be in a size 12! Even in my teenage years, the smallest I ever was was a 14.

    I LOVE MY BAND!!!!!!

WOW. You both did an amazing job. How did you do it? To lose 108 lbs in just 8.5 months?

  8. I was banded 2/23 and I'm doing GREAT. At first there were some problems, but I'm down 27.5 pounds as of this morning. And I don't feel like I'm missing anything. I can eat almost anything without it getting stuck. (I did have a problems with a breakfast quesadilla one morning). But otherwise, I'm really happy. My pants are starting to fall off of me and I look better, which is encouraging.

And I go for my first fill on April 3rd. Wish me luck!

    Hi CRC,

So you've lost 17 lbs since the surgery. How did you do it? Are you exercising? I haven't started exercising yet (I feel my strength has not come back yet). Are you still on softfood or you are on regular food now? How much calories are you consuming each day? I lost 16 lbs on the liquid diet pre-op, then lost 6 lbs in the first week post op, however, I only lost 1 lb in the 2nd week post op even though I was still on liquid diet on that week. Currently I am on soft food.

  9. I am day 14 post-op. My doctor said that I could started on softfood (fish, tofu, well-cooked non-stringy vege, fat free cottage cheese, eggs). Here is my diet.

    Breakfast: 1 hard boiled egg

    Snack: sugar free popsicle

    Lunch: 1.5 oz fish

    half cup of lotus root

    a few pieces tofu

    Snack: sugar free popsicle

    Dinner: 1.75 oz fish

    half cup of vege

    a few pieces of tofu

I chew really well. Finally I am rid of the Protein Shakes now.

  10. I've also been having diarrhea everyday this week. I am week two post-op. The weird thing is that I didn't have any diarrhea problem this first week. I sometimes have to go to the bathroom 7-8 times a day. I also took some Imodium, it helped out somewhat not completely though. The thing that most disappoints me is that even though I am still on liquid this week and diarrhea pretty much made everything flushed my body, I didn't lose one pound this week. I am really hungry for real food. My doctor told me to stay on liquid diet the first two weeks. Liquids include broth, popsicles, Protein Shake, skim milk and sugar free Jell-O. I can’t wait to start on soft food next week. The only soft food I am allowed are fish, eggs, low fat cheese, cooked really well non-stringy vegetables and tofu. I am starving for the real food. I think I am going to start soft food this Sunday.

  11. Thank you for the response. Are you happy with the decision? I see you just had the surgery done, how has it been so far? I am hoping to be scheduled for a late April/ early May surgery date.

I've only been with the band for a week. It's too early to tell if I'm happy with it or not. After the surgery, I've had a lots of gas pain. Nonetheless, almost everyone after the surgery had some gas pain. Today I felt my hunger for real food had kicked back in. I was hoping it would not come back for a while since I still have to stay on liquid diet next week.

  12. hey dont let anyone knock you down, you have done awesome, you have lost not gained & you are doing what the band is supose to be doing, the reason the other people are prob like that towards you is because they dont know exactly how the band is supose to work?

    Hi Debbie,

I noticed that without any fill to your band, in just two months, you've lost 54 pounds. How did you do that? I've done my surgery for a week. I only lost 6 pounds in this week. I have only been drinking Protein shakes and fat free milk, eating popsicles this week. I don't why I am not losing more like other people do.

  13. Kerrie, I think you've done a pretty good job here. You've lost total 36 pounds including the 8 pounds after surgery. I had the surgery on the same day as you. I also did the two weeks liquid diet pre-op and lost a total of 16 pounds. 5 days post-op, I've only lost 5 pounds. I actually didn't lose anything form yesterday even though I only had Protein shakes and half cup of fat free milk. I was pretty discouraged to see the scale this morning as well. I completely understand how you feel. But we have think positive. The lbs could come down later.

I think walking is a good tool to get rid of the gas. I walk from room to room when I felt the gas pain and I am going to a grocery store with my Mom today.

  14. Opps, actually I've lost total 10 pounds from my first input.

  16. I bought the "max protein" from GNC on the pre-op diet. Pretty expensive stuff - costs $35 per jar. It is high in Protein (24 gram per scope) and low in carb (2 gram per scope). However, I do not like the taste at all. Has anyone heard of it?

I couldn't decided on which band to use so I left the decision into my doctor's hand. I asked him to pick the one that best fits my anatomy. He finally picked the realize band for me.

  17. Hi, I too before the surgery was given a choice to pick a band between realize vs. lap band. I also did a lot of research but still could not make a decision on my surgery day. I told the doc that I would leave the decision into his hands. He should pick one that best fits my anatomy. The doctor finally put in a realize band for me.

  18. Today is my 5th day post op. Even though I've been sleeping a lot, I still feel very tired and weak. I talked to the nurse earlier and she said that if I'm taking less than 30 gram of carbs I would feel weak. I went to check the Protein Shake I've been taking. Max-protein only has 2 gram of carb per serving and Unjury only has 1 gram of carb. The diet guide denotes that we could also have sugar free Jello. Hover, the sugar free jell-o only has 2 gram of carb as well. On the other hand, the sugar free pudding has 6 gram of carb, plus the carb from the skim-milk, I could increase my carb intake to the required amount. Since this is my day 5 post op, does anyone know if sugar free pudding is okay to eat? Thanks.
