  1. Just wanted to wish everyone lots of luck and thanks for the point about asking the surgeon to get as much gas out as possible! I'm being done on Sunday. Let us know how you all get on soon!
  2. Hey everyone, I'm new to the site. I live in Dubai and I'm being banded this Sunday, 25th January. My surgeon has put me on a one week pre-op fat free diet which I am managing to stick to, it doesn't sound as drastic as some pre-op diets I have read about. The trouble is I am reading about everyone's problems, post op pain, lost ports, things getting stuck etc and I know these things happen but I am really getting scared now and thinking of changing my mind. The only thing that is keeping me going is the thought of being slim. So my question is... do you have any regrets or would you do it all again? Be honest!

    I'm Banded! My experiance!

Hi Bella Bean, Thanks for sharing your experience with us, I'm sorry your care was so awful but it sounds like you are a tough cookie and have come through well. I am being banded on 25th January, this Sunday as this is the first working day of the week where I live in the UAE. I'm an expat over here from the UK. I guess I will be on my own on that day but I am glad to be part of the New Year Hotties! I also hadn't heard about the hiccups so thanks for that too! Glad to know you are recovering well, keep up the good work!

    Any regrets?

Hi ladies, Thanks for all your replies, do keep them coming! You have encouraged me and I am feeling much more positive about having the op done on Sunday. Nessa22, I am really sorry that you are regretting your op and are in pain and depressed. Can your doctor put you in touch with anyone else near to you who has had one done? It would be good for you to meet up with someone. It is still early days for you you must give it time to heal and then a chance to work. Are you taking painkillers? Take things easy and follow the doctors orders. Out of everything I have read on this forum that is the one thing I have learnt...follow the doctors orders and give it time.
  5. Hi everyone, I am being banded this Sunday, 25th. My doc has only told me that I will be 2 weeks liquid and 2 weeks mushy post op but I am not sure what to buy now. Can someone tell me what the 'clear fluids' are and the 'liquids'? I want to buy the food I will need now so it will be in the cupboard for when I get home after my op. I guess my doc will tell me more when I am at the hospital but I won't want to go food shopping then! I'd be grateful if you could go into more detail about what liquids you can drink! I have some 'lighterlife' shakes an Soups in (like Cambridge diet). Will they be any good? Thanks.

Hi Fatma, My name is Jacquie and I come from the UK although I am resident in Dubai now. Thank you for telling me how it feels, you have put my mind at rest. I have had 3 C sections to deliver my three children so I guess it will be similar to that feeling but not quite as bad (I hope!) You are doing really well so far losing 5-6 kilos, well done :wink2: Do you have any other support to help you? How often do you see your doctor? I think this forum will be helping me a lot when I have had the operation as I don't know anyone else who has had this operation. Keep up your good work!:Dancing_wub:

    Driving after surgery?

Hi ladies, So what day did you feel able to drive? I will have to take my children to and from school, about a ten minute drive and I am planning on doing this 2 days after surgery. Will this be too soon?

    January 26th

Hi, I'm being done on 25th which is a Sunday but the weekend where I live (Dubai, UAE) is Friday and Saturday so Sunday is the first working day of the week. I guess there won't be many others being done on a Sunday so I guess I'll join you guys! I am on a 1 week fat free pre-op diet, it's amazing how different all the pre-op diets are! I have only been told that i will be on liquids for 2 weeks and mushies for a further 2 weeks post op. Not quite sure what to buy in to cover this. What's included in the clear liquids and the normal liquids? Is anyone feeling nervous? I am!

    Surgery Jan 20

Hi bballmom, Just wanted to wish you well for tomorrow I am being done on 25th and I too am getting really nervous. My pre-op diet is only fat free for a week before so I am not really finding that too difficult. Come back and tell us how you got on when you are able!

Hi, I am on pre-op fat free diet and having my operation on Sunday although I am getting really nervous now and having second thoughts. How are you feeling now apart from hungry? How much pain were you in after your surgery? Are you pleased you did it? I thought most people had their first fill 4 weeks after surgery? Sorry lots of questions! It sounds like you are doing really well, let me know how you got on.
  13. Hi everyone, Just thought I'd introduce myself. I live in Dubai, UAE and I'm being banded on 25th January at Emirates Hospital with Dr Roger Batrouni. Would love to hear from any bandsters in the UAE or anyone who has been banded by Dr Batrouni.
  14. Hi! I was wondering if anyone has been banded by Dr Roger Batrouni at the Emirates hospital in Dubai? I am being banded on 25 January so any replies with your experiences will be appreciated! Thanks.

Hi ladies, I live in Dubai and I am being banded on 25th January. How are you both doing? Who was your surgeon and has your aftercare and support been good? I'd love to know how you are doing. My surgeon is Dr Roger Batrouni at the Emirates Hospital. Did either of you have him?
