  1. I was banded on 2/2. I have the some problem although it is improving. My doc said it from the anesthesia. Today is better. I can actually taste things the way they should be. I struggle to get the fluids in. I am so used to drinking with a straw and that is a major no no! I still can't handle the taste of the Protein drinks- they were Ok before the surgery... but now they just make me nauseated. I am sure you will be tasting things better soon also.

So how are you feeling today? How much Fluid are you getting down? My banding date is Feb. 18, next Wed. I'm READY!!!

  2. I've been on liquids since last Wed. and will see the Dr. on Tuesday. Banding date, the 18th. I don't find that I'm hungry at all. I bought different flavors and enjoy the change at each 'meal'. I have hot chicken consumme toward evening and then it begins....nighttime munchies...I go for the Jello, ice pops, another ice pop and I smile. I'm doing this NO MATTER WHAT. Yes, it sucks not to be eating food, but the bottom line is if we had 'control' of our eating, we wouldn't be in this predicament, right? Think of the 4 weeks of liquids as a mental challenge, a cleansing of your body from all the toxins and crap you and I have been eating for years. This is the beginning of the rest of our lives. I may sound a little harsh, but I will tell you honestly, when I got on the scale this morning and saw that I've lost 14lbs. in 5 days, it makes it all worthwhile, and we're worth it, aren't we? KEEP GOING FEBRUARY BANDERS...STICK WITH IT AND WE'LL GET THROUGH THE ROUGH SPOTS TOGETHER. XOXOXOX:thumbup:

PS" can someone out there help this computer challenged woman with getting her tracker onto my logins? I can't figure it out, duh:mad2:

  3. BBW...now that stands for BIG BEAUTIFUL WOMAN? Am I correct? Be strong...be a WOMAN...we can handle a lot more than we think we can, and your mind can really screw you up. That's how we all got in this situation to begin with, by using food to fill emotional needs. Ending your life is not an answer, believe me...from personal experience...GO TO SEE A THERAPIST, or an OA Meeting...get some 'HUG" from all the people there that are just like you and me.

You've put yourself out here and told your story...that's a very brave thing to do. Takes a lot of courage to speak up sometimes, but you did it. Don't quit..go at your own pace and follow the program for Lap Band eating.

I am getting banded on the 18th of this month and am currently doing the liquid fast for 2 weeks. Into my 6th day and dropped lbs. already...I'm surprised.

Please, please....keep reaching out and never give up. Many squishy big hugs to you girl, be brave.

  4. I've been using a bidet type cleaner installed on my toilet for years because I couldn't reach back there too well. Its called Magic Faucet Bidet and I am very happy with it. (www.magicfaucetbidet.com)

The only downside is the Water comes straight from the same Water that fills your toilet tank, so its cold. Brrrrr!!! But I got used to it. It sells for about 100.00 at Home Depot as opposed to a separate bidet installed which could run 1,000 or more including the plumbing and work that has to be done to your bathroom to make room for it. Won't it be so nice when we lose all our weight and can reach back there without problems?? Its one of my wishes. LOL.

  5. ooh...0oh...who else is getting banded on the 18th...I'd love to hear from you...going to start my 2 weeks of liquids on Tuesday. It seems like every person I tell my date to wants to take me out for my 'last supper'..... OMG, I've been having my last supper for 2 months and will have to suffer with the extra lbls. I gained....afterthought is how stupid it was when I should have started controlling my eating 2 months ago instead...but I guess that's why some of us, like me are in this position, because we have no control....that's all going to change and I'M MORE THAN READY for my new life to begin on the 18th=Chai=Life!!:tongue2:

  6. Hi Marty and all,

I feel the same way you do...scared that I won't be able to stick with it and excited that its finally happening. I think the scared part is fear of failure as with other 'diets' and attempts at weight loss. With the band, we will have more freedom to 'cheat' than with the GB or sleeve, and that is also the scary part for me...I am PETRIFIED that I will fail and am trying desperately to be VERY POSITIVE about this journey which I will call the rest of my life. At 280 lbs. and only 5'3"...there's not much I have energy for these days. Its hard to carry around an extra person wherever I go and my back lets me know it every waking moment. I'M READY for February 18th.

Since you will go 1 day before me, I will look forward to us exchanging stories and I would be happy to buddy up with you.

  7. I'm getting my band on February 18 at Cleveland Clinic in S. Fla. Dr. Raul Rosenthal is doing it. I will also have a liver biopsy at the same time because I have liver disease. Years ago when banding first came out, I asked my Gastro about having the procedure and they said NO...now, when I went for my annual I asked again and BOTH of my gastro's were in agreement that I go for it...I was so surprised. Had to go for a lot of pre-op testing but I know it will be worth it. Now I'm hoping that the 2 week liquid diet shrinks my liver so my procedure will go easy. Good luck, February Bandsters:wink:

  8. I'm starting pre-op liquids on Tuesday...I'm glad it's finally come because I've been having my 'last meal' since November and gained about 10 extra pounds I didn't need, but I know it was anxiety. I'm trying to think of things that will occupy my time since I'm home all day and won't have my hobby (eating) to keep me busy anymore...wow! its MY time to 'get a life'. Good luck to all February banders, and everyone else

  9. Hi Everyone,

This is my first post and I'm so excited and scared at the same time. I'd like to know how many days did it take for you to feel OK after the band is inserted. I don't feel that I have enough information to start this journey...that's the scary part. I started my pre-op doctor visits in July '08 and finally finished up last week and got my surgery date...Feb 18. Dr. Raul Rosenthal at Cleveland Clinic in Weston, FL is going to do my Lap Band. I live alone right now so I emptied my house and refrigerator of just about all food in preparation for the 2 weeks of liquids. I'm ready for this challenge and pray that all will go smoothly with the beginning of the rest of my life. Thanks for reading my first and hopefully not last post. Hope to hear from some of you about your experiences. Pearl
