  1. What kind of things are you eating, or were eating, when you were on liquids and then mushies. And then once you started real food what were you eating? I am worried I won't lose weight. I don't know why I am thinking like this. I am eating right now things like liquid yogurt, cream Soups strained, sugar free popsicles, and lots of Water. I have not lost anything since my surgery Wed. In fact, I've gained five pounds! ACK! Maybe it's water weight gain from the IV fluids?? Anyone else gain weight right after surgery? Help with ideas please!
  2. Thanks it's probably water weight like from the sodium. My fingers are swelled a little I can tell with my rings so I will try and cut back on the salt. Thanks everyone.
  3. Actually that won't happen because I will be able to lowcarb better when I am eating normal foods. This liquids make it so I have to get more carbs than I want. You know what I mean? Thanks for the advice. You are right, I need to focus on healing right now. I guess I won't get a fill for about a month according to others on here. So that means once I go to regular food I can eat like normal? If so that means Christmas day I can eat normal food because I will be on normal stuff by then?

    shrinking

Sorry about that. I am one that is hoping mine shrink. They were huge when I was tiny though so who knows.
  5. I bought a case of them at the local health food store before my surgery (was banded yesterday) and they are pretty darn good. They have like 42 grams of Protein in each one. I drink half in the morning and half at lunch. I like the orange better than the fruit punch, fyi. The health food store let me put a variety of them in the box. Haven't tried the grape or berry ones yet but will let you know when I do. Even if they were nasty it's only 3.4 ounces in each one so I am shoot them back and hold my nose if the other flavors are icky.

My friend that had lap band done a couple years back gave me some good advice today when she came to visit... She said to measure your body parts. Keep track so when the scale isn't moving you can see if you are losing inches and not just weight. She also said to take pictures, a lot. So you can see your progress. She didn't and wishes everyday that she had her old fat pics to look at to see how far she's come. She also said save your biggest pants so you can hold them out like the commercials LOL when you lose all your weight.

    Stomach Pain

Ouch, hope you can get that figured out and take care of whatever is causing it.
  9. Here's what they look like:
  10. These are way bigger than test tubes but yeah, they kinda look like that. They are 42 grams of Protein each and that IS the name of them. It says whey PROTEIN Liquid Protein on the box.

    Embarrassing Diarrhea Question

Ohh man I am having this as well. My friend who is also banded calls them squarts. Like farts and squirts together. LOL!
  12. By then you should be able to put the food into a food processor and eat it like that. Sweet potatoes will also be easy. I am thinking about what I'll eat on Christmas too. I was banded yesterday.
  13. My surgery was yesterday and I am already hungry. I think it's more of a emotional hunger than real hunger though.
  14. Wonder why he didn't just give you a shot? That would have been so much easier. Sorry your dr. was being a ninny. He certainly could have given you liquid. Your pharmacist probably could have made it a liquid even with the Rx from the dr. saying pills. Some pharmacists break them down and make their own liquids.
  15. I love salads and was told they are one of the worst things once you get banded and was sad about that. So do y'all eat them? Wonder why I was told they aren't easy to eat once your banded?
  16. I don't think they are called bullets but my dr. said these are great for me!
  17. My dr actually told me to eat whatever and whenever I wanted prior to the week of liquids! He said it's better than getting to the week of liquids and saying ohh I wish I had eaten this or that.
  18. Praying all goes great for you. I was banded yesterday. Take the drugs they give you. I wasn't and was in a lot of pain. Now I am taking it like the bottle says and feeling much better. ALSO - buy some Gas X thin strips that melt on your tongue. The pain I have is bad gas and it's really helping. Can't wait to hear how yours went!!!
  19. I vote. I don't believe in karma. I'm done with this thread. I think my pain made me a little more bullheaded than normal and I really said exactly was on my mind in a way that I probably shouldn't have but you can't take it back and I do believe that it's foolish to make yourself gain weight to get a weight loss surgery. Perhaps the orignal poster should continue to eat cookie dough to lose weight though. It seems to be working.
  20. Miss Cleo, you need to find a new profession. Your psychic abilities are lacking terribly.

Another thing, though cheese is allowed what kind of cheese you eat is a big thing. Presliced cheese is higher in carb count. Use cheddar cheese and cut it yourself if you aren't already. Don't go crazy on cheese either. For some people it stalls them. Eat lots of meat!!

First thing I would do is toss the Atkin's shake. Anything that is prepackaged take out of your diet. I would drop your carb intake to around 20... maybe 30 some days but 40 is pretty high for lowcarbing. You could be eating high on the hog and losing like crazy. Keep it simple. Meats, cheese, salads with lowcarb dressing like homemade buttermilk ranch with the works! Cheese, bacon, sunflower seeds, tomatoes, onions, bell peppers! For dinner keep it simple. Meat, green beans, and salad or something like that. Lots of veggies are HIGH in carbs. Stick to the greens... they are the lowest in carbs. Remember, don't lowfat - lowcard. Use real butter, use real stuff. Not the lowfat stuff. A lot of the lowfat products are HIGH in carbs... they add sugar to them to make them taste better. Good luck! I know you can do this and you will enjoy it if you do it right. Eggs and bacon for breakfast, yummm!!
  23. I think this is something you should speak with your dr. about.
