  2. Chris:

I had the same worries. But if you listen to your band; you'll lose the weight. The band will let you know when it's full; you just have to learn to listen to it. You have to exercise, you have to do the work; but if you work with the band, you'll succeed. Please let me know if you have any further questions, would love to help you as much as I can.

    My continuing saga

Well, this is my first blog. I was banded on Jan. 9, 2007. It has now been 2 1/2 years and if I had to do it all over again, I most certainly would!! I was very lucky to find the most caring & compassion surgeon ever!! It was a long trip from Wisconson to San Antonio, Texas, but to this day, I still fly down there for all my fills. When I started my weight loss journey I was 305#, had high blood pressure, high cholesterol, was on 2 different types of pain pills for my back and knee and was on a CPAP machine for Sleep Apnea. Now, here I am, 2 1/2 years later and I no longer am on any pain pills, no longer have high blood pressure or high cholesterol and no longer have sleep apnea. I am now 127# and feel the best I have in my entire life. I love life now, enjoy my family more, and now I actually like myself. I love to consult other weight loss patients and am thankful for Dr. Jorge Rincon!! He literally saved my life!! Michele

  6. I think we all went through those feelings. But to run away; well, that will only get yourself further away from being healthy. I started my weight loss journey 2 1/2 years ago. I was afraid, too. I live in Wisconsin and went to Texas to have my surgery. I was lucky enough to find a FANTASTIC surgeon and I to this day, still fly down there for all my fills. You need to remember, the band is just a tool; it is up to you to use it correctly. But I think you're ready. Bless your little heart; I've been there and now how scarey it is. I started at 305# and now I'm at 127#. I will keep you in my prayers and hope all went well for you!! Michele

  11. It took me 2 1/2 years to get from 305# to 127#. Oh yes, I exercised a lot!! Joined a gym and faithfully went 3-5 times a week. Have you had surgery yet?
  12. Thank you very much!!!! My starting dress size was like a 3/4X. I was pretty large. No, I am not from San Antonio, I actually live in Wisconsin, but was lucky to find such a wonderful surgeon that I make the trips down to San Antonio to see him!! I hope you have a fabulous time in SA visiting your family. I love going there and because of my surgery, I have made a lot of great friends down there. Some in SA and some in Austin. Have you had your surgery yet?

Saf: I started Post op at 305#. I now weight 127#. You can do this!! But remember, your band is just a tool; you have to do the work. You have to follow the rules!! But if you're ready, then it will work for you!! As far as the skin, I have had about 5 lbs of skin removed from my lower stomach; insurance did cover that for me because I was getting severe infections. I still have a lot of skin on my stomach, legs, and arms; which I will obviously have to pay for; but it's a save up and do as I can thing. But the next thing I'll have done is my arms; but that's a year or more down the road as it will cost about $6000.00; but I deserve it!! Michele

    Just me :)

You are just so sweet!!! I have lost nearly 180#. I started out at 305# and I now weight 127#. I exercise everyday for a minimum of 30 minutes. During the week when I'm at work, because of my long hours, I always use my lunch break to take a 2 mile walk. I eat at my desk and keep working after my walk. I received my band in Jan. 2007 and it's taken me 2 1/2 years to get to my goal weight. I am finally healthy and happy!!!! Michele

    Michele-6 months post op.

Thank you very much Ms Yo. I have worked really hard at this; harder than I've worked at anything in my life I think. To "make it happen" you just simply have to strictly follow the band rules. That means no soda, you have to exercise, you have to drink your water, you have to get your protein in. Remember, the band is just a tool; it does not lose the weight for you; you lose the weight!! Diet is not in my vocabulary; lifestyle change is. Breakfast for me mainly consists of coffee or hot tea as I tend to be very tight in the am and can't really eat. I do have a yogurt later in the morning after I've loosened up. Lunch generally consists of a small salad and some type of protein; chicken, turkey, etc. If I get hungry between lunch and supper, I have some cheese or yogurt. Supper is always protein, vegetable, etc. I have not touched bread since the day I got my band. Bread bad...LOL. Let me know if there's anything more I can do to help you. michele
