  1. Hi all! looking for support/friendship in the Saint Marys area. I know there a couple of ladies here who've had the band done but dont know if they're actually on the board here. I need someone to help me get my motivation back. Its ridiculous that I had this great procedure done and have not worked with it. I did great for a bit then fell off the wagon when my four year old faced some medical problems/surgery. I got my band January 2nd and intended to be halfway to goal AT LEAST by now but have gained back to where I started. I am so mad at myself and nobody seems to understand. Anyone out here?

  2. Exercise, exercise, exercise. Especially with free weights and sit ups for your arms and tummy, where lots of excess weight lingers. Depending on your starting weight, you may need cosmetic surgery to sew up the excess despite exercise. I started at roughly 260 and exercise alone worked for me! Good luck!

Thanks, Delrio! So...what sort of free weights exercises do you do? I have resistance bands but I gotta say, these and weights are totally foreign to me. My weight as of yesterday was 257, down from 273. That's the highest my weight has ever been. Bleh.

  3. Thanks so much! I was just there over the Christmas holiday visiting my parents and I can't believe how much it's changing! It barely feels like "home" to me anymore but I will ALWAYS be a Carolina girl!

Hi! Good luck with your surgery this week! I hope yours goes as well as mine did. I have had no complications whatsoever, and was back at work after 1 week.

ps....I LOVE Myrtle Beach! We go every year. (It's about 4 hours from where I live in NC.)

  4. How soon after your appt. with your surgeon did you get to schedule the actual surgery? I was asking to see if there is a long wait. Also wondering if there are pre-op things to do before. I am scheduled for a seminar right now and hoping to jump right in asap to start my new life with lapband.

Hey there! I don't actually have ALL the dates of my appts right now but, when I had my seminar, I messed around and waited and procrastinated for months. In late October, I finally got serious about it. I had my consult in the beginning of November, then I immediately scheduled my appts for my labs, xrays, ekg, nutritionist and psychiatric eval. By then end of Nov., I had all those done and then I had to have my second appt with the surgeon. I had that on 12/5/08 and then they submitted my request to Tricare. Then it was just waiting. Finally on 12/12, I got the call that I had been approved and she gave me my dates for my pre-op with the surgeon, pre-op at the hospital and surgery dates. I was ;) over the moon! LOL. So...to answer your question, i got all my dates at once on that call.

  5. :wink2: Hey everyone! My name is Sandy. I'm getting banded on January 2nd and just started my Clear liquids till surgery fast today. I began low carbing (30g total carbs) on Christmas day. Bah Humbug! Hehe. We're an active duty Navy family in Saint Marys, GA. I'm originally from Myrtle Beach, SC. We have 4 kids: one boy, 10 and three girls, 9, 7 and 4. I just went back to work after 10 years of being a SAHM and I work as a Chiropractic Assistant for a great small practice. I was really worried about going back to work but it's only M,W and F and I really love my job. :) Um...guess that's it. I'll see yall around the forums!

    Sandy
