  1. Hey... I made it back. I finally got banded on January 18th. Yeah for me, I am now at about 40 pound weight loss. I think I need to exercise more or something because some people have lost more. My surgeon said that I really shouldn't look at my weight because I have gone from a size 24/22 to a size 18/16. I guess I am just happy I finally got my surgery. Good luck to everyone as well.

  2. Okay everyone it has been 6 days on a pre-op diet. The first day was interesting, the next got better, and by the third day all I had to do was close my eyes and believe it has finally gotten to this point. I have another 9 more day of pre-op diet and then my surgery is on the 10th day (Jan.18th). I am ready for this to be my time. Thank you everyone for your encouragement. Peace.

  3. I sure hope it doesn't take a year for your process. The one thing I did notice is I finally followed through on this project of getting my life into a healthier style. I have become reborn in knowing that now I can live and not be trapped by not being comfortable in my skin. I did get my "offical" letter today telling me I am approved. Its sinking in for now. Its not like I'm counting down my days either.

  4. I am bandless as well, but that didn't stop me from signing up as well. I started my process a year ago and here I am now. I have my final doctor appointment on Dec.29th and start my pre-op diet tentative on Jan.4th to be banded on Jan.18th. If you think its impossible, it might be, but if you keep going for it then nothing is impossible.

  5. I found out my surgery date is tentive for Jan. 18, 2010. My doctor will have me stay overnight for a total of 36 hours in the hospital I believe. I start my pre-op diet about 2 weeks before my surgery. When I called about the date the office manager asked, "Did you pinch yourself to make sure your not dreaming?" I have been through a lot with this process, its my time to shine.

  6. so i had to go back to my primary doctor cause i needed referals and he told me that most of the time the psych doctors will not approve someone with depression and anxiety and i was like "really"? and he was like "yes because they feel they wont do anything good cause they are too depressed "

but you see im so damn depressed cause im fat !

and i do have horrible anxiety but what does that have to do with the LAP-BAND® ?

anywho i have my psych evaluation on monday lets hope all goes well

when i went to my surgeon he said i was a great candidate so ill stick with his opinion

Wow... my primary was all for it, I had to convince the one counselor before even thinking about surgery what I was thinking about, she was rotten to the core as a person. When I told my primary about it she freaked out, got on the phone and stood up for me. I then went to a different therapist who actually specializes in eating disorders. Very informative person. You'll do good. You are making a life choice. BTW I also take meds for depression.

  7. Okay everyone after dealing with the first denial, then going through the process all over again because of some red tape I got approved today. I will find out on Monday (11-23-09) for my surgery date. I'm so excited I started to cry. This has been an overwhelming process and if anyone thinks there is no end in sight, well I got something to say to them. "If you want it, go for it and don't let anyone get in your way. Its your life to live, your family to support you. Most importantly freedom." Thank you everyone who has given me your prayers and good vibes.

  8. I have Aetna PPO and had several questions regarding what was expected of me during the process. When I asked about Weight Watchers being a recorded weight history for all the times I had gone and followed their program it wasn't enough. Along with all the other programs that I had tried to loose weight with during my struggle of being a "fat" person. I still needed to be seen by a PCP and a nutritionist during my 90 day period. I am almost done with having all my ducks in row. Yeah... good luck with yours as well.

  9. I'm new to this site, I heard about it from a co-worker she suggested I stop and register. So far with everything that I have read its very informing. I haven't been banded yet, but I am starting the process. Although it has finally taking me this long to get to where I want a better quality of life. Oh well better late then never as some would say. I look forward to seeing this process through and knowing life has only just begun with me again.
