  1. My doctor said we can still drink alcohol but mainly just liquors and mixed drinks that have no carbonation. He said more than likely after the band you will be a light weight but in a way I guess thats good considering how many calories are in alcohol. The main thing we're not allowed to have once banded is carbonated beverages. Everything else depends on you and how serious you want to lose weight. I hope that answers your question and good luck to you!

  2. Everything went well. I was able to get up pretty quickly after sugery. It felt so good to stand up and walk around.

I have some tightness in my chest and I think the port area. And of course my shoulders...ouch

I hope everyone else who got banded recently does well! Thank you all again for the encouraging words!

    Congratulations and welcome to bandland!

  3. Now for my stats - I started pre-op at 228.2, at surgery weighed 220.4 and for my first band weigh-in was at 216.6. So that gives me a total of 11.6 in 2 weeks! I don't see my surgeon for another 3 weeks. I see my PCP next tuesday and i know he will be pleasantly surprised - cause i will be close to a 20 lb loss in about 6 weeks

WE are on our way! Congratulations everyone!

    hugs, Pat

Pat that is awesome!!! Its so exciting to see everyone getting pounds closer to their goal!!

  4. Well when my DH was deployed last year, I did Hip Hop Abs for about 3 months and lost about 20 lbs (combined with the eleptical for 20mins at the gym) and I was only working out 3-4 times a week. After he came home for r&r I was so depressed with him leaving again I fell back into my old habits and gained the weight back. :tt2:

I know it works if you stick to it, and just like you said its a lot of fun and Shaun T is hilarious. I never tried Zumba but I may have to look into that now. I honestly don't watch the biggest loser that much, but can you explain why you shouldn't fall below 1000 calories? And how many should I be taking in at this point considering the only physical activity I can do right now is walk.

Oh and congrats on you weight loss!! 50 lbs in 6 months!! Thats a dream for me! I figured it out that if I do everything like I'm supposed to I could reach my goal by the end of the year.

  5. Healthforlife: I love Hip Hop Abs! I've had mine for about a year. I just recently had my surgery last monday so I can't do it for a couple more weeks. I'm so glad to hear that, that helped break your plateau. I'll be honest, I'm so scared of hitting a plateau because I know myself, I'll get really depressed. I want to lose me weight so badly that my DH said I'm being too hard on myself. For instance, my doctor said I can start mushies this week so yesterday I had a bowl of progresso Soup (the weight watchers kind) and I was still hungry so I ate some vienna sausages...well I didn't realize just how many calories are in vienna sausages until after I had already eaten them. When I saw it, I started crying! 120 calories per 3 sausages!!:tt2: So basically my 70 calorie soup turned into a 430 calorie lunch! And I'm only on week 2!! I mean I'm still taking in less than 1000 calories a day but I just want to do good on this so bad. So if you have any advice for a freshman bandster I'm all ears!!!

  6. First of congratulations on your weight loss. Your gyno is an idiot. If I were you, I would get a new one. Preferably one who knows a little bit more about that band than her. (I know that will be hard to find) She obviously is confusing the band to gastric bypass. My doctor told me the same thing that the band wouldn't affect any of the pills I was taking, just to take them one at a time about 5 mins apart and with warm liquid. Good luck to you.
